Dumbo (March 29) Dumbo is a 1941 American film produced by Walt Disney Productions. The main character is an elephant who is nicknamed “Dumbo”. Dumbo is always laughed at for his big ears, and he is rejected by the other elephants. With no parent to care for him, he is alone. But in fact, he is capable of flying by using his ears as wings. It will be the first film version of the character since the 1941 series Adventures of Captain Marvel (the character’s original name). Aladdin (May 24) Aladdin is a fictional character and the role of the film Aladdin (1992) based on Aladdin a folk tale of Middle Eastern origin. He is voiced by Scott Weinger, while his singing voice is provided by Brad Kane. Aladdin never received a formal education, and has only learned by living on the streets of Agrabah. Dumbo is a 1941 American film produced by Walt Disney Productions. The main character is an elephant who is nicknamed “Dumbo”. Dumbo is always laughed at for his big ears, and he is rejected by the other elephants. With no parent to care for him, he is alone.《小飞象》是一部上映于1941年的美国电影,由华特迪士尼公司出品。 中写道“It will be the first film version of the character since the 1941 series Adventures of Captain Marvel (the character’s original name).” 在介绍电影Aladdin中写道“Mena Massoud is set to play a live-action version of the character in a live action adaptation of the 1992 film.” B Facebook is a place where we share and celebrate memories with our friends and family. We post words and pictures honoring birthdays, anniversaries and weddings. We also show respect to the people we lost, and find sympathy and support among our friends. Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s chief operating officer, recently shared a moving post about her late husband, Dave Goldberg, on what would have been his 48th birthday. “Today my family and friends and I mourn that he was taken away from us so suddenly and so young,” wrote Sandberg, 46, tagging Goldberg’s memorial page. “It has been a long 22 weeks, grappling moment to moment and day to day with the often overwhelming void (空虚) that his death has left in our lives.” She shared photos of Goldberg—one from their wedding and the other of what appears to be him as a child. The Facebook manager went on to thank her family and friends for their ongoing support, and to praise her husband’s achievements as a father and CEO of the company Survey Monkey. Sandberg said in a Facebook post back in June, in ceremony of the end of the first month for her husband’s death, “I was talking to a friend Phil about a father-child activity that Dave is not here to do. We came up with a plan to fill in for Dave. I cried to him, ‘ But I want Dave. He put his arm around me and said, ‘Option A is not available. So let’s just kick the shit out of option B.” 4. Facebook is a place where we ________. A. have our daily activities B. have commercial activities C. mainly honor our dead relatives D. exchange something we remember with people around us 5. What does the underlined word “grappling” in Paragraph 3 mean? A. Expecting. B. Struggling. C. Missing. D. Reminding. 6. What can we know about Sandberg’s husband? A. He died last May. B. He was Phil’s boss. C. He died of cancer. D. He was head of Facebook. 7. What can we infer from the phrase “kick the shit out of option B” in the last paragraph? A. It’s a game in which Phil is kicked out. B. Sandberg can’t live without Goldberg. C. Sandberg refuses Dave as her husband. D. They will find a person taking the place of Dave. D 5. B 6. A 7. 文中“Facebook is a place where we share and celebrate memories with our friends and family. 同D选项“Facebook is a place where we exchange something we remember with people around us” Facebook是我们与周围的人交流记忆的地方,意义一致,故选D项。 文中“Today my family and friends and I mourn that he was taken away from us so suddenly and so young,” wrote Sandberg, 46, tagging Goldberg’s memorial page. “It has been a long 22 weeks, grappling moment to moment and day to day with the often overwhelming void (空虚) that his death has left in our lives.” 文中 “Sandberg said in a Facebook post back in June, in ceremony of the end of the first month for her husband’s death”今年6月,在她丈夫去世的第一个月底的仪式上,桑德伯格在Facebook上发帖说。 文中“Option A is not available. So let’s just kick the shit out of option B.” A选项不存在,所以让我们尽可能用B选项吧。 C Children are now more likely to want to work in social media or gaming than traditional careers, a survey has found. According to the new research, many seven to eleven-year-olds are looking at modern technology when they think about future jobs, rather than professions such as police officer or doctor. Children’s career aspirations are often based on factors such as gender stereotypes or what they’ve seen in the media, TV and film. Around 21% said they wanted to be sportsmen or sportswomen, followed by 11% wanting to be teachers, and 7% wanting to be vets. Another 6% wanted to work in social media and gaming. This was a sign that there had been “a shift in the aspirations of children, built largely upon new communication methods and the growth of online and console-based gaming”. “For more and more children and young people, online celebrities and YouTube gaming ‘vloggers’ have taken the place of TV and movie stars,” the report said. Social media and gaming is the fourth most popular career choice for children, while singer/musician and actor/actress further down the list at ninth and thirteenth. “It could be argued that this is due to the growing fame and attraction of YouTube and video blogging stars, who are especially popular among younger audiences.” Also, these choices may also speak to children’s present worlds. Many seven to eleven-year-olds will spend their time gaming and perhaps simultaneously watching celebrity gaming bloggers instructing them how to do it. The survey found that 5% of children who took part wanted to be in the police, with the same proportion planning on becoming doctors. A gender breakdown shows the top job choice for girls was teacher (19%), followed by vet (11%) and sportswoman (9%), while for boys it was sportsman (34%) followed by social media and gaming (9%) and police (8%). This highlights the pressing need for closer ties between employers and schools, to make sure that all children have access to role models in a wide range of sectors to help them develop an awareness of career options at an early age. “This is important to ensure that all children—regardless of gender and backgrounds—can fulfill their full potential.” 8. What is concluded in the study? A. Children prefer online celebrities to an actor now. B. Children spend more time playing games. C. Children are addicted to social media. D. Children know nothing but modem technology. 9. What has contributed to changing children’s career aspirations? A. Gender stereotypes. B. The new methods of communication. C. Their different backgrounds. D. Their level of education. 10. What do the numbers in the last but one paragraph suggest? A. Vets are disliked by girls. B. Girls aren’t suitable for police. C. Gender influences children’s choice of a job. D. Sports stars are popular with boys and girls. 11. Why do children need an awareness of career choices early? A. They can build close relationship with employers. B They can work in different sectors. C. They can become role models. D. They can explore their potential fully. A 9. B 10. C 11. 文中 “For more and more children and young people, online celebrities and YouTube gaming ‘vloggers’ have taken the place of TV and movie stars,” the report said. Children prefer online celebrities to an actor now现在,孩子们更喜欢网络名人而不是演员,是正确的。 文中 “This was a sign that there had been “a shift in the aspirations of children, built largely upon new communication methods and the growth of online and console-based gaming.” A gender breakdown shows the top job choice for girls was teacher (19%), followed by vet (11%) and sportswoman (9%), while for boys it was sportsman (34%) followed by social media and gaming (9%) and police (8%). 推理判断题的题干特点:推断隐含意义的题干中常含infer(推断),suggest(暗示),imply(暗示),indicate(暗示),conclude(推断,得出结论)等词语。 We can know from the passage that; We can infer from the (first/last) passage that ;The passage/author implies/suggests that ;It can be concluded from the passage that ;The underlined sentence indicates that D People from all over the world filled the cruise ship (游轮). My husband, Dale, and I were sailing along the Alaskan coast, and there were so many things to do : eat delicious food, swim in the pool or relax in the cafe. But I couldn’t stop thinking about my secret dream: to sing on a cruise ship. You must have thought I was crazy. Back when Dale and I went on our first cruise, the music made me want to sing onboard, to share the joy I got from the cruise. We greeted the other passengers in the cafe, and the host said something to get things started. Then he opened the floor to anyone who wished to speak. Dale raised his hand. “My wife has a song she’d like to sing.” The host nodded his head. The other passengers looked at me hopefully. I stood up, my heart beating fast. Dale held my hand. The group applauded (鼓掌) as I finished the final note. Yd barely touched the chair when someone called out, “Sing another one!” Everyone agreed. I sang two more songs. What a day! What a trip! The next afternoon, Dale and I were walking to our room when I heard my name. It was a woman from the cafe. “Won’t you sing something for me?” I sang right there in the hallway. Heads turned toward me. One man nodded to my words. A woman smiled as she passed. We continued to our room. But we didn’t make it far. Another woman stopped us. “You have a great gift,” she said. We sailed on. And all the way, people kept asking me to sing. Dale and I had gotten used to it by now. I felt honored, but not because the other passengers liked my voice. 12. Why did the author look forward to singing on a cruise ship? A. To show off her gift on music. B. To attract more attention. C. To make more friends. D. To express her joy with the music. 13. Why did the host open the floor on the cruise ship? A. To encourage others to speak. B. To invite someone to enter the cabin. C. To invite people present to drink. D. To advise starting a dance party. 14. What can we know about the author from the text? A. She was a professional singer. B. She sang two songs in the cafe at that time. C. She felt nervous the first time she sang in the cafe. D. She became famous all over the world after that sail. 15. Why did the author feel honored? A. She could sing songs with beautiful voice. B. She could do anything as she wished. C. She was popular among other passengers. D. She finally realized her secret dream. D 13. A 14. C 15. 文中 “Back when Dale and I went on our first cruise, the music made me want to sing onboard, to share the joy I got from the cruise.” 文中 “We greeted the other passengers in the cafe, and the host said something to get things started. Then he opened the floor to anyone who wished to speak.” A选项文中没有提到;文中“when someone called out, “Sing another one!” Everyone agreed. I sang two more songs. I stood up, my heart beating fast. 由“But I couldn’t stop thinking about my secret dream. I felt honored, but not because the other passengers liked my voice”可知,作者想在游轮上唱歌,用音乐表达自己的快乐,这也是她的秘密梦想,而这个梦想最终实现了,因此她感到很荣幸。 According to the UN’s World Happiness Report for 2017, Denmark is officially the happiest country on Earth.
