阅读理解 A ‎(2017·浙江)‎ FLORENCE,Italy — Svetlana Cojochru feels hurt. The Moldovan has lived here seven years as a caregiver to Italian kids and elderly, but in order to stay she’s had to prove her language skills by taking a test which requires her to write a postcard to an imaginary friend and answer a fictional job ad.‎ Italy is the latest Western European country trying to control a growing immigrant(移民) population by demanding language skills in exchange for work permits,or in some cases, citizenship.‎ Some immigrant advocates worry that as hard financial times make it more difficult for natives to keep jobs, such measures will become a more vehicle for intolerance than integration(融合).Others say it’s only natural that newcomers learn the language of their host nation, seeing it as a condition to ensure they can contribute to society.‎ Other European countries laid down a similar requirement for immigrants, and some terms are even tougher. The governments argue that this will help foreigners better join the society and promote understanding across cultures.‎ Italy, which has a much weaker tradition of immigration, has witnessed a sharp increase in immigration in recent years. In 1990,immigrants numbered some 1.14 million out of Italy’s then 56.7 million people,or about 2 percent. At the start of this year, foreigners living in Italy amounted to 4.56 million of a total population of 60.6 million,or 7.5 percent, with immigrants’ children accounting for an ever larger percentage of births in Italy.‎ Cojochru, the Moldovan caregiver, hoped obtaining permanent residence(居住权) would help her bring her two children to Italy;they live with her sister in Moldova, where salaries are among the lowest in Europe. She was skeptical that the language requirement would encourage integration.‎ Italians always “see me as a foreigner,” an outsider, even though she’s stayed in the country for years and can speak the local language fluently, she said.‎ ‎【语篇导读】本文报道了意大利最近采取的一项限制移民的措施,即要求移民通过一项语言考试来获得工作条件甚至居民身份。‎ ‎1.Why does Cojochru have to take a language test?‎ A.To continue to stay in Italy.‎ B.To teach her children Italian.‎ C.To find a better job in Italy.‎ D.To better mix with the Italians.‎ 答案A 解析细节理解题。根据第一段中的“...in order to stay she’s had to prove her language skills by taking a test...” ‎ ‎2.Some people worry that the new language requirement may . ‎ A.reduce Italy’s population quickly B.cause conflicts among people C.lead to financial difficulties D.put pressure on schools 答案B 解析推理判断题。根据第三段中的“Some immigrant advocates worry that as hard financial times make it more difficult for natives to keep jobs, such measures will become more a vehicle for intolerance than integration.” ‎ ‎3.What do we know about Cojochru?‎ A.She lives with her sister now in Italy.‎ B.She enjoys learning the Italian language.‎ C.She speaks Italian well enough for her job.‎ D.She wishes to go back to her home country.‎ 答案C 解析推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“...she’s stayed in the country for years and can speak the local language fluently...” 29402038〛‎ B Grown-ups are often surprised by how well they remember something they learned as children but have never practiced ever since.A man who has not had a chance to go swimming for years can still swim as well as ever when he gets back in the water. He can get on a bicycle after many years and still ride away.He can play catch and hit a ball as well as his son.A mother who has not thought about the words for years can teach her daughter the poem that begins “Twinkle, twinkle, little star” or remember the story of Cinderella or Goldilocks and the Three Bears.‎ One explanation is the law of overlearning, which can be stated as follows:Once we have learned something, additional learning trials increase the length of time we will remember it.‎ In childhood we usually continue to practice such skills as swimming, bicycle riding, and playing baseball long after we have learned them.We continue to listen to and remind ourselves of words such as “Twinkle, twinkle, little star” and childhood tales such as Cinderella and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We not only learn but overlearn.‎ The multiplication tables(乘法口诀表)are an exception to the general rule that we forget rather quickly the things that we learn in school, because they are another of the things we overlearn in childhood.‎ The law of overlearning explains why cramming(突击学习)for an examination, though it may result in a passing grade,is not a satisfactory way to learn a college course.By cramming,a student may learn the ‎ subject well enough to get by on the examination, but he is likely soon to forget almost everything he learned.A little overlearning,on the other hand,is really necessary for one’s future development.‎ ‎【语篇导读】本文是一篇议论文。 ‎ ‎4.What is the main idea of Paragraph 1?‎ A.People remember well what they learned in childhood.‎ B.Children have a better memory than grown-ups.‎ C.Poem reading is a good way to learn words.‎ D.Stories for children are easy to remember.‎ 答案A 解析主旨大意题。根据文章第一段第一句“Grown-ups are often surprised by how well they remember something they learned as children but have never practiced ever since.” 故选A项。 ‎ ‎5.The author explains the law of overlearning by . ‎ ‎ ‎ A.presenting research findings B.setting down general rules C.making a comparison D.using examples 答案D 解析推理判断题。 ‎ ‎6.According to the author, being able to use multiplication tables is . ‎ A.a result of overlearning B.a special case of cramming C.a skill to deal with math problems D.a basic step towards advanced studies 答案A 解析细节理解题。根据文章第四段中的“...because they are another of the things we overlearn in childhood.” 故选A项。 ‎ ‎7.What is the author’s opinion on cramming?‎ A.It leads to failure in college exams.‎ B.It’s helpful only in a limited way.‎ C.It’s possible to result in poor memory.‎ D.It increases students’ learning interest.‎ 答案B 解析推理判断题。根据文章最后一段第二句“By cramming,a student may learn the subject well enough to get by on the examination, but he is likely soon to forget almost everything he learned.” How opening doors changed this teen’s life Bullying(欺负) is a serious problem.According to Family First Aid,nearly 30 percent of teens in the U.S.are involved in school bullying, whether they’re being bullied or doing the bullying.‎ Josh Yandt, who lives in Ontario, was no exception. And after being bullied for years,he decided to make one simple change when he changed schools:1.   ‎ ‎“The first few weeks when I started doing it Yandt has taken on speaking engagements(演讲),sharing his story with younger students. ‎ ‎“I never thought he would be a public speaker because he used to be so shy,”his mom said.“5. ” ‎ A.The story doesn’t end there.‎ B.He was bullied by the older boys at school.‎ C.Opening a door is more than a physical act.‎ D.He started opening doors for his classmates.‎ E.It is difficult for him to deliver a public speech.‎ F.But he took to public speaking like a duck to water.‎ G.Opening doors gives people hope and shows people care.‎ 答案与解析 ‎【语篇导读】本文是记叙文。一个男孩帮同学开门给自己的生活带来了巨大的改变。‎ ‎1.D 由下文的“Not many people hold doors, right?”可知,Yandt做出的改变就是帮同学们开门。‎ ‎2.C C项与下文的“It’s also about...”相呼应。‎ ‎3.G G项与上文的“putting yourself out there, getting to know people, making them feel comfortable, making them feel welcome”相呼应,都是讲为同学开门的好处。‎ ‎4.A 上文讲述了Yandt为同学们开门使得同学关系变得和谐融洽;下文讲述了为同学们开门还使他学会了公开演讲。故此处应是过渡句A项。‎ ‎5.F F项与上文的“I never thought he would be a public speaker because he used to be so shy”形成对比,突出小小的开门之举却给Yandt带来了巨大的改变。‎ ‎〚导学号29402040〛‎ Ⅲ.语法填空 ‎(2018·吉林长春一模)‎ Jin Hanmiao,a first grader from China, received a reply letter from Buckingham Palace 1.
