Kevin Curwick, an 18-year-old senior and football captain at Osseo Senior High School in Osseo, Minnesota, started an anonymous Twitter page called @OsseoNiceThings. Kevin uses it to tweet positive things about his schoolmates, singling them out or their strengths and talents.‎ Now his page has thousands of followers, and similar “nice” pages have popped up at other schools. We spoke to Kevin about how he uses Twitter to combat cyberbullying.‎ CHOICES: What made you decide to “tweet nice”?‎ ‎ There was some nasty tweeting going on saying negative things about people at my school. So I created a nice page to help the kids who were being attacked, as well as random people---just to give them a boost in confidence.‎ CHOICES: How does it work? Do you get requests to mention certain people?‎ ‎ People send me a direct message on Twitter, an I keep their message anomymous, so that people can look at it and think, “Wow, this could be anyone saying this about me.”‎ CHOICES: Have your tweets stopped the cyberbullying?‎ ‎ By praising other people by chance and using social networking or social media to encourage a positive attitude, it’s made cyberbullying uncool. I think that a lot of people are looking for the positive, and when you give them that outlet, all the attention is taken away from the bullies.‎ CHOICES: Were you surprised by all the positive responses and celebrity retweets you’ve gotten?‎ ‎ Oh gosh, yes! It developed a lot more than I expected. It was so cool to see how other schools now have their own “nice” pages. ‎ CHOICES: How can other kids use social media for good?‎ ‎ Perform random acts of kindness. Instead of looking through people’s pictures to tear them down, look at it in a different way. Praise people. Most importantly, if you don’t have anything nice to say, just don’t say anything at all. But praises are welcome all the time.‎ ‎21. It can be inferred that the text may be ___________ .‎ ‎ A. an advertisement B. a play script C. an interview D. a personal diary ‎22. How did Kevin Curwick deal with others’ messages?‎ ‎ A. With an intention to keep a record.‎ ‎ B. In order to keep it a secret.‎ ‎ C. With the purpose of spreading in public.‎ ‎ D. Without making a name known to all.‎ ‎23. Kevin advised other kids to use social media___________.‎ ‎ A. to offer as many praises as possible ‎ B. to look through others’ pictures ‎ C. to say something at least ‎ D. to create Twitter page B Cycling or even walking in city areas can be a little dangerous, thanks to the fact that one is sharing the road with vehicles that are increasingly getting larger and heaviver. A recent study proves that of the 1.27 million people that die in road traffic crashes each year, about half are walkers, motorcyclists and cyclists. Now there may be a solution that could provide at least some help to protect this helpless group---an airbag!‎ ‎ If you are worried that this safety measure will involve you taking around a heavy package or worse still, wrapping yourself inside an ugly plastic bag, the bag is fitted not on the human , but on the outside of the vehicle. And,while there are several versions of the idea in the works, the one most recently unveiled by Dutch car company TNO, seems to be the most advanced and ready to go into production.‎ In the works since 2011, the airbag covers only the lower part of the windshield. This will ‎ provide the much needed buffer between the person’s head and the pane of glass he/she would otherwise meet.‎ The chain of events leading to an airbag cause are quite simple---a camera fitted beneath the rear-view mirror monitors the vehicle’s closeness to a walker or cyclist. Any contact with either one of them sets off the sensors in the car’s bumper and quickly blows up the airbag. In addition to that the sensors also set off the car’s automatic brake, reducing the chances of an even worse injury.‎ In tests conducted using a model, the success of not getting injured after being hit by a car traveling at about 40km/h was about 50-50! While not perfect, it will still result in reducing the number of deaths by a huge amount.‎ With TNO ready to license its technology to car makers and many more companies trying to develop similar concepts, we would not be surprised if outer airbags become a standard feature in every car pretty soon! ‎ ‎24. Why does the airbag cover the lower part of the windshield?‎ A. To protect the windshield from being destroyed.‎ B. To make the vehicle look beautiful.‎ C. To reduce the weight of walkers.‎ D. To prevent people's head crashing on the glass.‎ ‎25. The fourth paragraph is mainly about___________.‎ A. how the airbag works B. where the airbag is fixed C. why the airbag is safe D.what the airbag is made up of ‎26. The writer thinks the airbag of TNO________.‎ A. perfect  B. pactical  C. expensive D.useless ‎27. What is the main idea of the passage?‎ A. Airbags are a new standard feature in cars. ‎ B. Airbags are much safer for drivers now. C. Airbags are safe for walkers and cyclists. D. Airbags are a solution to higher car accident rates.‎ C Whenever something looks interesting or beautiful, there’s a natural desire for us to capture  and preserve it---which means,in this day and age, that we are likely to reach for our phones to take a picture.‎ Though this would seem to be an ideal solution, there are two big problems associated with taking pictures. Firstly, we are likely to be so busy taking pictures that we forget to look at the world whose beauty and interest encourages us to take a photograph in the first place. And secondly, because we feel the pictures are safely stored on our phones, we never get around to look at them, so sure are we that we’ll get around to them one day.‎ The first person to notice the problem was the English art critic, John ruskin. He was a keen traveler who realized that most tourists make a poor job of noticing or remembering the beautiful things they see. He argued that humans have a natural tendency to respond to beauty and desire to have it, but there are better and worse expressions of this desire. At worse, we get into buying souveniors or taking photographs. But in Ruskin’s eyes, there’s just one thing we should do --- ‎ attempting to draw the interesting things we see, regardless of whether we happen to have any talent for doing so. ‎ Ruskin said,"Drawing can teach us to see: to notice properly rather than gaze absent-mindedly. In the process of recreating with our own hand what lies before our eyes, we naturally move from a position of observing beauty in a loose way to one where we acquire a deep understanding of its parts.” ‎ Ruskin deplored the blindness and hurry of modern tourists, especially those who prided themselves on travelling around the whole Europe in a week by train , “ No changing of places at a hundred mile an hour will make us stronger, happier, or wiser. There was always more in the world than men could see if they ever walked slowly; they will see it no better for going fast. The really precious things are thoughts and sights, not pace.” ‎ ‎28. Acording to Paragraph 2,when taking pictures, people tend to ___________. ‎ A. find it hard to learn skills of taking good pictures B. find a good way to keep things in their minds C. forget to appreciate something attractive on the spot D.have a chance to meet the challenge of new technology ‎29. According to Ruskin, what should travelers do to best express their appreciation of and desire for something beautiful?‎ A.To speak it out openly.‎ B.To paint it immediately.‎ ‎ C. To purchase it directly.‎ ‎ D. To photograph it instantly ‎30. From the fourth paragraph, we can infer that Ruskin encourages us to be ___________.‎ ‎ A. creative and thoughtful B. active and adventurous ‎ C. considerate and determined D. sensitive and ambitious 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 ‎ Be the friend everyone wants ‎ Some people seem to have a special talent for making friends. Finally, there was only one family between us and the ticket counter.‎ This family made a big impression on me. There were eight children, all probably under the age of twelve. You could tell they didn’t have a lot of money.‎ Their clothes were not expensive, but they were clean. The children were well-behaved, all of them standing in line, two-by-two behind their parents, holding hands. They were excitedly talking about the clowns, elephants, and other acts they would see that night with their brothers or sisters in a low voice.‎ One could sense they had never been to the circus before. It promised to be highlight of their young lives. The father and mother were at the head of the pack, standing proud as could be. The mother was holding her husband’s hand, looking up at him as if to say, “You are my knight in shining armor.”‎ He was smiling and responding in pride, looking back at her as if to say, “You got that right.” The ticket lady asked the father how many tickets he wanted. He proudly responded, “Please let me buy eight children’s tickets and two adult tickets so I can take my family to the circus.”‎ The ticket lady gave the price. The man’s wife let go of his hand, her head dropped, and his lips began to shake. The father leaned a little closer and asked, “How much did you say?”‎ The ticket lady again quoted the price. The man didn’t have enough money.‎ How was he supposed to turn and tell his eight children that he didn’t have enough money to take them to the circus?‎ Actually we were not wealthy in any sense. So I understand how the kids would feel. I felt sorry for them.‎ 注意:‎ ‎1. 所需写的短文词数应为150左右;‎ ‎2. 应使用5个以上短文标有下划线的关键词语;‎ ‎3. 续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已经为你写好;‎ ‎4. 续写完成后,请用下划线标出你所使用的关键词。‎ Paragraph 1‎ Seeing what was going on, my dad put his hand in his pocket, pulled out a $20 bill and dropped ‎ it on the ground. ___________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________‎ Paragraph 2‎ That day my father and I went back to our car and drove home without any tickets. _______________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________‎ 高三年级英语试卷 参考答案 第一部分:听力(共两节,满分30分)‎ ‎1-5 CBACC 6-10 ABBCC 11-15 ABACB 16-20 ABCBA 第二部分:阅读理解(共两节,满分35分)‎ ‎21-23 CDA 24-27 DABC 28-30 CBA 31-35 GFEAB 第三部分:语言运用(共两节,满分45分)‎ ‎36-40 ACBAD 41-45 BBCAD 46-50 DBCAD 51-55 CACDA ‎56. requires 57. creative 58. getting 59. which ‎60. months 61. on 62. strength 63.
