Without company, Agatha walked home along the quiet street. Suddenly from the shadow of a dark building, a tall man with a sharp knife in his right hand ran out at her. “Good morning, lady,” the man said in a low voice, “I don't think you wish to die here!”“What do you want?” Agatha asked.‎ ‎ “Your earrings (耳环). She tried to cover her necklace with the collar (衣领) of her overcoat while she used the other hand to take off both of her earrings, and then she quickly threw them on the ground.‎ ‎ “Take them and let me go.” she said. The robber was uncertain. He saw that the girl didn't care for the earrings at all, only trying to protect the necklace. He realized the necklace would cost more, so he said, “Give me your necklace.”‎ ‎ “Oh, sir. It's not worth much. Please let me keep it.”‎ ‎ “Stop talking rubbish. Quick!”‎ ‎ With shaky hands, Agatha took off her necklace. I kept asking him to sit down, telling him that he would concentrate better. He sat but seconds later, he got up again. I was getting annoyed, but then it hit me: I started noticing his answers were much quicker and right when he stood up. Could he be focused while standing up?‎ This made me start questioning myself. I was raised to believe that a quiet child was more likely to succeed. This child would have the discipline to study hard, get good grades and become someone important in life. Kids that were active and loud would only be objects of stares.‎ Now people perhaps come to realize that their kids are born with their own sets of DNA and personality features, and all they can do is loving and accepting them. As parents, throughout their growing years and beyond that, we need to be our kids’ best cheerleaders, guiding them and helping them find their way. ‎ I have stopped asking my son to sit down and concentrate. Obviously, he is concentrating, just in his own way and not mine. We need to accept our kids, and their ways of doing things. This way may have worked for me but doesn’t mean we need to carry it through generations. ‎ There is nothing sweeter than seeing our children being individual. It makes us happy and that’s just the way I want my kids to live life. ‎ ‎26. According to the passage, the author tried to keep his son seated so that ________.‎ ‎ A. he could finish his homework on time B. he couldn’t bother the author ‎ C. he could pay more attention to his study D. he could keep silent in the room ‎27. Inspired by the case of his son, the author began to doubt ________.‎ ‎ A. the importance of parents B. the old form of education methods ‎ C. the relationship between kids and their parents D. the good grades of some kids ‎28. In the past, what kind of child is unlovable?‎ ‎ A. Those who are active and loud. B. Those who are obedient and calm.‎ ‎ C. Those who are talkative and humorous. D. Those who are shy and careful.‎ ‎29. What does the author think of teaching children?‎ ‎ A. Encouragement is important. B. A fine example is necessary in the school.‎ ‎ C. Children shouldn’t be punished. D. Children can not be taught in the same way.‎ ‎30. In the opinion of the author, children should ________.‎ ‎ A. have no freedom B. be friendly to their parents ‎ C. have their own style D. learn from their friends ‎ C ‎“Cleverness is a gift while kindness is a choice. Gifts are easy – they’re given after all. Choices can be hard.” –– Jeff Bezos.‎ ‎ I got the idea to start Amazon 16 years ago. I came across the fact that the Internet usage was growing at 2,300 percent per year. I’d never seen or heard of anything that grew that fast, and the idea of building an online bookstore with millions of titles was very exciting to me. I had just turned 30 years old, and I’d been married for a year. I told my wife MacKenzie that I wanted to quit my job and go to do this crazy thing that probably wouldn’t work since most start-ups don’t, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. MacKenzie told me I should go for it. As a young boy, I’d been a garage inventor. I’d always wanted to be an inventor, and she wanted me to follow my passion.‎ ‎ I was working at a financial firm in New York City with a bunch of very smart people, and I had a brilliant boss that I much admired. I went to my boss and told him I wanted to start a ‎ company selling books on the Internet. He took me on a long walk in Central Park, listened carefully to me, and finally said, “That sounds like a really good idea, but it would be an even better idea for someone who didn’t already have a good job.” That logic made some sense to me, and he convinced me to think about it for 48 hours before making a final decision. Seen in that light, it really was a difficult choice, but finally, I decided I had to give it a shot. I didn’t think I’d regret trying and failing. And I believed I would always be haunted(萦绕)by a decision to not try at all.‎ ‎ After much consideration, I took the less safe path to follow my passion, and I’m proud of that choice. For all of us, in the end, we are our choices.‎ ‎31. What inspired the author with the idea of building an online bookstore?‎ A. The desire to follow his passion. B. The strong support of his wife.‎ C. The increasing usage of the Internet. D. A bookstore with millions of exciting titles.‎ ‎32. What was the author’s situation before starting Amazon?‎ ‎ A. He was a garage inventor. B. He was in search of a good job.‎ ‎ C. He was more than thirty years old. D. Do quickly.‎ ‎34.What can we know about the author from the passage?‎ A. He got approval from his boss. B. He wanted someone else to try the idea.‎ C. He might not regret if he failed the idea. D. However, there is nothing fixed about attitudes to dirt.‎ ‎    In the early 16th century, people thought that dirt on the skin was a means to block out disease, as medical opinion had it that washing off dirt with hot water could open up the skin and let ills in. A particular danger was though to lie in public baths. By 1538, the French king had closed the bath houses in his kingdom. So did the king of England in 1546. Thus began a long time when the rich and the poor in Europe lived with dirt in a friendly way. Henry IV, King of France, was famously dirty. Upon learning that a nobleman had taken a bath, the king ordered that, to avoid the attack of disease, the nobleman should not go out.‎ ‎    Though the belief in the merit (好处) of dirt was long-lived, dirt has no longer been regarded as a nice neighbor ever since the 18 century. Scientifically speaking, cleaning away dirt is good to health. Clean water supply and hand washing are practical means of preventing disease. Yet, it seems that standards of cleanliness have moved beyond science since World War II. Advertisements repeatedly sell the idea: clothes need to be whiter than white, cloths ever softer, surfaces to shine. Has the hate for dirt, however, gone too far?‎ ‎    Attitudes to dirt still differ hugely nowadays. Many first-time parents nervously try to warn their children off touching dirt, which might be responsible for the spread of disease. On the contrary, Mary Ruebush, an American immunologist (免疫学家), encourages children to play in the dirt to build up a strong immune system. And the latter (后者) position is gaining some ground.‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ 高一3月答案 一、听力。‎ ‎1-5 BACBB 6-10 BCABC 11-15 BCAAC 16-20 ABCAA 二、阅读理解 ‎21AABDC 26—30CBADC 31-35 CDACD 36-40 EDAGB 三、完型填空。‎ ‎41~45 ACDBA 46~50 CDCBA 51~55DABDD 56~60CBADB 四、 短文填词(共10 小题;每小题1分,满分10分)‎ ‎ 61. which 62. (要点 1 ) For a long time in history, people of some European countries, such as France, believed that dirt protected people from getting ill. (要点 2 ) However, people began to change their attitudes to dirt about 200 years ago. People have been told that washing dirt off our body can keep us healthy. (要点 3) However, some scientists believe that exposure to some dirt may help our immune system. (要点 4)‎ ‎    ‎ ‎ 1. 文章第一段就是本篇文章的主题句,亮明了总的观点:However, there is nothing fixed about attitudes to dirt. 换句话说:Different people have different attitudes towards dirt. 再结合下文谈到的主题可知Different people have different attitudes towards dirt on the skin. 范文中的要点1“People have mixed opinions towards dirt on our skin. ”概括非常精炼。‎ ‎     2.第二段主要谈到了在16世纪,人们认为dirt on the skin was a means to block out disease,尤以英、法两国的贵族为代表。结合第三段第一句Though the belief in the merit of dirt was long-lived, dirt has no longer been regarded as a nice neighbor ever since 18 century.可知,直到18世纪之前,人们都认为dirt是很“友好的”,有助于预防疾病。范文中的要点2 “For a long time in history, people of some European countries, such as France, believed that dirt protected people from getting ill.”很好地总结了这些要点。‎ ‎     3. 第三段用Though引出人们对dirt观点的转变“…since the 18th century. Scientifically speaking, cleaning away dirt is good to health.”再结合本段最后一部分Advertisements repeatedly sell the idea…可得出要点3“However, people began to change their attitudes to dirt about 200 years ago. People have been told that washing dirt off our body can keep us healthy.”‎ ‎     4. 文章最后一段第一句指出,现在人们对于dirt的态度还是有所不同,On the contrary引出专家的观点,一位免疫学家认为dirt有助于增强免疫系统。这一观点获得了一些支持。范文中的要点4“However, some scientists believe that exposure to some dirt may help our immune system.”表达很恰切。‎ ‎    文章概要,在写完了要点之后,下一步的工作就是要把这些要点用适当的连接词进行连接,使上下句之间具有连贯性。本篇文章整篇结构是总分的结构,要点2和要点3在观点上截然相反,因此,之间需要表示转折的连接词,范文用了However恰到好处。要点3和要点4在观点上又存在不同,因此,还是用表转折的连接词However。不过小编认为,此处用Nevertheless可以避免三句话内出现两次However。‎ ‎     第一段:fixed (确定的;不变的)   第二段:means (手段,方法), block out (挡住), open up (打开), upon (……之后;立即)   第三段:long-lived (长期存在的), sell the idea (说服某人接收某个观点) 第四段:warn sb off (警告某人不要靠近), position (观点), gain some ground (取得优势)‎ 听力材料 Text 1‎ W: I saw Kate meeting her mother at the airport this afternoon.‎ M: It’s impossible. Although Haines and his family lived here from 1880 until his death in 1915, he was not the original owner of the house. It was built much earlier for a banker who later became a minister. It was bought in 1924 by the State and opened to the public shortly after. The Haines family returned some possessions and furniture to the house for visitor’s enjoyment. I would like to pull your attention to the library on your left. Through the open door, you can see the desk where Haines wrote many of his famous speeches. The living room to your right was used when guests visited. But Haines often sat with his close friends in the kitchen at the back of the house. It was there that they discussed bills that later became law. The Haines liked to spend some time each day in the sunroom. It was here that Haines liked to write letters and sometimes play the violin while his wife, Martha, sowed or took care of her plants. We will now visit the rooms I have just described, beginning with the library. ‎
