He told a meeting of regional leaders that his country’s growth rate had tumbled "a bit too much." ‎ ‎"China's inflation is also declining, so we need to be very careful to see if the disinflation trend will continue, and if deflation will happen or not," said Zhou, His remarks were made at the Boao Forum for Asia, an annual conference on the island of Hainan in southern China. Zhou added that China could "have room to act" by taking "quantitative measures" and setting interest rates.‎ For many, the way he described China’s health was no surprise. The country’s economy has not been growing this slowly since the 1990s. Companies in debt are seeing sickly profit margins.‎ ‎ Banks are carrying loads of debt, too, and the housing market is slowing. China’s official 2015 GDP growth target is 7%, but that seems shaky.‎ Acknowledging that significant intervention has to be on the table is a big deal for China. Everyone has known for years that this slowdown was coming because the government is purposely transitioning its economy from one based on foreign investment to one based on domestic consumption. It is a brutal process, but the government knows it is the only way the country will become the self-sustaining superpower it wants to be.‎ ‎(Barlcays)Until now, while the Chinese government had acknowledged the slowdown was rough, it had assured the world that the situation was under control. Just a few weeks ago, Chinese officials were saying they would be monitoring deflation but still were not that keen on intervening with policy measures. ‎ Now it seems they are warming to the idea. In January, China’s headline consumer price inflation hit 0.8%, then it bounced back up to 1.4% in February. March probably isn’t looking that great either from the People’s Bank of China’s point.‎ ‎"Widening PPI deflation and soft CPI inflation, especially after adjusting for seasonal effects, point to persistent deflation risks," Barclays wrote after February's number came out. "In our view, the monetary policy needs to be more 'proactive' in order to deal with the cyclical challenges in the near term." ‎ ‎21. Which of the following illustrates “growth rate had tumbled” in Paragraph 1? ‎ ‎ A. setting interest rates B. economic transition ‎ ‎ C. bounce(反弹) of CPI D. FIGURE 1‎ ‎22. We can infer from the passage that one of the solutions to the slowdown could be _______ if needed.‎ ‎ A. monitoring deflation B. expanding foreign investment ‎ C. making new policy measures D. reducing domestic consumption ‎23. Which of the following could be the best title for the passage?‎ ‎ A. Zhou's admission is a big deal and a little bit irresponsible.‎ ‎ B. The Chinese government has admitted that things aren't going so well.‎ ‎ C. China should be more active in its struggle against inflation.‎ ‎ D. China's economy has been growing fast since the 1990s.‎ B Alan, 17, was randomly shot and killed by a gang member. His father, Keith, and his mother, Donna, were filled with anger as they followed the all-consuming ongoing investigation into the killing. A close couple, friends of Keith and Donna's, dropped in one evening and said to them, "You have to accept this loss. Your son is gone and none of this is going to bring him back. All ‎ you need now is acceptance." Keith got angry with his friend and asked, "What part of Alan's death don't you think I accept? Believe me, I hate to be in so much pain."‎ Acceptance is not about liking a situation. It is about acknowledging all that has been lost and learning to live with that loss. It would be too soon for Keith to be able to accept the situation. He can acknowledge the reality of the loss, but it would be unrealistic to think he should have found some peace with it by then.‎ The gang member who killed Alan was sentenced to life in prison, and Keith and Donna went back to their own lives. But Keith actually had a new loss to deal with, an emptiness, which made the absence of his son's loss even louder.‎ It is important for people to understand that gradually, in your own time, you can begin to find some peace with what has happened. In situations such as murder, it is vital to understand we have a legal system, not necessarily a justice system. Acceptance is a process that we experience, not a final stage with an end point.‎ No one else could know how much acceptance Keith was capable of or how time would affect his process. After five years, Keith felt he had found as much acceptance as possible. Then he was notified that the shooter was up for his parole ( 假释 ) hearing. Keith was once again filled with anger. The proceedings were brief and parole was denied. Keith was struck by how quickly it happened and by the tears of the shooter's father. For the first time, Keith realized that there were victims on both ends of the gun.‎ Keith walked over and shook his hand. At that moment, something happened: Keith’s anger was replaced by a curiosity. He wanted to know what this other father's life was like and what led him to the same place. Over the next few years, the two men worked together helping gang members stop the violence and find their place in the world. ‎ Keith's acceptance was a journey deeper than ever expected. And it happened over many years, not many months or days. Not everyone will or can fully embrace those who have hurt us, as Keith did, but there is always a struggle that leads us to our own personal and unique acceptance.‎ ‎24. Alan’s parents were very angry at their son’s death because _______.‎ ‎ A. he was innocently killed ‎ ‎ B. he was a member of a gang ‎ C. their friends brought the truth back to them ‎ ‎ D. the murders were soon released ‎25. Which of the following gives the true meaning of “acceptance” according to this passage?‎ ‎ A. Acknowledging the reality. ‎ ‎ B. Seeking justice for what has been lost.‎ ‎ C. Embracing the pain that has made you hurt.‎ ‎ D. Finding some peace with what has happened.‎ ‎26. What personality can we infer from the passage about Keith?‎ ‎ A. Tolerant. B. Timid. C. Irresponsible. D. Just.‎ ‎27. The journey of acceptance is _______.‎ ‎ A. necessary but unrealistic B. uniquely characterized ‎ C. full of curiosity and violence D. not long but unexpected C Every generation of teenagers is expert at finding new ways of driving their parents mad.‎ ‎ When I was young it was a simple matter of under-age drinking, unsuitable boyfriends or long conversations on the telephone, which could be easily seen by the entire family.‎ These days the technology of parent-crazing is absolutely more complicated. Today's teenagers conduct their rebellions(叛逆)online, watching YouTube clips, posting private images on their Facebook pages and seeking friends with strange hobbies, which are enough to freeze their parents' blood.‎ Danah Boyd, a Harvard academic, spent seven years being absorbed in teenage culture, attempting to explain young people to the adults who worry about them. Boyd interviewed 166 adolescents about their online lives, hung out with teens in public places and spent countless hours observing teens. From these interviews, she intended to explain the aspects of teenaged online behaviour that adults find most unacceptable.‎ Teenagers are normally considered by the society as “public threats or targets easily harmed”. However, the youths interviewed by Boyd argued that they would prefer to interact directly, but that their parents' concern for their safety and the loss of public spaces limited them to the home. The Internet has become their alternative meeting place.‎ Many writers couldn't resist reading Boyd's findings. Boyd's analysis of teenage life is realistic and profound. After reading much of what she discovers, most parents can give a sigh of relief. The kids are all right, but they want to be understood. They are not so different from their parents after all.‎ ‎28.The author writes the first two paragraphs to .‎ ‎ A. express the public's concern about the Internet ‎ ‎ B. explain how complicated the society has become ‎ C. warn us of the danger the Internet brings to people ‎ ‎ D. show today's teenage rebellions are different from the past ‎29. What's the author's attitude to Boyd's research?‎ ‎ A. favorable B. doubtful C. indifferent D. critical ‎30.According to Danah Boyd, .‎ ‎ A. young people have lost interest in public spaces ‎ B. parents are partly responsible for teenaged online behavior ‎ C. surfing the Internet at home should be limited most of the time ‎ D. all the children are actually free from the bad effect of the Internet ‎31.What's the purpose of the author's writing the passage?‎ ‎ A. To discuss how modern technology influences teenagers.‎ ‎ B. To introduce Danah Boyd's research on networked teenagers.‎ ‎ C. To analyze the reasons why teens are lost in the Internet.‎ ‎ D. To criticize those parents who misunderstand their children.‎ D One hundred years ago, "Colored" was the typical way of referring to Americans of African descent. Twenty years later, it was purposefully dropped to make way for "Negro." By the late 1960s, that term was overtaken by "Black." And then, at a press conference in Chicago in 1988, Jesse Jackson declared that "African American" was the term to welcome. This one was chosen because it echoed the labels of groups, such as "Italian Americans" and "Irish Americans," that had already been freed of widespread discrimination.‎ A century's worth of calculated name changes point to the fact that naming any group is a ‎ politically freighted exercise. A 2001 study cataloged all the ways in which the term "Black" carried connotations (涵义) that were more negative than those of "African American."‎ But if it was known that "Black" people were viewed differently from "African Americans," researchers, until now, hadn't identified what that gap in perception was derived from. A recent study, conducted by Emory University's Erika Hall, found that "Black" people are viewed more negatively than "African Americans" because of a perceived difference in socioeconomic status. As a result, "Black" people are thought of as less competent and as having colder personalities.‎ The study's most striking findings shed light on the racial discriminations permeating(渗透,弥漫) the professional world. Even seemingly harmless details on a CV, it appears, can tap into recruiters'(招聘人员)discriminations. A job application might mention affiliations(关系) with groups such as the "Wisconsin Association of African-American Lawyers" or the "National Black Employees Association," the names of which apparently have consequences, and are also beyond their members' control.‎ In one of the study's experiments, subjects were given a brief description of a man from Chicago with the last name Williams. To one group, he was identified as "African-American," and another was told he was "Black." With little else to go on, they were asked to estimate Mr. Williams's salary, professional standing, and educational background.‎ The "African-American" group estimated that he earned about $ 37,000 a year and had a two-year college degree. The "Black" group, on the other hand, put his salary at about $ 29,000, and guessed that he had only "some" college experience. Nearly three-quarters of the first group guessed that Mr.Williams worked at a managerial level, while only 38.5 percent of the second group thought so. ‎ Hall's findings suggest there's an argument to be made for electing to use "African American," though one can't help but get the sense that it's a decision that papers over the urgency of continued progress. Perhaps a new phrase is needed, one that can bring everyone one big step closer to realizing Du Bois's original, idealistic hope: "It's not the name--it's the Thing that counts."‎ ‎32. We can conclude from Erika Hall's findings that______.‎ ‎  A. Racial discriminations are widespread in the professional world.‎ ‎  B. Many applicants don't attend to details on their CVs.‎ ‎  C. Job seekers should all be careful- about their affiliations.‎ ‎  D. Most recruiters are unable to control their racial biases.‎ ‎33. Which of the following statements is NOT true according to the passage?‎ ‎ A. Jesse Jackson embraced the term “African American” because it is free from discrimination.‎ ‎ B. the naming of any ethnic (种族) group is political sensitive.‎ ‎ C. Before the study conducted by Erika Hall, researchers had identified the causes of the gap in perception of racial discrimination.‎ ‎ D. A man identified as “African American” is thought of as more capable than he is identified as “Black”.‎ ‎34. Erika Hall’s experiment about a man with the last name Williams indicates that ______.‎ A. African Americans fare better than many other ethnic groups. B. Black people's socioeconomic status in America remains low. C. People's conception of a person has much to do with the way he or she is labeled.‎ D. One's professional standing and income are related to their educational background.‎ ‎35. From the underlined sentences in the last paragraph, we can know that Dr. Du Bois's hope is ________.‎ ‎ A. All Americans enjoy equal rights.‎ ‎ B. A person is judged by their worth.‎ ‎ C. A new term is created to address African Americans.‎ ‎ D. All ethnic groups share the nation's continued progress.‎ 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分, 满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容, 从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ ‎ A study by the researchers at the University of California discovers that the American middle class families focus on their children by spoiling them in lots of ways, but not in a way designed to help those children stand on their own two feet. Instead, the focus seems to be on treating them almost like toddlers (蹒跚的人). 36 ‎ ‎ Let's see how parents are ruining their kids. On sports fields or stages they often applaud too loudly and too long for their kids' ordinary efforts. While at home, they end up running around the house like slaves to their daughter, almost doing everything for their kids. A mother may add extra clothes to her daughter's messy closet. 37 It makes them happy.‎ ‎ It is, in fact, almost effortless to please kids, compared to the much harder work of carving character into kids. It is really a tough task to teach kids to carry their own weight, think their own thoughts and have courage to face challenges fearlessly. 38 ‎ ‎ Good parenting---like every good relationship---relies on telling your kids the truth. 39 Parents should avoid the easy things that make them lean against you for support in a world that is too tough for them to depend on their own.‎ ‎ Parents are, in fact, their children's first teacher. 40 He can't afford to do what feels good and let time pass effortlessly, because it just slips away, without any growth being accomplished.‎ ‎ A. It feels good to show a child that you “love her” two dozen times a day.‎ ‎ B. Parents should let children do the tough things that build them up for real.‎ ‎ C. Those are what they need to make responsible citizens.‎ ‎ D. Children should be taught to be patient even if they are dying to tell you something.‎ ‎ E. And a good teacher isn't a glad-hander or a cheerleader.‎ ‎ F. Many children are over dependent on their parents even when they are much older.‎ ‎ G. It's easier to grab your son's schoolbag than to tell him to do it by himself.‎ 第三部分 英语知识运用(共两节, 满分45分)‎ 第一节 完形填空(共20小题;每小题1.5分, 满分30)‎ ‎ 阅读下面短文, 从短文后所给各题的四个选项(A、B、C、D)中, 选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项, 并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。‎ Individuals who often read fiction appear to better understand other people, empathize(共鸣) with them and view the world from their perspective. A study found a(an) 41 result in young children: the more stories read to them, the 42 their “theory of mind,” or mental model of other people’s intentions. “Deep reading” —as 43 to the superficial reading we do on the Web — is an 44 practice, one we should take steps to 45 as we would a historic building or a significant work ‎ of art. Its 46 would put in danger the intellectual and emotional development of generations growing up online, as well as literature that can be 47 only by readers whose brains, quite 48 , have been trained to understand them. Recent research has demonstrated that deep reading is a 49 experience, different from the mere decoding of words. 50 deep reading does not, strictly speaking, require a 51 book, the built-in limits of the printed page are uniquely conducive(有助于) to the deep reading experience. A book’s lack of hyperlinks(超链接), for example, 52 the reader from making decisions — Should I click on this link or not? — 53 her to remain fully immersed in the narrative. The deep reading of books and the information-driven reading we do on the Web are different, both 54 the experience they produce and in the 55 they develop. A growing body of evidence suggests that online reading may be less 56 and less satisfying, even for the “digital natives” for whom it is so familiar. When readers are enjoying the experience the most, the 57 of their reading actually slows. The 58 of fast, fluent decoding of words and slow, unhurried progress on the page gives deep readers time to enrich their reading with 59 , analysis, and opinions. It gives them time to establish an close relationship with the author, the two of them engaged in an extended 60 like people falling in love. ‎ ‎41. A. different B. similar C. efficient D. unbelievable ‎42. A. quicker B. stronger C. keener D. higher ‎43. A. contradicted B. equal C. opposed D. relevant ‎44. A. interesting B. endangered C. authentic D. unconscious ‎45. A. preserve B. prevent C. reserve D. promote ‎46. A. practice B. existence C. appearance D. disappearance ‎47. Harry Potter was rejected. 61 was The Twilight Saga. If authors J. K. Rowling and Stephenie Meyer hadn’t kept trying with one 62 (publish) after another, we 63 (miss) out on some great adventures.‎ Rejection doesn’t have to be about the big thing like not getting into your top college, not making the team, or 64 (get) asked to the prom (舞会). Everyday situations can lead to the feeling of rejection, too, like if your joke doesn’t get a laugh, if no one remembers to save you a seat at the lunch table, or if the person you really like talks to everyone 65 you.‎ Feeling rejected is the 66 (oppositely) of feeling accepted. 67 being rejected (and we will all be at 68 (time)) doesn’t mean someone isn’t liked, valued, or important. It just means that one time, in one situation, with one person, things didn’t work out.‎ Rejection hurts. But it’s impossible to avoid it altogether. In fact, you don’t want to— people who become too afraid of rejection might 69 ( hold) from going after something they want. Sure, they avoid rejection, but they 70 (guarantee) miss out on what they want but won’t try for.‎ ‎61. ‎ ‎62. ‎ ‎63. ‎ ‎64. ‎ ‎65. ‎ ‎66. ‎ ‎67. ‎ ‎68. ‎ ‎69. ‎ ‎70. ‎ How time flies! I can still remember the first day of the summer camp. I came to my bedroom by myself. When I opened a door, I saw a girl with short hair seating in a chair with a book in her hand. “She must be a quiet girl who likes reading”, I thought myself at the time.
