It is a treasure we should protect. Unfortunately, the better friends you are, the more probably you’ll have disagreements. And the result can be what you don’t want, an end to the relationship.‎ The good news is that most troubled friendships can be mended. First, don’t let your pride get in your way. Most of us can forgive each other when differences are brought out in the open. Second, apologize when you’re wrong—even if you’ve been ‎ wronged. Over the course of a friendship, even the best people make mistakes. Sometimes, it may be best if the wronged person takes the lead and apologizes. When you apologize, give your friend a chance to admit that he has been wrong. Third, see things from your friend’s point of view. And finally, accept that friendships change as our needs and lifestyles change. Making friends can sometimes seem easy. The hard part is keeping the connections strong during the natural ups and downs that have an effect on all relationships. My suggestion: consider the friendship an honor and a gift, and worth the effort to treasure and nurture (培养). ‎ ‎21.What would be the best title for the text?‎ ‎ A.Easy Ways to Make Friends ‎ ‎ B.Ups and Downs is Friendship ‎ C.How to Mend a Troubled Friendship ‎ ‎ D.How to Take the Lead in Making Friends ‎22.“Wronged person” underlined in the text refers to a person ________.‎ ‎ A.who has been mistaken for another B.who has been blamed unfairly ‎ C.who has treated friends badly D.who has admitted his mistakes ‎23.According to the text,a friendship can last long only if ________.‎ ‎ A.we have much in common B.we know our friends’ mistakes ‎ C.we treat our disagreements wisely D.we have known one another for long ‎24.What should we do if we follow the author’s second suggestion?‎ ‎ A.Stick to our own point of view. B.Avoid making mistakes.‎ ‎ C.Make an apology first. D.Change our lifestyles.‎ ‎ ‎ B ‎ Hundreds of years ago, a Roman army came north from England to make war on Scotland The Scots, a brave people, loved their country very much. They fought hard to drive the enemy out of Scotland, but there were too many of the Romans. It looked as if the Romans would win. ‎ ‎ One night, the leader of Scots marched his soldiers to the top of a hill. But if you can’t stay with me at my worst, you are sure not to deserve (值得) to be with me at my best.” Always remember this! If you don’t want to stay with your friends when they’re in hard times, then you don’t deserve to be with them when they’re having a good time!‎ ‎ Make plans — Try to make plans with your friends. Go shopping, go for ice cream, have a party, go to a movie and so on. Take time to know each other even better by doing something you both enjoy. Nelson for tonight. . . ‎ M: Ah, my name is Charles Nelson, not Charles C. Nelson. ‎ W: I'm sorry. Let me check this again. Oh, yes. Charles Nelson, a room for one for the 19th of May.‎ M: No, a room for tonight, not for tomorrow evening. ‎ W: I'm really sorry, but I don't think we have any rooms for tonight. Well, let me check my computer here. Ah! There has been a cancellation for this evening. A honeymoon room is now available. ‎ M: Great. I'll take it. ‎ W: But I'll have to charge you 250 dollars for the night. Well, the best I can give you is a 10% discount plus a ticket for a free breakfast. ‎ M: Thank you very much!‎ ‎ (Text 10) ‎ Good morning. This is Lydia speaking. Now I have no other choice but to call you ‎ to complain about the recent purchase of a woolen sweater from your department store on Philip Street, on September 25th. I recently washed the sweater in cool water, following the instructions. However, when I moved it from the machine, the sweater became too large and wrinkled and no longer fit me well. I phoned the store last Tuesday, which was October 12th, and spoke to the shop assistant, a Mr. Morris, who was rather rude on the phone and informed me that I could not get a replacement sweater as it was purchased at a reduced price. Later I phoned again but once more received a cold answer from one of your helpline staff that she could do nothing to help. I felt really upset, for I have been a regular customer of your store for many years and until this incident, I've never had any complaints. I must tell you, I feel disappointed to be treated in such a manner. I demand an apology for this manner. And I think you should have a talk with your workers. I’m expecting you to ring me back as soon as possible.‎
