B.The author often forced his opinions on his son.‎ C.The author tried to do what he could for his son D.The author taught his son by example.‎ ‎27.The author develops the article mainly by_____. ‎ A.providing examples B.making comparisons C.following the natural time order D.presenting causes and effects C Pollution's great effects on the environment have become more obvious in recent years, leading to a movement to promote energy efficiency(效率),less reliance on fossil(化石) fuels, and a reduction in air and water pollution. Most scientists agree that such changes are necessary to protect our environment from further harm.‎ The construction industry consumes a large quantity of energy and resources and creates a huge amount of pollution. In the United States, building and development account for 39% of the country's total energy use, 12% of total water consumption,68% of total electricity consumption and 38% of carbon dioxide emissions(二氧化碳排放), according to the Environment Protection Agency.‎ Green buildings use less energy, water, create less waste, and are healthier to live, work, and go to school in than standard buildings.Builders of green buildings use techniques that use resources more efficiently during the entire building cycle—construction, restoration, operation, maintenance(维护)and demolition(拆毁)—than those who construct more regular buildings.‎ The environmental benefits of building green include the protection of ‎ ecosystems(生态系统)and biodiversity, improved air and water quality, less waste flowing into streams, and the protection of natural resources.Green buildings can also result in lower operating costs because they typically use less energy and fewer materials and improve indoor air quality, improving the health of people who live in such buildings.‎ The process of building green includes technical and artistic planning with nature protection in mind.Building designs often reflect the surrounding environment and natural resources and use renewable building materials such as bamboo and straw. In addition, recycled resources found locally are used for green buildings, reducing the cost and air pollution associated with transporting materials over long distances.‎ Careful site selection is important to minimize(最小化)human impact on the surrounding environment. For example, placing a structure in an area that allows it to take advantage of cool breezes(微风)and sunlight can reduce energy use and expenses.More energy and expense are needed for larger buildings as well,so it is important to build small.‎ Green roofs are another feature of green houses that reduce energy use and cost. These roofs are partly or completely covered with plants, which helps to keep heating and cooling costs, prevent water running off and deal with pollutants.‎ Other features of green buildings often include energy and water conservation, recycling, and waste reduction. In addition, renewable energy sources such as solar power, hydropower(水能)and wind power are used for heat and electricity, which greatly reduces costs and decreases the impact on the environment.‎ ‎28.What is the text mainly about?‎ A.The necessity of promoting energy efficiency. B.The process of building green buildings.‎ C.The benefits and features of green buildings. D.Green buildings effects on the environment.‎ ‎29.According to the text, green buildings refer to the buildings that______.‎ A.produce no waste B.only use clean energy C.are made of recycled materials D.use energy and resources more efficiently ‎30.Which of the following statements is TRUE about green buildings?‎ A.They rely on fossil fuels and solar power for heat and electricity.‎ B.Small buildings are less efficient in energy use than larger ones.‎ C.The ecosystem has to be considered when building a green building.‎ D.They are difficult to maintain and thus need more operating costs.‎ ‎31.Why are green roofs used ?‎ A.They fit the surrounding environment well B.They are cheaper than other kinds of roofs C.They can keep natural water for use in everyday life D.They can help to control the temperature in the building well D In recent years,China has witnessed the growth of luxury(奢侈品)brands. In this market,Chinese consumers are now the largest spenders. It's clear that a new generation ofyoung, materialistic people is increasingly relying on luxury brands to improve its self-image(自我形象).‎ I am a fashionist too,at least in spirit—I love to look at clothes and shoes. But I don't understand why people spend lots of money on designer labels.‎ When a young woman buys a handbag that costs two months of her salary, that's a scary thing.‎ What's interesting is that scientists have found that having luxury things doesn't lead to happiness.‎ Study after study has shown that although we want material things, when we get them we don't suddenly become “happy” people. In fact,a series of studies by Leaf Van Boven at the University of Colorado,US,has shown that individuals who spend money on travel and similar experiences get more pleasure than those who invest it in material things. That's because experiences are more easily integrated into a person's identity. If I travel to Yunnan, that adventure affects how I think in the future. My memories become a part of me.‎ Moreover,as Van Boven has observed, young people who pursue(追求)happiness through "things" are liked less by their peers(同龄人).People prefer those who pursue happiness through experiences.‎ It's natural to want to express yourself through your appearance. So,my advice is: create a look that isn't tied to a designer label.Convey your own message.Take some lessons from the late Apple cofounder Steve Jobs.He was always in Levis jeans and a black turtleneck.Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, routinely appears in hoodies and sneakers. These people.successful people, have style. You don't have to break the bank to send a message about who you are.‎ Take a trip.Go out into the world. Then come back and confidently create your own signature look.‎ By Susan Chyn ‎32.What can we infer from the first three paragraphs?‎ A.The author enjoys buying luxury brands herself.‎ B.The author sees no point in spending money on material things.‎ C.The author is critical of youths tying their looks to designer labels.‎ D.The author finds it natural for fashionists to follow fashion trends.‎ ‎33.What did Leaf Van Boven's studies show?‎ A.Traveling changes a person's identity greatly B.People dislike those who love luxuries C.Experiences can bring people more happiness than luxuries D.Luxuries have a negative effect on people's happiness ‎34.What's the author's advice on expressing oneself?‎ A.Be selective about designer labels. B.Create your own personal, unique style.‎ C.Choose styles that are simple and comfortable. D.Try styles like Mark Zuckerberg’s.‎ ‎35.What is the main purpose of the article?‎ A.To persuade readers to invest in experiences instead of luxuries.‎ B.To prove how luxury leads to an unpleasant life.‎ C.To tell how to express yourself through appearances.‎ D.To report on a series of studies about luxuries and happiness.‎ 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ Many teenagers want to look cool._36_Chloe Murray,an eighth-grader at Jefferson Middle School in the US, realized this problem and established a charitable clothes closet(衣橱)to help her peers.‎ ‎_37_The school let her use a room for the project.Chloe's classmates joined her as well.‎ Last month, the charitable clothes closet, called Chloe's Closet,opened._38_“Confidence is a real issue in middle school, especially when it comes to clothing,”Chloe told the Chicago Tribune,a daily newspaper in Chicago,US.‎ Where are the clothes from? Many people from the school's community and neighboring schools donated used and new clothes. The clothes closet is only open after school.Students can "buy" these clothes by earning "money" when they tum in their schoolwork on time, make corrections on homework, participate in a school activity or express helpfulness to their peers and teachers._39_‎ ‎“_40_Then,they will be better able to focus on the learning material rather than paying too much attention to what they are wearing,”Shannon Arko,a language arts teacher at the school, pointed out the mission of the closet. "Feeling good about yourself translates into a better learning experience overall."‎ A.Her school supported the idea too.‎ B.But not everyone can afford to keep up with the changing fashion trends.‎ C.Fashion has already become an important part of students' lives.‎ D.You need to supply children with basic needs, such as clothing.‎ E.It's filled with trendy clothes for girls and boys to help students look their best.‎ F.Despite all these difficulties, she was able to start a charitable clothes closet.‎ G.Since the first week in March, about 100 items have been "sold" to students.‎ 第三部分 英语知识运用(共两节,满分45分)‎ 第一节 完形填空(共20小题;每题1.5分,满分30分)‎ 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。‎ As a banker,Chip Paillex had never planted so much until he moved to rural Pittstown,New Jersey, seven years ago._41_by farms,he quickly became interested in growing and rented a 30-by-30-foot land. One weekend,he_42_ tomatoes, potatoes and eggplant—enough to feed his family for the summer.‎ He ended up with so much_43_that he couldn't give it away. Thus he found a local food_44_,and by the time he delivered his last_45_,he had_46_120 pounds of fresh vegetables. ‎ The following year, with a handful of_47_from his church and a memorable name ‎ “America's Grow-a-Row”,Paillex planted,_48_,and harvested 2,500 pounds of vegetables, all of which he donated to food banks.Later he had more volunteers, rent more land and donated more vegetables.‎ Pailex also_49_local school kids.On a_50_Friday morning in May,40 third and fifth graders trooped onto a freshly plowed field,each_51_with a spade.Squatting or kneeling in teams of two, they loosened the dirt, then carefully_52_the plants.Several rows later, they eagerly lined up to seed corn under a hot midmorning sun.Nobody _53_.‎ ‎“The_54_makes kids know there are people_55_,says Paillex,”and it plants the seed for giving back. When they become tomorrow's_56_,it will be much more possible for them to_57_their coworkers and employees to get_58_in something like this.‎ ‎“Paillex makes people want to_59_,”says Colleen Duerr,a mother of two who has signed on as an_60_ "Grow-a-Row" member.“And families love this.Pallex has given us a way to raise our kids with a giving heart.”‎ ‎41.A.Trapped B.Surrounded C.Prevented D.Occupied ‎42.A.tasted B.planted C.wrapped D.collected ‎43.A.advice B.produce C.cost D.equipment ‎44.A.bank B.market C.shop D.room ‎45.A.crop B.fruit C.harvest D.grain ‎46.A.donated B.sold C.found D.stored ‎47.A.neighbours B.employees C.volunteers D.tourists ‎48.A.delivered B.stored C.bought D.tended ‎49.A.refuses B.welcomes C.chooses D.pushes ‎50.A.cloudless B.snowy C.foggy D.rainy ‎51.A.compared B.combined C.filled D.armed ‎52.A.cooked B.counted C.positioned D.pulled ‎53.A.laughed B.complained C.worked D.competed ‎54.A.program B.example C.lesson D.thought ‎55.A.at war B.in anger C.on business D.in need ‎56.A.farmers B.workers C.leaders D.owners ‎57.A.force B.encourage C.beg D.wait ‎58.A.locked B.moved C.involved D.turned ‎59.A.grow B.relax C.settle D.help ‎60.A.unpaid B.unexpected C.unseen D.unknown 第Ⅱ卷 第三部分 英语知识运用(共两节,满分45分)‎ 第二节(共10小题;每小题1.5分,满分15分)‎ 阅读下面材料,在空白处填入适当的内容(1个单词)或括号内单词的正确形式。‎ In the United States, teenagers can get their driver's license when they are only 16 years old.Getting a driver's license_61_(take)a lot of time and energy, but it's worth_62_because it means having a lot more freedom.I'm from the rural state of Iowa that doesn't have a lot of public_63_(transport),and everything is really spread(分散)out.‎ There_64_(be) several steps before I got that special plastic card.In Iowa, everyone can get their learner's permit at the age of 14,_65_means you can only drive if your parent is sitting m the seat next_66_you.‎ The next step was getting my school permit at the age of 15.In the state of Iowa,_67_you live more than a mile away from school you can get a school permit. But ‎ you can only drive to school and back home.If you were caught _68_(go) outside that route you would get in trouble.‎ Finally,after_69_(take) a three-month-long driver's education course and the final test.I was able to get my driver's license, and it did in fact make life quite a bit_70_(easy).‎ 第四部分 写作(共两节,满分35分)‎ 第一节 短文改错(共10小题,每小题1分,满分10分)‎ 假定英语课上老师要求同桌之间交换修改作文,请你修改你同桌写的以下短文。 ‎ There are many problems when I am abroad lonely, especially when I am in the Czech Republic, its official is not English. So the first big problem is language. Many Czech people don't speak English. So I have to learn the Czech. It’s very challenging although there are seven cases for grammar. In the beginning,I can’t understand the rules at all.But little by little,I remembered it and learned how to speak Czech proper. The second problem is making friend. At school,I was often ignoring, while many of my classmates gathered together and chatted each other.
