Looking back I think I was also a bit depressed, but I had to get on with taking care of my daughter the best I could. One day I thought I would take my daughter to the park for a nice day as she liked there, and I thought it was a nice thing to do. I decided to walk because the bus was expensive, so it took us a long time to get there. When we finally got there, immediately my daughter began to cry. She was cold, she was thirsty, and she wanted to go home. To be honest, I had not prepared properly. I didn’t even have any money to buy a drink or to take the bus back home. I was so frustrated and cross with myself that my dream of a nice day failed. I started walking back home (it was nearly 2 miles), and my daughter would not stop crying. I felt so miserable and cross with(生…的气)myself and my life that I started crying too. At that point a car stopped and a gentleman offered us a lift. He took us home, and seemed really concerned-he even offered me all his change! The kindness of this stranger to a stranger like me really made me feel better. Let’s make believe(假装; 虚构) it is about 45 years from now. Of course, things have changed and life is very different. Voyages to the moon are being made every day. It is as easy to take a holiday on the moon today as it was for the people in 1960 to take a holiday in Europe. At a number of scenic spots on the moon, many hotels have been built. The hotels are air-conditioned, naturally. In order that everyone can enjoy the beautiful scenery on the moon, every room has at least one picture window. Everything imaginable is provided for entertainment of young and old. What are people eating now? People are still eating food. They haven’t yet started to take on heir (继承) supply of energy directly as electrical current or as nuclear power. They may some day. But many foods now come in pill form, and the food that goes into the pill continues to come mainly from green plants. Since there are several times as many people in the world today as there were a hundred years ago, most of our planet’s surface has to be filled. The deserts are irrigated with water and crops are no longer destroyed by pests. The harvest is always good. Farming, of course, is very highly developed. Very few people have to work on the farm. It is possible to run the farm by just pushing a few buttons now and then. People are now largely vegetarians(素食者). You see, as the number of people increases, the number of animal decreases. Therefore, people have to be vegetarians and we are healthier both in our bodies and in our minds, and we know the causes and cure of disease and pain, and it is possible to get rid of diseases. No one has to be ill any more. Such would be our life in 2060. 28. When was the passage written? A. In about A. D. 2060. B. In about 2015. C. In about 2014. D. In about 1960. 29. According to the passage, what will be on the moon in about A. D. 2060? A. Many other animals. B. Many tourists. C. Many plants. D. A sea. 30. The passage tells us that in 2060, _____ on the earth than now. A. there are fewer people B. there are more pests C. the crops are getting better D. there is less water 31. Why are people vegetarians in 2060? A. They want to lose weight. B. They want to be healthier. C. They hate eating meat. D. They don’t have enough animals. D Giving children music lessons won’t just introduce them to music―it could also greatly improve their language skills. While many studies have shown that learning an instrument can affect things like the language ability, it isn’t understood if this is a side effect of a general improvement of cognitive (认知的) skills, or something that directly affects language processing. Now, we are getting closer to an answer, thanks to a study of 74 Chinese kindergarten children, led by Robert Desimone from MIT. For the study, Desimone’s team chose children from the Chinese education system, with the support of education officials who wanted to see how it might improve their learning. The 4- to 5-year-old Mandarin-speaking children in the study were divided into three groups. One group received a 45-minute piano lesson three times a week, while another received extra reading instruction classes. The third group acted as controls, taking no extra lessons beyond their usual classes. The classes lasted for six months, after which the children were tested on their ability to tell words based on differences in tones, consonants (辅音), or vowels (元音). The test results showed that the children who had taken piano lessons performed better at telling the difference between words that differ by a single consonant, when compared with the children who took extra reading lessons. Compared to the control group, both the music learners and the extra reading group did better in telling the difference between words based on vowel differences. “It looks like for recognising differences between sounds, including speech sounds, it’s better than extra reading. That means schools could pay more attention to music,” Desimone says. “It’s not worse than giving extra reading to the children, which is probably what many schools are trying to do―get rid of the art education and just have more reading.” 32.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 3 refer to? A. A study of children’s schooling. B.Learning a musical instrument. C. The Chinese education system. D. Improvement of cognitive skills. 33.What did the third group learn in the study? A. Ways to improve their study. B. Three extra piano lessons a week. C. Extra lessons about reading tips. D. Nothing except their usual studies. 34.What conclusion did researchers draw at last? A.The extra reading group were good at telling vowels. B. Children taking piano lessons didn’t perform well. C. Learning music improved learners’ memory. D. The piano turned out to be better than other instruments. 35.What can we learn from what Desimone says? A. Children who learn music perform better at school. B. It isn’t wise to cut back on music lessons. C. Schools will increase reading classes. D. Many schools value art education. 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 When you step into a new environment, you must have a strong wish to fit in. As you mentioned in your letter, China has been sparing no effort to fight the battle and our victory is around the corner. Virus knows no borders, but the worst of times reveals the best in people. So, I’d like to share some measures which prove effective in the fighting. First of all, do not panic and stay at home if possible. Do wear masks once out, and avoid mass gathering, especially face-to-face contact with others. In addition, wash hands when back from outside and exercise regularly to strengthen your immune system. Most importantly, everyone should have a positive attitude to the situation and ensure a proper involvement in government’s action. Attitude means everything. Best wishes. Yours sincerely, Li Hua查看更多
