Whether it's the first moment they hear a ‎ parent's voice, or they see clearly for the first time with the help of glasses, these moments caught on video are enough to make anyone reach for the tissues.‎ Such was the case when we came across baby Charlotte's story. Charlotte, who her family calls “Charly", was born deaf. She was diagnosed with bilateral profound congenital hearing loss(双侧重度先天性听力损失).“We don't know why or have any answers beyond that at this time. Neither my husband nor myself have a history of hearing loss in our families and nothing really prepared us for this news---shocking news, but not at all sad news,” her mom Christy Keane wrote on Instagram. “This sweet baby is beautiful and so capable of achieving everything she wants in life and we will make sure that happens!”‎ Last week, Charly got her hearing aid. Her parents had no idea how she would respond, but we're so glad they caught the heartwarming moment on camera. In a video of Charly hearing for the first time, she expressed different emotions. As her mom said “I love you” and talked to her, Charly was deeply moved and her facial expressions were truly precious.‎ Keane proudly shared the touching video across her social media accounts. “Charly hears for the first time and hears me say‘ I love you’ for the first time!” Keane wrote on Instagram when she shared the video. “And she's holding back happy tears and as emotional as her mama. We had our miracle moment that I have been praying for when Charly got her hearing aid today. We didn't think she would hear anything so this was more incredible than I can put into words. Her journey to implants and language development is off to an amazing start!”‎ ‎25. The underlined words can be replaced by_______.‎ A. burst into tears B. wild with joy C. But making time to get outside in the sun, even when it's cold out, could have bigger mood benefits than you might realize.‎ While the link between sunshine and mental health is nothing new, the most comprehensive study so far has shown that the association may be even stronger than previously realized.‎ New research from Brigham Young University, published this month in the Journal of A ffective Disorders, finds that sunlight exposure is by far the greatest weather-related factor determining mental health outcomes. In other words, more sunshine, more happiness.‎ For the study, a psychologist, a physicist and a statistician from BYU teamed up to compare ‎ the daily environmental data from the university's Physics and Astronomy Weather Station with the emotional health data recorded by day for 16, 452 adult patients who were being treated at the BYU Counseling and Psychological Services Center.‎ If you're getting enough sun, your emotions should remain relatively stable, the researchers found. But as the amount of sunlight in the day is reduced, levels of distress can shoot up. Other weather variables including temperature, pollution and rain were not found to have an effect on mental health.‎ ‎“We were surprised that many of the weather and pollution variables we included in the study were not significantly related to the objects' scores on the distress measure once we had accounted for suntime,” Dr. Mark Beecher, a professor of psychology at the university and the study's lead author, said. “People tend to associate rainy days, pollution, and other weather-related phenomena with sadness or depression, but we did not find that.”‎ Exposure to sunlight is a significant factor in seasonal affective disorder. Research has shown that the brain produces more of the feel-good neurotransmitter (神经传递素) on sunny days than it does on darker days. What's more, lack of sunlight is linked with a lower vitamin D level, which in turn has been related with depression and low energy.‎ ‎28. According to the research, which of the following affects our mental health most?‎ A. Rain. B. Temperature. C. Pollution. D. Sunlight.‎ ‎29. What can we infer from Paragraphs 4 and 5?‎ A. Two psychologists worked together to do the research.‎ B. The researchers only studied the emotional health data of 16, 452 adult patients.‎ C. The emotional health data of the patients were recorded 24 hours a day.‎ D. People tend to be less happy in the evening than on a sunny day.‎ ‎30. The underlined word “it” in the last paragraph refers to_______.‎ A. exposure to sunlight B. the brain C. vitamin D D. lack of sunlight ‎31. What would be the best title of the passage?‎ A. More sunlight, more happiness B. Pollution has nothing to do with your emotions C. Seasonal affective disorder D. Sunlight gives you more vitamin D D English is full of colourful phrases to describe shyness. Someone who is shy might be called a shrinking violet or a wallflower, while for especially nervous types we have the curious expression: they wouldn’t say boo to goose.‎ None of these are traditionally seen as positive descriptions, even if you like geese. In a culture of high flying achievers, shy people don't come first.‎ Or that's what the self-help industry would have you believe. Bookshops are filled with thick books that promise to help beat social fears and find success in life, love and business. That is why one book, Shrinking Violets, is an instant hit. It made a splash across English-language media recently for its new take on shyness.‎ Author Joe Moran says that in spite of struggling with shyness all his life, being shy can also be “a gift”. Freed from the urge to participate and compete in social situations, people are liberated to look at the world in new ways, and gain fresh insights.‎ Indeed, many of the world’s great thinkers and artists are introverts. Scientists Charles Darwin and Albert Einstein preferred their own company; actress Keira Knightley often finds herself tongue-tied at parties; and Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling says she used to be too nervous to even borrow a pen. She adds shyness forced her into the world of her imagination.‎ Moran said, “I think shyness probably does turn you into an amateur anthropologist, and you are really more likely to be an observer.”‎ So, while extroverts make all the noise, they don't necessarily have the best ideas. If you're shy, you've probably known this for a long time. You just don’t talk about it.‎ ‎32. What kind of people is “wallflower” used to describe?‎ A. Rich people B. Rude people C. Nervous people D. Proud people ‎33. Who will be especially interested in the book Shrinking Violets?‎ A. Someone who has social fears. B. Someone who wants to be a writer.‎ C. Someone who learns English. D. Someone who runs bookshops.‎ ‎34. What do the underlined words “preferred their own company” in Paragraph 5 probably mean?‎ A. Didn’t want to work for others company.‎ B. Didn’t like making friends with someone who is shy.‎ C. Wanted to participate in social situations.‎ D. Loved staying alone more.‎ ‎35. What does the writer mainly want to tell us?‎ A. Some phrases about shyness. B. Ways to overcome shyness.‎ C. Shy people need self-help. D. Shyness is actually “a gift”.‎ 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)‎ ‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ Test anxiety can be a real problem if you’re so stressed out in a test that you can't get over the nervousness to focus on the test questions and do your best work. Feeling ready to meet the challenge can keep test anxiety at a manageable level.‎ Be prepared. Some students think that going to class is all they need to do well on tests. 36 You will find your test anxiety eases when you start to study more regularly. The reason is that the more you know the materials, the more confident you'll feel. Having confidence in going into a test means expect to do well.‎ Watch what you're thinking. If expecting to do well on a test can help you relax, what about if you expect you won't do well? 37 They can contribute to your anxiety. If you find yourself having these thoughts, replace them with positive ones. Don't send unrealistic positive messages, of course, but ones that are practical and true.‎ Accept mistakes. Another thing you can do is learn to keep mistakes in view---especially if ‎ you are a perfectionist or you tend to be hard on yourself. Everyone makes mistakes. You may have heard teachers refer to mistakes as learning opportunities. 38 ‎ ‎ 39 If sitting for a test gets you so stressed out that your mind goes blank and you miss the answers that you know, your level of test anxiety probably needs some attention. Your teacher or your school guidance counselor (顾问) can be good people to talk with。‎ Take care of yourself. For some people, this might mean learning a simple breathing exercise. Practise breathing exercises regularly when you feel stressed. 40 Then you can calm yourself down and get centered A. Ask for help.‎ B. Learn to praise yourself.‎ C. This helps your body receive a signal to relax.‎ D. But good study habits and skills are more important.‎ E. So it's time to regard small failures as valuable experiences.‎ F. Then you will become more interested in asking questions.‎ G. You may send yourself some negative messages about the test.‎ 第三部分: 英语知识运用(共两节,满分45分)‎ 第一节 完形填空(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分)‎ There was once a spider who lived in a field of corn.
