It was the late-night experience that gave Robert Ilijason the idea to open Sweden’s first unstaffed convenience store.‎ ‎    Now Robert Ilijason runs a 24-hour shop with no cashier. Customers use their cell phones to unlock the door and scan their purchases. All they need to do is to register for the service and download an app. They get charged for their purchases each month.‎ The shop has basics like milk, bread, sugar, canned food and other products that you expect to find in a small convenience store. But it doesn’t have tobacco or medical drugs because of the risk of theft. Alcohol cannot be sold in convenience stores in Sweden.‎ The no-service store has more advantages. Raymond Arvidsson, a friend of Ilijason’s, did his shopping in less than a minute. “No queues,” he said, smiling. “Quick in, quick out. I like.”‎ ‎    “My ambition is to spread this idea to other villages and small towns,” said Ilijason. “It is incredible that no one has thought of this before.” He hopes the savings of having no staff will help bring back small stores to the countryside.‎ ‎    But a bigger challenge has been facing some of the elderly residents in Viken. Tuve Nilsson, 75, said there were many more shops in the town when he moved here with his family in 1976. He ‎ welcomed Ilijason’s new store, saying it could be convenient for elderly people living alone. But he didn’t know how to get the hang of the technology involved.‎ ‎    Ilijason is considering other ways to unlock the door that wouldn’t require using an app. He’s ruled out face-recognition or fingerprint scanners, but is thinking of installing a credit card reader like some banks use. He’s also considering having one person man the store for a few hours a day to help customers who aren’t comfortable with modern technology.‎ ‎21. Robert Ilijason’s late-night experience is mentioned to tell us ____________.‎ A. how to open the unstaffed food shop ‎ B. why he opened the unstaffed food shop C. how to look after the hungry children D. an open grocery store is very important ‎22. What can we know about Robert Ilijason’s first unstaffed food shop?‎ A. What customers need is a phone ‎ B. Customers can purchase goods in cash C. It charges customers for nothing.‎ D. Customers can buy whatever they want.‎ ‎23. From what Raymond Arvidsson said, we learn the shop is well known for______________ .‎ A. its wonderful food B. its kind service C. its quick purchase D. its good safety ‎ ‎24. It can be inferred from the passage that_____________ .‎ A. Ilijason’s store has no disadvantages B. face-recognition will be dismissed in Ilijason’s new store ‎ C. Ilijason will not open another kind of this no-service store D. all the customers are not comfortable with modern technology B ‎ I have been teaching animal behavior at the Boulder Country Prison in Colorado for 10 years. The course is one of the most popular in the prison. Prisoners have to earn the right to attend the course and they work hard to get in.‎ ‎ One reason why the course is so popular is that many prisoners find it easier to connect with animals than with people, because animals don’t judge them. They trust animals in ways they ‎ don’t with humans.‎ ‎    Yet, they hold a misunderstanding of how animals treat one another. Many admit that their own “animal behavior” is what got them into trouble in the first place. I teach that though there is competition and aggression in the animal kingdom, there is also a lot of cooperation(合作)and sympathy.‎ ‎    Many of the students want to build healthy relationships, and they find that the class helps them. I use examples of the social behavior of group-living animals such as wolves as a model for developing and maintaining(维持)friendships among people who must work together for their own good and also for the good of the group.‎ ‎    It’s clear that science inspires the students here and it also gives them hope. I know some students have gone back into education after their being set free while others have gone to work for humane(人道)societies or contributed time and money to conservation organizations. One went on to receive a master’s degree in nature writing.‎ ‎    Science and humane education help the prisoners connect with values that they otherwise would not have done. It opens the door to understanding, trust, cooperation and hope. There’s a large population of people to whom science could mean a lot, if only they could have access to it. The class helps me, too. I get as much out of it as the students and it has made me a better teacher.‎ ‎25. The author’s course is welcomed by the prisoners because ______.‎ A. they feel it easier to get along with animals ‎ B. they are curious about animal kingdom C. they consider animals their best friends D. they are more familiar with animal behavior ‎26. The author used wolves as an example to ______.‎ A. provide the prisoners with more knowledge B. help the prisoners realize the importance of teamwork ‎ C. explain the cruel side of group-living animals D. inform the prisoners that animals get people into trouble ‎27. We can infer from the text that some prisoners ______.‎ A. are willing to learn working skills ‎ B. are required to attend the course C. have turned over a new leaf D. prefer humane education to science C ‎ Recently Lonely Planet makes up the ten Asian tourist attractions, Shanghai also in the list of magic area.‎ ‎1. After a long, exhausting work week, sometimes all you want to do is sleep. On Friday night, you slide under the covers, smiling in anticipation. Now you can finally catch up on your sleep. ‎ Except you can’t. When you open your eyes Saturday morning, it’s still early. If this were a weekday, you’d be up before y our alarm. So what’s the deal?‎ We hate to break it to you, but you’ve pretty much done this to yourself. Your body is very good at recognizing patterns and adjusting accordingly. If you’ve got a 9-to-5 job, you’re getting up early five days a week. This effectively sets your body clock to wake you at a certain time each day. You can shut off your alarm clock, but your body clock will just keep ticking.‎ There’s another reason that you probably don’t want to think about: You’re just not as young as you used to be. We need less sleep as we get older. Babies need between 16 and 20 hours. Teenagers should (but often don’t) get nine hours a night. Younger and middle-aged adults need eight. In general, the older you get, the harder it is to snooze the day away.‎ Even if you do manage to sleep in, you may never fully catch up on your sleep. If your body needs eight hours every night and you only get six or seven from Monday to Friday, you’d have to sleep an extra five to ten hours on Saturday to make it up. And experts say even that may not be enough.‎ The bottom line: Sleep when you can, and enjoy those extra weekend morning hours. Who doesn’t want a longer weekend?‎ ‎32. What does the underlined sentence mean in Paragraph 1?‎ A. You know that you will oversleep on Saturday morning.‎ B. Since you don’t work on Saturday, you needn’t go to sleep as usual.‎ C. You needn’t get up early on Saturday morning, so you will have a better sleep.‎ D. You know that even though you needn’t get up early on Saturday morning, you will wake as usual.‎ ‎33. What can we learn from Paragraph 3?‎ A. Once you have set your body clock, it is not easy to change it.‎ B. If you have a 9-to-5 job, you are likely to develop a flexible body clock.‎ C. The author will not break the pattern, but you will do it yourself.‎ D. If you adjust your body clock accordingly, you are healthy.‎ ‎34. Which of the following is the reason why you can’t sleep in on weekends?‎ A. You are not willing to admit that you are old.‎ B. You need to relax on the weekend.‎ C. You can never get enough sleep.‎ D. Your body clock still works on weekends.‎ ‎35. Which is the best title of the passage?‎ A. Why can’t I catch up on my sleep?‎ B. Why can't I sleep in on weekends anymore?‎ C. How to turn off my body clock on Saturdays?‎ D. How to get more sleep on Saturday mornings?‎ 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ ‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ ‎ To be more grateful in life means that you are also allowing yourself to be happier, more contented and more satisfied with everything that has been going on around you.
