To help parents select the suitable reading materials, a book list for children made by experts was recently released (发布) at the Chinese Museum of Women and Children.‎ The list called Kingdom of Little Bookworms is divided into two parts - one for children aged 3 to 6, and the other for those above 6. "We still don't have an official system of reading levels in China," says Bai Bing, an experienced children's book writer. More than half of the 35 books recommended(推荐)for children under age 6 are picture books in simple language, while the other 42 books for older children deal with wider topics and require better reading ability.‎ During the book list's release, experts also thought that parents' role in forming children's reading habit was very important. "At home, if parents watch TV and are on gadgets all the time, it's hard to imagine that their children will have a good reading habit," says Wang Zhigeng, director of the children's book section at the National Library of China. "Action speaks louder than words. If parents themselves like reading and buying books, the children will follow them and reading will become a family's culture."‎ Wang points out that reading aloud for the children is important. They often occupy a very wild area, with mountains and rivers. To visit the park and look at the animals, people have to drive around — in a car for a few of hours because the park is huge.‎ In south Africa there is a safari park, which contains all sorts of wild animals like lions, elephants, rhinoceroses, zebras, wild pigs, deer and giraffes.‎ There is a wild road leading through the park, but nobody is permitted to walk on the road. Anyone traveling in the park has to go in a car because wild animals may fiercely attack people. From the car he may see almost every type of African wildlife. Some of these are getting scarce (稀有的)because people kill them for various reasons. For example rhinoceroses are killed for their horns, which are used in traditional Chinese medicines for colds and headaches. Perhaps they will be seen only in museums and books one day.‎ Travelers may buy food for the animals. They can feed them when they tour the park. Of course, they should not feed them in a close distance because the wild animals may attack people. In addition, they should only give proper food to the animals.‎ A traveler may carry a gun with him in his journey. The gun is given to him by the government. However, it is not used for hunting. One afternoon I was surprised to see him at a nursing station, complaining to a nurse about one patient’s family. The patient was dying, and the young doctor had organized a meeting with the family to talk about withdrawing life-support machines and starting comforting measures. The family had spent the entire meeting asking questions but then refused to make any decisions or withdraw any treatments.‎ ‎ “I spent all this time telling them we could continue to make their loved one suffer pain or we could make him comfortable,” he said, “I told them suffering or comfort---it was their decision. But in the end, they made no decision and just walked right out of the room!”‎ ‎ The way doctors and patients approach medical decisions has changed sharply over the last 50 years. For generations, these decisions were made by doctors, and patients often had little say in the final choice. But that decision-making process(过程) began to change in the late 1960s.‎ ‎ For the next 40 years, young doctors, myself included, would be trained to restrain(抑制)ourselves from making anything but emergency or small decisions for patients.‎ ‎ But a new study shows that too much physician restraint may not be all so good for the patient. Researchers interviewed more than 8,000 patients at the University of Chicago. When it came to medical decisions, most patients---two out of three---also preferred that their doctors made the final decisions regarding their medical care. “The data says that most patients don’t want to make these decisions on their own,” said Dr. Farr А. Curlin.‎ ‎ For doctors, then, the key to preserving patient-centered care---lies not in letting patients make the final decisions alone but in respecting their opinions and shouldering the responsibility. “We have to stop drawing a circle around patients and their families,” Dr. Curlin said. “We have to stop forcing them to suffer the loneliness and burden of autonomy(自主性) and instead begin standing in ‎ that circle with them.”‎ ‎28. The young doctor the author worked with complained that one patient’s family____________.‎ А. were too rude to him ‎ B. kept asking him questions ‎ C. didn’t agree with his decision ‎ D. made no decision on how to treat the patient ‎29. The underlined word “withdraw” in Paragraph 1 can be replaced by___________.‎ А. paying for B. making a change for ‎ C. considering using D. stopping using ‎30. To preserve patient-centered care, doctors should __________.‎ А. let patients make the final decisions alone ‎ B. respect patients’ opinion and help to make decisions C. draw a circle around patients and their families ‎ D. request autonomy for their patients[]‎ ‎31. What can we learn from the text?‎ А. Most patients prefer to make decisions on their own.‎ B. Letting patients make decisions by themselves is good for them.‎ C. Patients used to have little right in making decisions before the late 1960s.‎ D. Young doctors will be trained to make decisions for their patients in the future.‎ D Bad news sells. If it bleeds, it leads. No news is good news, and good news is no news. Those are “the classic rules” for the evening broadcasts and the morning papers. But now that information is being spread and monitored(监控)in different ways, researchers are discovering new rules. By tracking people’s e-mails and online posts, scientists have found that good news can spread faster and farther than disasters and sob stories. ‎ ‎“The ‘if it bleeds’ rule works for mass media,” says Jonah Berger, a scholar at the University of Pennsylvania. “They want your eyeballs and don’t care how you’re feeling. But when you share a story with your friends, you care a lot more how they react. You don’t want them to think of you as a Debbie Downer. ”‎ Researchers analyzing word-of-mouth communication—e-mails, Web posts and reviews, face-to-face conversations —found that it tended to be more positive than negative, but that didn’t necessarily mean people preferred positive news. Was positive news shared more often simply because people experienced more good things than bad things? ‎ To test for that possibility, Dr. Berger looked at how people spread a particular set of news stories: thousands of articles on The New York Times’ website. He and a Penn colleague analyzed the “most e-mailed” list for six months. One of his first findings was that articles in the science section were much more likely to make the list than non-science articles. He found that science amazed Times’ ‎ readers and made them want to share this positive feeling with others. ‎ Readers also tended to share articles that were exciting or funny, or that inspired negative feelings like anger or anxiety, but not articles that left them just sad. They needed to be aroused(激发)one way or the other, and they preferred good news to bad. The more positive an article, the more likely it was to be shared as Dr. Berger explains in his new book, “Contagious: Why Things Catch On. ”‎ ‎32. What are the classic rules mentioned in the text suitable for? ‎ A. News reports. B. Research papers. ‎ C. Private e-mails. D. Daily conversations. ‎ ‎33. What can we infer about people like Debbie Downer?‎ A. They’re not socially active. ‎ B. They’re good at telling stories. ‎ C. They’re not considerate towards others. ‎ D. They’re careful with their words. ‎ ‎34. Which tended to be the most e-mailed according to Dr. Berger’s research?‎ A. Sports news. B. Science articles. ‎ C. Personal stories. D. Financial reviews. ‎ ‎35. What can be a suitable title for the text?‎ A. Sad Stories Travel Far and Wide ‎ B. Online News Attracts More People C. Reading Habits Change with the Times ‎ D. Good News Beats Bad on Social Networks 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) ‎ ‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 ‎ Knowing how and when to say goodbye is often difficult, even in informal situations. 36 It will help you keep your relationships and let people know you care. It’s also easier than it seems sometimes. Read on to learn how to recognize opportunities and predict others’ needs when you leave.‎ Recognize when to leave. When you’re at any kind of party, or even a one-on-one conversation,it can be difficult to get away. Learning to recognize good opportunities to leave will make a goodbye much easier. 37 If more than half the people have left, it might be a good time to leave.‎ ‎ 38 Overstaying your welcome is rude, but it can often be difficult to tell. People don’t like telling you that they’d like you to leave,so try to watch for signals. This may be some other family members starting to check their watch or even pack up or the fact that there is hardly anyone left.‎ Make plans to see each other again. Saying,“See you at school tomorrow” or “Can’t wait to see ‎ you again at Christmas” keeps the goodbye light and focused forward. If you haven’t already made plans, use it as an opportunity to make them. 39 .‎ Tell the truth. You always come up with a “good excuse” when you’re ready to leave. You don’t need to. 40 It doesn’t need to be any more complicated(复杂的) than that.‎ A. Watch body language.‎ B. Leave when you want.‎ C. Notice if the crowd seems to be reducing.‎ D. Even saying, “See you soon” suggests just that.‎ E. If you want to leave, just say, “I’ll be going. See you later.”‎ F. But learning to say goodbye in a suitable way is a must-have skill.‎ G. Don’t make plans with people you don’t really care about saying goodbye to.‎ 第三部分 英语知识运用(共两节,满分45分)‎ 第一节:完形填空(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分)‎ ‎ 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。‎ I was a shy kid.
