Thus, Hannah and I could drive around Tucson with the top down. Hannah was my best friend, a year younger but much taller, almost five foot ten. And sure enough, that summer she signed with a modeling agency. A month after my birthday, Hannah and I went to the movies. On the way home, we stopped at the McDonald’s drive-through, putting the fries on the seat between us to share. “Let’s ride around for a while,” I said. It was a hot clear night. Turning a corner too fast, I hit a pile of dirt and then drove into a full-grown tree nearby. An impossible amount of blood on Hannah’s face and my cheekbone on the steering wheel. They took us in separate ambulances. In the ER, my parents spoke quietly: “Best doctor in the city…but the end of her modeling career…” When her mother, Sharon came, I started to cry. She sat beside me and took my hand. “I rear-ended(追尾) my best friend when I was your age,” she said. “I destroyed her car and mine.” “I’m so sorry,” I said. “You’re both alive and the rest is window dressing,” she said. I started to protest, but Sharon stopped me. “I forgive you. Hannah will too.” Sharon’s forgiveness allowed Hannah and me to get back in the car together that summer, to stay friends throughout high school and college, to be in each other’s weddings, and to watch our children play together. I think of her gift of forgiveness every time I tend to hate someone for a wrong. And whenever I see Hannah, the scars are so faded that no one else would notice, but in the sunlight I can still see it just below her hairline — for me, a sign of forgiveness. 21. What might be Hannah’s dream? A. To drive a car. B. To grow taller. C. To become a model. D. To work at McDonald’s. 22. What does the underlined word in paragraph 4 most probably mean? A. Find an excuse. B. Show disagreement. C. Make a promise. D. Express sympathy. 23. What is the best title for the text? A. The Magic of Love B. The Cost of a Car Crash C. The Value of Friendship D. The Power of Forgiveness B The 90-minute long game includes two goals, black and white balls, goalkeepers, and no hand use. This sport, of course, is soccer — or football as the majority of the rest of the world says. It’s confusing that some countries call this sport “football” while Americans and a few other countries say “soccer”, but obviously the British are mostly to blame. The name confusion is actually thanks to British universities in the early 1800s who tried standardizing various sports games that had different rules and regulations to differentiate(区分) between them. Rugby, formerly known as “rugby football” or “rugger”, is a version of “football” where you can use your hands. Soccer, originally “association football” or “asoccer”, is the traditional version of “football” where people don’t use their hands. People in England started shortening the names by dropping the “association” part of the phrase as well as the “a” in “asoccer”. Now comes the complex part: in 1869, Rutgers and Princeton colleges held the first traditional, recorded football game using a unique combination of rules from both rugby and soccer, creating what we know as “American football”. Thanks to the popularity of American football, soccer players in America stuck to “soccer” to help differentiate themselves. If the nickname “soccer” stuck in Britain, and if Americans came up with a better nickname for American football, there would be much less confusion. So why did “football” become more popular than “soccer” in England anyway? Originally, American influence on Britain during World War II made “soccer” the popular term in England before the 1980s. Once the sport became more popular in America around that time, the British stopped using “soccer”. 24. Why is rugby mentioned in the text? A. To encourage people to play it. B. To introduce this kind of sport. C. To explain the origin of “football”. D. To show its difference from soccer. 25. British stopped using “soccer” because the sport ______. A. was influenced by World War II B. was still called “soccer” in America C. enjoyed greater popularity in America D. used a combination of rules from two sports 26. In which section of a magazine do we most probably find the text? A. Culture. B. Health. C. Education. D. Entertainment. C Once upon a time, toys didn’t flash. They never needed new batteries. They just sat there doing nothing...until a child came along and unlocked the fun waiting in an ordinary marble(弹珠) or wooden building block. But will future children want to play with such old-fashioned toys? Many experts hope so. The American Specialty Toy Retailing Association provides kids with toys that “focus on what the child can do, rather than what the toy can do.” Some toys help kids develop important skills. Too many special functions make play more about the toy and less about the child. In fact, electronic toys could actually slow down language development in babies, according to a 2016 study. The study found that parents spoke to their babies less when the child had a talking toy. But none of this means that technology and toys shouldn’t mix. Digital toys offer totally new ways to play. Robotic toys may get kids to act as fellows. And augmented-reality toys combine video games with real life. Imaginary things can mix with reality. Or real things can become part of a virtual(虚拟) world. Play-Doh Touch, for example, allows kids to see creatures they’ve made out of Play-Doh and play with them in a mobile game. Perhaps stacking(堆叠) virtual blocks or playing with virtual marbles could offer the same sorts of open-ended experiences as the real-world variety. Besides, blocks and marbles could change size, fly, or do any number of amazing things. And virtual toys could adjust themselves to a player’s age and developmental level. For example, as the child gets better at stacking, blocks could change, increasing the challenge. Digital or virtual toys are most relevant today. Who knows if there will be a place for old-school wooden blocks? 27. Which of the following best describes old-fashioned toys? A. They are simple but still fun. B. They are popular with smart kids. C. They are too complex to play with. D. They are seen as environmentally friendly. 28. The study in paragraph 2 is mentioned to ______. A. introduce the functions of electronic toys B. show the bad influence of electronic toys C. make more parents buy old-fashioned toys D. get children interested in old-fashioned toys 29. According to the text, what benefit can kids get from tech toys? A. Kids can enjoy the company of tech toys. B. Tech toys can solve all real-life problems for kids. C. Kids can realize it is no good living in the virtual world. D. Tech toys can give kids advice on their personal development. 30. What is the author’s attitude towards the future of old-fashioned toys? A. Confident. B. Unconcerned. C. Hopeful. D. Uncertain. Dropping your teens off for their first year of college can be one of the most emotional and stressful experiences of your life. 31 Whether you are the type to drive around campus hoping to catch a glimpse(瞥一眼) of your teens or the type to leave campus as quickly as possible, you will get through this. As the drop-off day approaches, it is normal to struggle with a wide range of emotions. On the one hand, you might have to face anxiety, stress, sadness and worry about this next stage of your children’s life. 32 You might even feel a little excited about what the future holds for them. To avoid anxiety, you may need to remind yourself constantly that you are not losing your kids. You will see them again. In fact, some parents have even found that their children’s newfound independence brings them even closer. Some kids become more communicative. 33 You already know you are going to feel a little sad and that you are going to miss your teens. 34 Instead, keep yourself busy with fun activities. Have some friends over for drinks or go to a movie with your family. Have a nice dinner or plan a mini trip. 35 After all, saying goodbye to your new college students is never easy. But if you get prepared, it will hurt a little less. She desperately wanted to talk to him one last time. Rhonda froze as she heard her four-year-old daughter sobbing quietly in the room that morning in October 1993. The tiny child was hugging a photograph of her father, Ken. Rhonda watched as Desiree gently ran her fingers around her father’s face. “Daddy,” she said softly, “why won’t you come back?” Instead of gradually adjusting to her father’s death, Desiree refused to accept it. “Daddy will be home soon,” she’d tell her mother. When she played with her toy telephone, she pretended she was chatting with him. “I miss you, Daddy,” she’d say. “When will you come back?” November 8, 1993, would have been Ken’s 29th birthday. Rhonda decided to take Desiree to Ken’s grave(坟墓), hoping it would help her come to terms with his death. “How will I send Daddy a card for his birthday?” Desiree suddenly asked. “How about tying a letter to a balloon,” Rhonda thought for a while and said, “and sending it up to heaven?” Desiree’s eyes immediately lit up. Finally came the day. They arrived with bunches of flowers and a big silver balloon. Desiree’s eyes shone as they arranged flowers on Ken’s grave. Then Desiree dictated(口授) a letter to her dad. “Please tell him, ‘Happy birthday, I love you and miss you,’” she said softly. “‘I hope you get this and can write to me on my birthday.’” Rhonda wrote the message and their address on a small piece of paper, which was then wrapped(包起来) in plastic and tied to the end of the string on the balloon. Then Desiree let the balloon go. For almost an hour, they watched the shining spot grow smaller. “OK,” Rhonda said at last. “Time to go home.” Rhonda was beginning to walk slowly when she heard Desiree shout excitedly, “I saw Daddy reach down and take it!” The balloon, which could be seen just moments ago, had disappeared. “Now Dad’s going to write back to me,” Desiree declared as she walked toward the car. 注意: 1. 所续写短文的词数应为150左右; 2. 至少使用5个短文中标有下划线的关键词语; 3. 续写部分分为两段,每段的开头已为你写好; 4. 续写完成后,请用下划线标出你所使用的关键词语。 Paragraph 1: On a cold November afternoon, a couple spotted a silver balloon in the bushes on their way back home. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: A few days after Desiree’s fifth birthday, a package for her was delivered to the family. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 嘉兴市2018~2019学年第二学期期末检测 高二英语 参考答案及评分标准 (2019. 6) 一、听力(每小题1分,满分20分) 1-5 CBBCA 6-10 BCCAA 11-15 BACAB 16-20 CBACB 二、阅读理解(共两节,满分25分) 第一节(每小题2分,满分20分) 21-23 CBD 24-26 CCA 27-30 ABAD 第二节(每小题1分,满分5分) 31-35 CGDEF 三、语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(每小题1分,满分20分) 36-40 BACDA 41-45 BABCD 46-50 BDCDC 51-55 CAADB 第二节(每小题1分,满分10分) 56. to 57. easily 58. What can I do for you? M: We are looking for a hotel. Are there any hotels near here? W: Yes. There are some hotels on this street. The nearest one is next to the bank. It is quite modern. M: Do you think there are any inexpensive ones nearby? We are leaving tomorrow morning. W: Yes. Drive west for about two minutes and you will find a grey building on the right side. It is a traditional family-style hotel, very comfortable, and the price is quite reasonable. M: It sounds nice. Thank you very much for your help. W: That’s all right. Doctor, what is the most important thing for teenagers who want to be healthy? M: Exercise, and lots of it. A teenager needs about an hour of good exercise every day. W: That’s a lot. Won’t they get tired? M: Not if they get enough sleep. A teenager needs about 9 hours a night. Good sleep and lots of exercise can improve their schoolwork, too! W: Cool! What else? M: It’s amazing how many people get sick because they don’t wash their hands often enough. So teenagers should always wash their hands before a meal and after being outside. W: What about food? M: Of course, it’s important to eat well. W: So, no fast food? M: Well, fast food can be OK sometimes. But don’t eat it every day. We have to make some really tough decisions soon. Have you given any thought to your future? M: My father would like to pass the family business on to me. My grandfather started it, and he made my dad really admire him. W: That’s understandable. My family has always been involved in education, and they’re trying to convince me to do the same. I want to be a doctor, though. M: You should follow your dream. My brother is an excellent engineer. He’s my hero. W: Is there anything that excites you? M: I’ve lived in America my whole life. I’ve seen parts of Canada, but it’s not that different. I’d love to travel to France, Spain, Italy, or Germany… W: Cool. I grew up in Asia, and I had the chance to travel through several different countries. M: I need to have money before I do that, though. That’s why I’m getting a job this summer. Are you working, too? W: I thought about it, but I decided to take some classes over the summer. I want to get a head start on my studies. M: It sounds like we’ll both be busy. I hope we can still hang out. W: Of course. I always make time for my friends. (停顿2秒)(重复)(停顿20秒) 听下面一段独白,回答第17至第20四个小题。现在,你有20秒钟的时间阅读这四个小题。(停顿20秒) (Text 10) M: Good morning! I’m Samuel Davis, and this is the ten o’clock news report. I hope everyone is having a fine Monday morning. It’s getting pretty wet out there, so grab an umbrella and stay dry! I’m here today with Matt Miller, who has completed his 29,000-mile journey in just six weeks, with a total of 180 hours in flight. Beginning in California, he made twenty-five stops in fourteen different countries including England, Italy, Greece, Egypt, and Thailand. His final trip was a sixteen-hour flight from Hawaii back to California, just half an hour less than his longest flight from Samoa to Hawaii. Born in South Dakota, Matt is a freshman at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and has said that as a child he was scared of flying. All of that changed when he received his pilot license at just seventeen. After that, he only spent a few years planning everything out before beginning his journey around the world. Matt is here with us today for an interview. Welcome Matt! First, why don’t you tell all our listeners about the craziest thing you saw during your adventures?
