It was a time ② family groups gathered again. They reunited as they ③ the animal herds across the grasslands. If only it ④ be just like last year! At that time she had been ⑤ happy when Dahu chose her as the future mother of his children. It was ⑥ great honor to be chosen. She had felt so proud as the group shouted loudly ⑦ applaud ⑧ choice. It was going to be just as ⑨ as last year. She smiled to herself and ⑩ out to welcome her friends and neighbors. ④此处考查If only的虚拟语气,故将can改为could。 It’s a great honor to do sth.。 Dahu chose her as the future mother可知,choice是Dahu做出的,故用his。 3.话题知识与写作 Ⅰ.1.Last month, it was a great honor for us to pay a visit to the Zhoukoudian caves. 2.During the visit, we were aware of the living environment of the earliest people. 3.Not only were we aware of some of their ways of keeping warm during the freezing winter, but also we knew their clothes were made of animal skins. 4.Judging by their necklaces, they cared about their appearance indeed. 典例引领 (2016北京,D) Why College Is Not Home The college years are supposed to be a time for important growth in autonomy(自主性) and the development of adult identity. However, now they are becoming an extended period of adolescence, during which many of today’s students are not shouldered with adult responsibilities. For previous generations, college was a decisive break from parental control;guidance and support needed to come from people of the same age and from within. In the past two decades, however, continued connection with and dependence on family, thanks to cell phones, email and social media, have increased significantly. Some parents go so far as to help with coursework. Instead of promoting the idea of college as a passage from the shelter of the family to autonomy and adult responsibility, universities have given in to the idea that they should provide the same environment as that of the home. To prepare for increased autonomy and responsibility, college needs to be a time of exploration and experimentation. This process involves “trying on” new ways of thinking about oneself both intellectually(在思维方面) and personally. While we should provide “safe spaces” within colleges, we must also make it safe to express opinions and challenge majority views. Intellectual growth and flexibility are fostered by strict debate and questioning. Learning to deal with the social world is equally important. Because a college community(群体) differs from the family, many students will struggle to find a sense of belonging. If students rely on administrators to regulate their social behavior and thinking pattern, they are not facing the challenge of finding an identity within a larger and complex community. Moreover, the tendency for universities to monitor and shape student behavior runs up against another characteristic of young adults:the response to being controlled by their elders. If acceptable social behavior is too strictly defined(规定) and controlled, the insensitive or aggressive behavior that administrators are seeking to minimize may actually be encouraged. It is not surprising that young people are likely to burst out, particularly when there are reasons to do so. Our generation once joined hands and stood firm at times of national emergency. What is lacking today is the conflict between adolescents’ desire for autonomy and their understanding of an unsafe world. Therefore, there is the desire for their dorms to be replacement homes and not places to experience intellectual growth. Every college discussion about community values, social climate and behavior should include recognition of the developmental importance of student autonomy and self-regulation, of the necessary tension between safety and self-discovery. 1.What’s the author’s attitude toward continued parental guidance to college students? A.Sympathetic. B.Disapproving. C.Supportive. D.Neutral. 2.The underlined word “passage” in Paragraph 2 means . A.change B.choice C.text D.extension 3.According to the author, what role should college play? A.To develop a shared identity among students. B.To define and regulate students’ social behavior. C.To provide a safe world without tension for students. D.To foster students’ intellectual and personal development. 阅读理解 A (2017江西新余一中、宜春一中联考) Should we allow modern buildings to be built next to older buildings in a historic area of a city? In order to answer this question, we must first examine whether people really want to preserve the historic feel of an area. Not all historical buildings are attractive. However, there may be other reasons—for example, economic reasons—why they should be preserved. So, let us assume that historical buildings are both attractive and important to the majority of people. What should we do then if a new building is needed? In my view, new architectural styles can exist perfectly well alongside an older style. Indeed, there are many examples in my own hometown of Tours where modern designs have been placed very successfully next to old buildings. As long as the building in question is pleasing and does not dominate (影响) its surroundings too much, it often improves the attractiveness of the area. It is true that there are examples of new buildings which have spoilt (破坏) the area they are in, but the same can be said of some old buildings too. Yet people still speak against new buildings in historic areas. I think this is simply because people are naturally conservative(保守的) and do not like change. Although we have to respect people’s feelings as fellow users of the buildings, I believe that it is the duty of the architect and planner to move things forward. If we always reproduced what was there before, we would all still be living in caves. Thus, I would argue against copying previous architectural styles and choose something fresh and different, even though that might be the more risky choice. 1.What does the author say about historical buildings in the first paragraph? A.Most of them are too expensive to preserve. B.They are more pleasing than modern buildings. C.They have nothing to do with the historic feel of an area. D.Some of them are not attractive. 2.Which of the following is TRUE according to the author? A.Some old buildings have spoilt the area they are in. B.We should reproduce the same old buildings. C.Buildings should not dominate their surroundings. D.No one understands why people speak against new buildings. 3.By “move things forward” in the last paragraph, the author probably means “ ”. A.destroy old buildings B.put things in a different place C.choose new architectural styles D.respect people’s feelings for historical buildings 4.What is the main purpose of the passage? A.To explain why people dislike change. B.To argue that modern buildings can be built in historic areas. C.To warn that we could end up living in caves. D.To admit how new buildings have ruined their surroundings. B My color television has given me nothing but a headache.I was able to buy it a little over a year ago because I had my relatives give me money for my birthday instead of a lot of clothes that wouldn’t fit.I let a salesclerk fool me into buying a discontinued model.I realized this a day later, when I saw newspaper advertisements for the set at seventy-five dollars less than I had paid. The set worked so beautifully when I first got it home that I would keep it on until stations signed off for the night.Fortunately,I didn’t get any channels showing all-night movies or I would never have gotten to bed. Then I started developing a problem with the set that involved static(静电)noise. For some reason, when certain shows switched into a commercial,a loud noise would sound for a few seconds.Gradually, this noise began to appear during a show, and to get rid of it,I had to change to another channel and then change it back.Sometimes this technique would not work, and I had to pick up the set and shake it to remove the sound.I actually began to build up my arm muscles(肌肉)shaking my set. When neither of these methods removed the static noise,I would sit helplessly and wait for the noise to go away.At last I ended up hitting the set with my fist, and it stopped working altogether. My trip to the repair shop cost me $62,and the set is working well now,but I keep expecting more trouble. 5.Why did the author say he was fooled into buying the TV set? A.He got an older model than he had expected. B.He couldn’t return it when it was broken. C.He could have bought it at a lower price. D.He failed to find any movie shows on it. 6.Which of the following can best replace the phrase“signed off”in Paragraph 1? A.ended all their programs B.provided fewer channels C.changed to commercials D.showed all-night movies 7.How did the author finally get his TV set working again? A.By shaking and hitting it. B.By turning it on and off. C.By switching channels. D.By having it repaired. 8.How does the author sound when telling the story? A.Curious. B.Anxious. C.Cautious. D.Humorous. Today I’ve got a wonderful news to tell you. I have offered a scholarship at a university in Australia for my further education. One hundred and twenty students took exam for it, but only a few was chosen and I was one of them. However, my parents are not happy about it . They are strong against me going there. They say it is too far away that they will not see me for a whole year and they are afraid I will feel lonely. They can’t imagine such a young girl live alone. They advise me to study in the capital. But I’ll be able to continue living with them. How can I persuade them to receive the fact which I have grown up? Ⅳ. 根据第一段中的“Not all historical buildings are attractive.” 根据第三段中的“It is true that there are examples of new buildings which have spoilt (破坏) the area they are in, but the same can be said of some old buildings too.” 故选A。 根据第四段中的“If we always reproduced what was there before, we would all still be living in caves.” 根据第一段第一句“Should we allow modern buildings to be built next to older buildings in a historic area of a city?” 根据第一段中“I realized this a day later...at seventy-five dollars less than I had paid.” 根据第一段最后一句“Fortunately,I didn’t get any channels showing all-night movies or I would never have gotten to bed.” 故选A。 1.who/that 考查定语从句。 3.whatever/what 考查宾语从句。 故用what/whatever。 前面介绍网上购物的好处,根据“there are still some disadvantages in online shopping”,可知上下文之间是转折关系,故使用However。 故用the。 故用It。 in accordance with为固定搭配,意为“按照”。 How are you?Today I’ve got ①a wonderful news to tell you. I have ② offered a scholarship at a university in Australia for my further education. One hundred and twenty students took ③ exam for it, but only a few ④chosen and I was one of them. However, my parents are not happy about it. They are ⑤against me going there. They say it is ⑥far away that they will not see me for a whole year and they are afraid I will feel lonely. They can’t imagine such a young girl ⑦ alone. They advise me to study in the capital. ⑧ I’ll be able to continue living with them. How can I persuade them to ⑨the fact ⑩ I have grown up? ⑥本处构成 so...that... ⑦imagine sb. doing sth. Dear Gary, I’m very glad to know that you are coming to China. Of course, a Chinese name will help you better fit in with the new culture. The biggest difference between Chinese names and English names is that we write the family name first. A Chinese name usually consists of two or three characters, which often carry some special significance or expectations. As you are an energetic and warm-hearted boy, I recommend 李阳to you. Li, a family name, which is shared by billions of Chinese, has the same pronunciation as your“Lee”. The given name means the sun in Chinese. I hope you will like your new name and have a really good time in China.
