Recent development has made possible machines that print, coo , and serve foods on a mass scale. And the industry isn't stopping there. Food production With a 3D printer, a coo can print plicated chocolate sculptures and beautiful pieces for decoration on a wedding ca e. Not everybody can do that---it ta es years of experience, but a printer ma es it easy. A restaurant in Spain uses a Foodini to" re-create forms and pieces" of food that are" exactly the same,” freeing coo s to plete other tas s. In another restaurant, all of the dishes and desserts it serves are 3D-printed, rather than farm to table. Sustainability(可持续性) The global population is expected to grow to 9.6 billion by 2050, and some analysts estimate that food production will need to be raised by 50 percent to maintain current levels. Sustainability is be ing a necessity. 3D food printing could probably contribute to the solution. Some experts believe printers could use hydrocolloids( 水解胶体)from plentiful renewables li e algae(藻类) and grass to replace the familiar ingredients(烹饪原 料). 3D printing can reduce fuel use and emissions. Grocery stores of the future might stoc "food" that lasts years on end, freeing up shelf space and reducing transportation and storage requirements. Nutrition Future 3D food printers could ma e processed food healthier. Hod Lipson, a professor at Columbia University, said, "Food printing could allow consumers to print food with customi ed nutritional content, li e vitamins. So instead of eating a piece of yesterday 's bread from the supermar et, you' d eat something ba ed just for you on demand." Challenges Despite recent advancements in 3D food printing, the industry has many challenges to over e. Currently, most ingredients must be changed to a paste( 糊状物)before a printer can use them, and the printing process is quite time-consuming, because ingredients interact with each other in very plex ways. On top of that, most of the 3D food printers now are restricted to dry ingredients, because meat and mil products may easily go bad. Some experts are doubtful about food printers, believing they are better suited for fast food restaurants than homes and high-end restaurants. 28. What benefit does 3D printing bring to food production? A. It helps coo s to create new dishes. B. It saves time and effort in coo ing. C. It improves the coo ing conditions. D. It contributes to restaurant decorations. 29. What can we learn about 3D food printing from Paragraph 3? A. It solves food shortages easily. B. It quic ens the transportation of food. C. It needs no space for the storage of food. D. It uses renewable materials as sources of food. 30. What is the main factor that prevents 3D food printing from spreading widely? A. The printing process is plicated. B. 3D food printers are too expensive. C. Food materials have to be dried. D. Some experts doubt 3D food printing. 31. What could be the best title of the passage? A. 3D Food Printing: Delicious New Technology B. A New Way to Improve 3D Food Printing C. The Challenges for 3D Food Production D. 3D Food Printing: From Farm to Table 【答案】28. B 29. D 30. C 31. We are rewarded for A's, the honor roll and acing the test. Our education trains us to follow the rules and deliver the expected answers. When we do, awards and congratulations follow. Yet when we grow up, it gets a little harder. Life and careers don’t have tests with an A if we get the “right” answer. I recently had coffee with a college student who will graduate. She is struggling with what she wants for her career. She wants her parents to be proud of her and to continue the success she has had in school. She also tal ed about other students in her graduating class who are set to do "some big things," li e wor ing for impressive panies. Yet she wasn't sure of the right answer for using her degree. She said that deep down she was hoping that someone might give her the answer. We both agreed that it es down to not loo ing for the right answer, but her answer. The grown-up definition of the “right answer" is different than that in school. What would you do if you weren't afraid? It ta es time to now these answers. And they can change over time and at any point in your career. My encouragement is to get valued advice and input, of course, but finally to loo within yourself for the answers. It helps to e bac to: What do I want to be nown for? What is my definition of success? What am I best at? If I had no fears, what would I do? What is one step I can ta e today to move me toward my goal (even if it's not perfectly clear)? I find these types of questions are more helpful at getting to our unique answer rather than “right answer” questions, such as: What will my parents want? What degree or job will mar me as ac plished to the world? What is my best option based on where I wor today? 32. What does the author mean to say in the first paragraph? A. Life is harder for adults than children. B. Academic excellence is not necessary. C. It is not helpful to follow the rules in school. D. Rules in life are different from those in school. 33. What is wrong with the college student? A. She does badly in her studies. B. Her parents are not proud of her. C. She feels pu led about her life career. D. She is not sure whether to do" some big things". 34. When loo ing for the answer in life, you need to . A. trust your parents B. listen to your heart C. follow valued advice D. learn from your classmates 35. Which of the following questions might not help you to see your answer? A. What do I love to do? B. What matters most to me in life? C. What will ma e me loo successful? D. What will I regret not doing when I'm 80? 【答案】32. D 33. C 34. B 35. What is my definition of success? What am I best at?If I had no fears, what would I do?What is one step I can ta e today to move me toward my goal (even if it's not perfectly clear)?”可知,A,B,D选项都是发自内心的问题。故C选项正确。 【点睛】把握关键词是解决推理判断题的重要方法之一。分析第二段“She is struggling with what she wants for her career.
