Welcome to Beijing for your study!‎ Since you have long been interested in Chinese culture, I think Beijing Language and Culture University is an ideal place for you. The university is known for its language and culture courses intended for international students. I believe you will have a rewarding experience there.‎ To be frank, studying for a degree in a different culture is never easy. You’d better learn some basic Chinese before you come. That way, you may adjust yourself to the life here in Beijing soon.‎ If you have any other questions, do let me know.‎ Yours,‎ Li Hua ‎5.‎ Dear Chris,‎ I have good news to tell you. There will be a month before the end of July, when the World Adolescent Robotics Competition is scheduled to be held in my city, Tianjin. We are to meet on Sunday morning in the Peoples Park, where the air is fresh and the scenery is beautiful. We will learn from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. Besides, I advise you to go to the bookstore to borrow a history book and learn the history of the Tang Dynasty in advance, which can help you better understand the poems to be learned. ‎ ‎ If you have any questions, please let me know. While it has been more than a year since you taught us English, I’ve missed you a lot, thinking about those happy moments when we stayed with you. Actually, I’ve been doing pretty well in my studies as well as in my life. Apart from my academic studies, I always manage to find time for what I’m interested in. For example, I have successfully got admitted as a volunteer for the 13th National Games, which is scheduled to be held at the end of this August. To get admitted, I have made good preparations beforehand, trying to know as much as I could about my city, Tianjin. ‎ By the way, it’s my sincere hope that you can spare some time for a visit to Tianjin again, which has changed greatly since you left. ‎ Please let me know if you come to Tianjin. Yours,‎ Li Jin ‎4.‎ Dear Peter, ‎ Our school photography club is going to hold an International High School Student Photography Show. As for my favorite figure in Chinese history, it must be Wei Yuan, a great thinker in the late Qing Dynasty. He, in his book, Haiguo Tuzhi(Maps and Records of the World), introduced modern technologies and ideas to China. That opened our eyes to the world. In fact, he inspires me to major in English in college, to be a bridge between China and the world. Interested in knowing more? I can find you some books! Just let me know. ‎ Cheers!‎ Yours,‎ Li Hua ‎8. The Season I Like Best ‎ Each of us knows that there are four seasons a year. Different people like different seasons; my favourite season is spring. I love to smell the fragrance of flowers, see the new green trees and hear the singing of small birds. There are many busy butterflies and bees over the flowers. Sometimes it rains, but usually rains quietly. The rain moistens the trees and the flowers. And I can play outside too! Whether we like riding bikes, jogging or going on long walks, spring allows us to enjoy outdoor activities that we had to put on the back burner during winter. Of course, there are many other reasons to explain why I’m so excited about the spring. Thank you, spring! ‎ ‎9.‎ Dear Peter,‎ ‎ I’d like to ask you to write an article for our school’s English newspaper."Foreign Cultures" is our favorite section of our school’s English newspaper. I know you are very good at writing, so would you be so kind as to write an article about American festivals or school life for us? I am sure your article will impress us deeply, which in turn will arouse our interest in learning American cultures. As to the length of the article, about 400 words will be fine. I would appreciate it if we could receive your article before June 28th. Another suggestion is to practice speaking. As one saying goes, "Practice makes perfect." However, my English is just OK and I have many problems with my study. It is my honor to be here to share with you my opinions on what to learn in senior high school. ‎ ‎ In the coming three years, our school life will be challenging. Firstly, we should learn to learn efficiently. Personally, I used to try effective methods to achieve my academic goals. Developing a good habit is also of importance. It really benefited me a lot to preview lessons, get involved in class actively, and review what had been taught after class. ‎ In addition, we should learn how to get along well with others. In school, I respected teachers and was friendly with classmates. It was with sincerity and faithfulness that we created a harmonious atmosphere.  Finally, we should take part in sports and outdoor activities frequently. These books have many advantages. One of them is that we can find a variety of topics, such as science, culture and history. These topics, I think, are very popular with us students. What’s more, along with the texts there are many beautiful and colorful pictures, which can help us understand English better. Even the students who used to dislike English have turned out to be interested in the subject. However, some of the texts have too many new words and expressions which are hard for us. Therefore, I’d like to suggest changing them into easier ones. ‎ Best regards,  ‎ Li Hua 图画作文 ‎2018年 Last week, a group of international students visited our school. All of them were amazed. They couldn’t wait to have a try for themselves.‎ Soon the tea room became lively with every international student trying to make their own tea. We had a lot of fun, practicing, and enjoying the tea.‎ In the end, we took a group photo, with cups or tea in our hands, to record this unforgettable experience.‎ ‎2012-2017年 ‎1.‎ Graduation finally came. After a heated discussion, we agreed on making a video to record our experiences at school.  Material collecting took us a whole week, during which we interviewed our teachers and took pictures of every aspect of school life. The editing part after that was tough. We debated over what to put into the video. Some compromises were unavoidable, but the video turned out perfect. Several days later, when the video was played on the graduation ceremony, it was well received. The students and teachers had a great time. That surely gave us a great sense of achievement.‎ ‎2.‎ A week before Earth Day, posters were put up around our school, calling upon us to join in the actions for a greener earth. Our class came up with the idea to make better use of used materials. We brought to our classroom worn-out clothes, pieces of cardboard and empty plastic bottles, and turned those into dolls, handbags, tissue boxes and small vases. That weekend, we went to a nearby neighborhood and gave them away to the people there. All were very happy with those unexpected gifts, especially little kids and elderly people. We did so well that we were invited to share our idea and experience with all the students of our school. We are very proud of 32‎ ‎ ourselves and believe we can do more for a better world.‎ ‎3.‎ In the picture, we can see a boy in worn clothes, sitting at a shabby wooden table with a pile of books on it. A weak ray of light came in through a small hole in the wall and he was absorbed in his reading. This is a well-known story from an ancient Chinese idiom. The boy, being poor, couldn’t afford even a candle, so he bored a hole in the wall to "steal" light from his neighbor’s house to read at night. The moral of the story is: spare no effort to acquire knowledge and never get discouraged easily no matter how difficult the situation may be. Of course, things are totally different today. It is not the story itself but what is reflected in the story that counts. Hard work pays off. We should take pains to improve ourselves through learning and get prepared for the future. ‎ ‎4. Actions Speak Louder than Words ‎ People celebrate Earth Day differently. In Picture 1, a man is trying to put up a banner on a lonely tree surrounded by stumps, but in vain, while Picture 2 shows a couple happily planting a tree. The message conveyed here is clear: "Actions speak louder than words." Our earth is suffering severe damage.Should we just pay lip service or take practical measures to protect it? The answer is definitely the latter.Immediate actions should be taken, like stopping cutting down trees, to better the environment.Actions are important in other fields, too.Instead of shouting empty slogans, it is more meaningful to donate books and sports goods to children in need.We should strictly and voluntarily follow traffic rules, stopping at the red light rather than complaining about traffic jams.Only when we match our words with actions can we make a difference in whatever we hope to accomplish.‎ ‎7. ‎ From the picture we can see a family of three walking on a long red carpet. The son, well dressed, waves proudly in the middle while the father behind bends forward to hold the coat and 32‎ ‎ the mother in front rolls out the carpet, sweating. It shows a common phenomenon nowadays that children are the focus of families, shouldering the hope of their parents.Parents arrange everything for their children and spare no effort to pave the way for their success. As a consequence, children become so reliant on their parents that they have no independent thought or creative ideas.Such a situation is of great concern. In my opinion, overprotection and too much care are extremely bad for children’s development.Instead of doing everything for them, parents should encourage their children to overcome difficulties and inspire them to develop by themselves.Only in this way can they grow up to be independent and become truly successful.‎ ‎8. ‎ Last Monday, my father said goodbye to my mother and me and went on a business trip. I learned this when I was just admitted into high school two years ago. During one of my English classes, it suddenly came to my notice that the teacher made a minor mistake in his teaching. Doubting whether I was right, I consulted some books, which confirmed my assumption. Later, as I talked with my teacher about this, he praised me, which in turn encouraged me to explore more about English. By and by, I became one of the top students in English in my class. The experience has taught me that, when we doubt something, what is left for us to do is seek the truth. As long as we’re willing to search and learn, we are sure to make progress.‎ ‎5.Version 1:‎ ‎ On-line voting becomes increasingly popular, and many competitions get people involved in it. It is beneficial to some people, while it puts others into a dilemma over whether to vote or not.In my opinion, on-line voting is an inseparable part of modern life and should be welcomed, since it is no more than a way to participate in public life. It makes no difference from ordinary voting events, in which candidates go around to seek supports. In addition, the Internet makes surveying and voting easy and convenient, regardless of time and space. Furthermore, voting on the Internet makes instant feedback possible. To be honest, voters sometimes feel annoyed, not because they hate voting, but because they are divided between emotion and fairness. Things will turn for the better if we can work out some participation rules for people to obey. Therefore, I hold a positive attitude towards on-line voting.‎ Version 2:‎ ‎ Internet voting is quite popular nowadays. Many people are somewhat puzzled at the negative side of the voting, although some are quite happy with it, and active in doing it.In my opinion, internet voting has begun to show its negative impacts on people and society. Firstly, people may feel forced when asked to do things that they don’t want to. Secondly, voting of this kind does not depend on the strong points of the competitors, but rather on how many social-networking resources they have. Thirdly, the voters or even the competitors in many cases are possibly taken advantage of by the organizers for commercial purposes. In short, internet voting, to some extent, is unfair, if immoral, and cannot be trusted. Therefore, rules should be worked out and strictly observed. Everyone in our society should help those in need, but it is more important to be sincere and earnest.‎ ‎6. As a student, I can tell you that there is nothing better than being praised by my teacher before my classmates. I still remember a maths lesson. My maths teacher copied a 32‎ ‎ challenging problem on the blackboard and asked the whole class whether there would be one student who knew how to work it out. Several minutes passed but the whole class was in complete silence. As a matter of fact, I came across the problem in a reference book the other day, so I gathered my courage, walked to the blackboard and worked it out in no time. What a surprised expression was on my maths teacher’s face! He felt so happy that he praised me in public, saying that I was an intelligent student. At that moment, I became the focus of the whole class and was full of great pride and confidence. ‎ Since then, maths has become one of my favorite subjects, and I have also made rapid progress in maths. I appreciate my maths teacher’s praise and encouragement very much.‎ ‎7. When I Have a Different Opinion ‎ We may have different opinions in organizing class activities. We may have various ways to deal with such a situation. When I have a better idea, I would choose to stick to it. By doing so, I can not only share good ideas with others but also learn to express myself clearly. Once we were discussing where to go for an outing. Most of my classmates wanted to go to a park while I had an idea of going to a nicer place. I managed to persuade my classmates into accepting my idea. We did have a good time that day. Good opinions are worth sticking to because they can benefit us all. ‎ When I Have a Different Opinion ‎ We may have different opinions in organizing class activities. When I have a different opinion, I may choose to give it up and respect the opinion of the majority. ‎ The main reason for my choice is that being brought up in a culture emphasizing collectivism, I tend to sacrifice my own interest for the group benefit. Once we were left to decide whether to have a picnic in a park or go to a museum. I would love to go to a museum, but most of my classmates wanted to go for a picnic. Without hesitation, I decided to follow them and we did have lots of fun that day. Sometimes giving up a little can mean getting more.‎ ‎8. When I hear that someone says, "My friend falls, I laugh; my phone falls, I cry." I feel rather annoyed and surprised. What he says suggests that he cares little about others’ pain or trouble, even if they’re his friends. Moreover, it seems that he always thinks more of himself than of others. ‎ ‎ Personally, it is completely wrong of him to behave with such an attitude towards others and life. As a matter of fact, none of us can live alone in society. We all depend on others sometimes to some degree. If everyone does and thinks as he does, he’ll not live any longer in the world. ‎ ‎ I argue that every one of us should try our best to help those in need. Then we can have someone to turn to when in trouble. Otherwise we’ll have to answer for our selfishness sooner or later. That is what the saying goes: "A friend in need is a friend indeed." Only when you learn to give can you expect to receive.‎ ‎9. I think the picture is telling us that there is usually a difference between one’s dream and reality.People need to learn to face it.Everyone has his dreams. However, it is not so easy for people to realize their dreams every time.Just like the man in the picture, instead of the big fish he wishes for, he actually catches a small one.In my opinion, people need to learn to face reality and keep on trying. With another try, they may gain what they dream of.‎ ‎10. Last week, a football match was held between us Class One and Class Two.The players from both sides are excellent football players, so the match went on fiercely at 32‎ ‎ first. At last the result is: the winner is Class Two, and we were the loser. We didn’t win the match, but we didn’t lose heart. On the one hand, we think that friendship comes first, and a match comes second. On the other hand, since we all tried our best, we had no regret. In our life we may meet many failures. As long as we try our best, there’s no need feeling regretful for these failures. What’s more, we should analyze the reasons for the failures to get success next time.In a word, success is important, and so is failure, because it’s the mother of success.‎ ‎11.‎ One Thing I’m Proud of ‎ I still remember how I became a good table tennis player. ‎ The first day I went to high school, I saw some of my classmates playing table tennis. Amazed at how skilful they were, I was determined to be just as good. Later on, I often watched them carefully to learn their techniques. Then I kept practising until I became confident enough to challenge the good players. At the end of the term I became one of the best players in my class. I am really proud of this experience, because it helps me realise that we all can fulfil our potential and achieve our goals through hard work. It also helps me better understand the proverb "Practice makes perfect."  图表作文 ‎1.‎ Possible version one: ‎ The box-office income of Chinese movies witnessed a constant increase from about 17 billion yuan in 2012 to over 40 billion in 2015. However, that increase slowed down in 2016. ‎ The reasons behind this are various. The fast economic development before 2016 was probably the most powerful engine driving the constant growth in the box-office income. The application of new technologies and the wide appeal of movie stars could also account for the increase. However, China saw a decline in its economic growth rate last year. And the internet increased options for movie lovers. Consequently, some viewers began to turn away from cinemas, leading to a slower growth. ‎ China’s economy is expected to grow at a medium speed in the coming years, so an increase is possible in the investment in the movie industry and the number of quality movies. Therefore, its box-office income will probably enjoy a slight increase. Possible version two: ‎ As is indicated in the graph, the box-office income of Chinese films increased constantly from 2012 to 2015, but its growth, for one reason or another, slowed down in 2016. ‎ The increase in the box-office income can be attributed to a number of factors. The quality of life has improved and watching films is regarded as a good means of entertainment. Besides, filming technology has advanced and more quality films are on offer. Moreover, the internet plays an important part. On the internet, people can seek information about their favorite stars and buy tickets at a discount as well, which is both time|saving and economical. ‎ However, the film market may witness a slowdown in the near future. Cinemas have gradually given way to the rise of the internet and cellphones, and the ticket price is on the ‎ 32‎ increase. Therefore, the film industry should make greater efforts to attract more viewers. ‎ ‎2.‎ A survey conducted recently shows that the parents who are proud of their children are twenty percent more than the children who consider themselves as the pride of their parents. ‎ There exist two reasons, which may account for the subtle difference.First, conservative Chinese parents are never accustomed to conveying directly how much they are proud of their kids. This tendency to conceal feelings hardly helps children develop a strong sense of self-confidence. Second, the current educational system excessively emphasizes the value of academic performance, thus forcing children to believe that only by achieving excellent scores can they make their parents proud. This bias unfairly undermines the significance of talents for art and sports, which easily frustrates children and leads them more likely to underestimate themselves. ‎ Without the genuine encouragement from parents and the change of exam-oriented educational methods, a kid would never end up with a positive grown-up. ‎3.‎ ‎ The traffic issue is a hard nut to crack. It not only affects our everyday life, but also may ‎ threaten people’s lives. The three selections presented above are typical examples. ‎ Quite a few things give rise to the traffic problem. In spite of the large-scale construction of ‎ roads and highways, there is still much room for improvement, because of the ever increasing ‎ number of cars these years. What’s worse, some drivers, cyclists and pedestrians do not think it vital to obey traffic rules.  ‎ In fact, traffic rules are part of the rules and regulations closely related to public order. Without them, people could not enjoy harmony and the country would be in chaos. But rules alone don’t secure an orderly society. It is the people who obey the rules that matter. It is everybody’s duty to observe them to keep our society in order and being on the right track.‎ ‎4.‎ Dear Sir/Madam, ‎ I am a student in China and I plan to go to Britain to attend a summer school during the vacation. I’ve seen your ad, and I’d like to know something more about your six-week English course. First, when will the course start and how many class hours are there per week? Besides, I wish there would not be too many students in a class. I’d also like to know how much I have to pay for the course and whether accommodation is included. Would there be host family or university dormitory? I’m looking forward to your early reply.  Yours faithfully, Li Hua ‎5.‎ Conflicts with others are common in everyday life. During the basketball game yesterday afternoon, Su Hua and Li Jiang bumped into each other, trying to catch the ball. Then they started shouting and yelling, and it turned into a horrible quarrel. To be honest, it was Su’s fault but Li was also to blame — they were not calm enough and both said some really hurtful things. They cared too much about winning and losing. As a matter of fact, blocking, pushing and bumping are just part of a tough game. To avoid such conflicts, we should be kind to one another, which is essential to enjoying a 32‎ ‎ harmonious life. It is also a virtue to forgive and forget, especially in such a competitive and stressful society. Instead of blaming each other, we should communicate more and put ourselves in others’ place. Don’t be self-centered and try to be considerate. We must learn to handle conflicts calmly and wisely. 32‎
