Never fail to be thankful to the people around you. 此句为否定结构的祈使句。祈使句否定结构大多由助动词don’t承担。 但若要加强语气,英语可用never替代don’t,表达汉语“千万不要……; 一定别……”的意思。若要进一步强调,表达语气更强的禁止,则可使用 “Never, ever…”结构。 e.g. (1) Don’t come late. 别来迟了。(不要迟到。) (2) Never use dirty words on others. 一定不要对别人说脏话。 (3) This is a loaded gun. Never, ever touch it! 这是一把装有子弹的枪,千万、千万不要碰它! Language points 2. ahead adv. 向前面;在前面 主要用作状语,有时也用作后置定语或表语: e.g. The road ahead was full of sheep. 前面的路上全是羊。 (1)用于 ahead of: ① 指时间或空间的“在……之前”。 e.g. He left one day ahead of me. 他比我早走一天。 ②表示“比……强 (高)” (主要用作表语)。 e.g. He’s ahead of me in English. 他的英语比我强。 ③用于 ahead of time, 意为“提前”或“提早”。 e.g. The work was done ahead of time. 工作提前完成了。 Language points (2)用于 go ahead: ①表示同意或允许,意为“说吧”、“做吧”。 e.g. A:May I start?我可以开始了吗? B:Yes, go ahead. 好,开始吧。 ②表示继续做某事,意为“继续……吧”。 e.g. Go ahead, we are all listening. 继续讲吧,我们都在听呢! 2. ahead adv. 向前面;在前面 主要用作状语,有时也用作后置定语或表语: e.g. The road ahead was full of sheep. 前面的路上全是羊。 Language points 3. separate (1) v.分隔,分离 (常与from连用) e.g. Many families got separated during the war. 战争期间,很多家庭妻离子散。 At this point, the satellite separates from its launcher. 此时,卫星就脱离发射器。 (2) adj. 分开的,独立的,不同的 e.g. David and I have been separated for six months. 我和大卫分开6个月了。 Language points 4. As you set out on your new journey, you shouldn’t forget where you came from. set out 出发 set out on something 开始进行新的或重要的事情 e.g. When we set out on this project, we knew it would be difficult. 我们开始着手这个项目时就知道它很难。 After a three-day rest, the travelers set out again. 这些旅行者休息三天后又出发了。 set about sth./doing sth. 着手做某事 set aside 放在一边, 搁置; 存蓄, 留下 set off 动身,出发; 燃放(鞭炮等) set out 动身,出发 set out to do sth. 打算或着手做某事 set up 竖起来,支起来; 建立, 成立 Language points (2) journey 本义为 “旅程”,此句中用的是它的引申义,即它的隐喻用法, 意思是“(人生的)阶段或行程”。隐喻在英语中很常见: e.g. ① Learning is a life-long journey. 学习是终身旅程。 ② Time is money. 时间就是金钱。 ③ The book is the fruit of the couple’s hard work. 这本书是这对夫妇辛苦付出的成果。 4. As you set out on your new journey, you shouldn’t forget where you came from. 2c Read the passage again and answer the questions. 1. What were the students like in Grade 7? 3.
