Speak, speak, speak! Practise speaking as often as yon can--even speaking to yourself is good practice.Try recording yourself whenever you can. Compare your pronunciation with the master version, see how you can do better and have another go.If yon do this several times, you will find that each version is better than the last. Why not learn with someone else? It helps if you can learn with someone else. If yon can persuade a friend or family member to study with yon,it will make you keep working.Agree times to meet and set goals for the week, and test each other regularly. Don’t get stuck by a word you don’t know Ptactise improvising(即兴的)ways of getting your meaning across when speaking spontaneously(本能地),even if yon don't know the exact words or phrases.Think of things yon might want to say whenever yon have spare time.A basic example is the rise of tenses. If you don't know the past tense but want to talk about yesterday, use the verb in the present tense and use the word for“yesterday”.Use facial expression, hand movements, anything to get your meaning across. Happy? Angry? Calm? etc. Build up your vocabulary A wide vocabulary is the key to successful language learning but don't try to learn too mach at once. It’s best to study frequently, for short periods of time.Take a maximum of six or seven items of vocabulary and learn them.Put them into sentences to fix them in your mind, then come back to them later.Much of the vocabulary in the course is presented by topic. One year, two guys took the class and did pretty well on all the quizzes and mid-terms. They each had a solid A. These two friends were so confident in going into the final that the weekend before finals week, despite the Chemistry final being on Monday, they decided to go to the University of Virginia to party with some friends. They had a great time there. However, with their hangovers(宿醉) and tiredness, they overslept all day Sunday and didn’t make it back to Duke until early Monday morning. Rather than taking the final then, they found professor Bonk after the final and explained to him how they missed the final. They told him they went up to the University of Virginia for the weekend and had planned to come back in time to study, but they had a flat tire on the way back and didn’t have a spare. So they were late getting back to campus. Bonk thought this over and agreed that they could take the final the following day. The two guys, happy and relieved, studied that night and went in the next day at the time that Bonk had told them. He placed them in separate rooms and handed each of them a test booklet. He told them to begin. They looked at the first problem which was something simple about solution(溶解). It was worth 5 points. “Cool,” they thought, “this is going to be an easy final”. The fear of talking on the phone in a second language will disappear if you practice often. Here are a few tips for helping you improve your ability to answer a call in English. 51._______________ Listening to someone speaking in a second language over the telephone can be very challenging because you cannot see the person you are trying to hear. However, it may be even more difficult for the person you are talking with to understand you. You may not realize that your pronunciation isn’t clear because your teacher and fellow students know and understand you. Pay special attention to your weak areas of your pronunciation when you are on the phone. 52._______________ Don’t pretend to understand everything you hear over the telephone. Even native speakers ask each other to repeat and confirm information from time to time. This is especially important if you are taking a message for someone else. Learn the appropriate expressions that English speakers use when they don’t hear something properly. Don’t be afraid to remind the person to slow down more than once. Keep your telephone in an area that is away from other noise distractions such as a radio or television. 53._______________. Ask another student to practice talking on the phone with you. You might choose one night a week and take turns phoning each other at a certain time. Try to talk for at least fifteen minutes. You can talk socially, or role play different scenarios in a business environment. The most important thing about practicing telephone English is that you are not able to see each other’s mouths. 54. _______________. There are many ways to get free telephone English practice. After business hours, you can call and listen to recorded messages. Write down what you hear the first time, and then call back and check if your notes are accurate. Make sure you have a pen handy so that you can repeat the information and check your comprehension. 55._______________. The way that you speak to your best friend on the phone is very different from the way you should speak to someone in a business setting. Many speakers make the mistake of being too direct on the telephone. It is possible that the person on the other line will think that you are being rude on purpose if you don’t use formal language in certain situations. Sometimes just one word such as could or may is necessary in order to sound polite. Take the time to learn how to answer the phone and say goodbye in a polite manner, as well as all the various ways one can start and end a conversation casually. Listening to someone on the telephone is like listening to a taped recording in class. The only difference is that you have to talk back! Follow the tips above and remember that practice makes perfect! A. Use business recordings B. Speak slowly and clearly C. Learn telephone manners D. Practice often with a friend E. Always be considerate of your friends F. Make sure you understand the other speaker 第II卷 (共40分) 第三部分: 第一节:短文改错(共10小题,每小题1分,满分10分) My little cousin is greatly interested on science. Now many students use mobile phones. They think it’s a fashion to use mobile phones. Besides, it’s very convenient to get in touch with their families and friends by using mobile phones. But some students break the rules in class. They bring their mobile phones to the classroom and we often hear the ring of mobile phones in class. Some of them even waste precious time in class sending short messages with the mobile phones. In my opinion, the classroom is a place for students to gain knowledge. Therefore quietness is badly needed for us to learn our lessons. Those with mobile phones shouldn’t use the mobile phones in the classroom. We are supposed to concentrate on our studies. The school should make a rule to forbid the students to use mobile phones in the classroom.查看更多
