Tuition fees(学费) in the UK have now reached £ 9,250 a year and students also face some of the highest living costs in the world. Fortunately there are a number of countries where universities offer degree programmes entirely in English, along with the chance to learn the local language while you live there. Nearly all Dutch people speak English f making it an easy country to get by in.‎ Tianjin University Moving to China is not for the faint hearted. Undergraduate degree courses at Tianjin last ‎ four years, but the total cost, at £ 28,800, is still around half the cost of a three-year degree in Britain. Living costs are only around £ 400 a month and tuition fees are £ 2,300 a year. Flights will cost £ 3,600 over the four years. Tianjin is one of the world’s latest cities and is only a half-hour train ride from Beijing. Three undergraduate programmes are offered in English: Chemical Engineering, Environment & Energy and Pharmaceutical Science.‎ University of Milan The University of Milan’s fees range from £ 140 to £3,650 a year. The one bachelor’s degree offered entirely in English-Political Sciences-is a three-year course. No one should listen to the negativity of others. If someone says you can’t, then prove them wrong.‎ When I first started I couldn’t do a single proper pushup and I was out of breath after walking up the basement stairs. Instead of giving up and saying it was hopeless, I decided to struggle against what the doctors had to say about my future. It wasn’t fun at first. In fact, it was extreme suffering. The first 2-3 years were spent just getting myself to the point where most healthy young men would merely start from. It was only after years of hard work and patience that I began gaining a considerable amount of muscle and strength.‎ When I finally got to the point of feeling good about myself and my body for the first time in my life, my body decided to give me the finger once again. I developed severe ulcerative colitis (溃疡性结肠炎) and lost it all. The child who once was extremely overweight was now the man who looked like a cancer survivor. I went from 210 pounds fairly fit to 160 pounds of skin and bone within 2-3 months.‎ Once again, I worked my way back up to where I once was and run more and more for greater distances and longer periods. Now t at 205 pounds and nearing middle aged, I am the fittest I have ever been in my life.‎ I am not sharing this story in order to talk big. I am only hoping that my story will encourage someone who is struggling like I was to step up and take their life and their health into their hands. Never give up! If I can do it, then anyone can.‎ ‎24. What did the author decide to do according to paragraph 1?‎ A. Be a professional athlete. B. Follow the doctors’ advice.‎ C. Set the doctors’ advice aside. D. To introduce a new way of improving health.‎ C On a cold January morning in 2017, four-year-old Eli stands on the bank of Douglas River, hugging a dead salmon(鲑鱼) against his thick red coat. He looks up at his father, Andrew, who nods encouragingly. “Go ahead,” he says. “Put it in.” The young boy drags his feet forward and holds the fish as far as he can into the shallow water. “It’s floating!” Eli yells, delighted. For a moment, it’s almost as if the handsome salmon could come back to life.‎ Eli’s salmon is just one of 100 or so death bodies that will land in Douglas River in a half-hour activity this morning, deposited by dozens of volunteers. None of the salmon will rise from the dead, but Darrell Wick, president of the Douglas Society, who has promoted this gathering, is in the resurrection(复活) business.‎ Wick also leads the group’s campaign to recover this urban waterway’s salmon population. “The Douglas Society started looking into the possibility of recovering the salmon in the river in the mid-1990s, and part of a thought in that Lime focused on river recovery in cities worldwide. Back then, the prospects (前景) looked future lefts from the result.‎ Wick and his group are devoted to giving the river a full make-over. This monumental repair job, supported by approximately $95,000 of funding from the Pacific Salmon Foundation over the past 15 years, has involved recovering the river-habitat of salmon and preventing it from wearing away. Broadcom MASTERS has been very important in encouraging me to pursue(探求) STEM-Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. STEM is the main source of knowledge for even1 field in the world. You can find science in every activity you do and it does not have to be a complicated subject at school. This is what first interested me in it. It changed the way I saw the world.‎ When I was presenting my project at State of Texas Science Fair 2017, I wasn’t feeling too great, and after the judges came by, I felt like I wasn’t going to win. Then I saw four families crowding around my board-I was shocked. They wanted me to present my project to them because they knew about it from the news. These parents asked me to talk to their kids and inspire them. I fell very excited because I got to present the invention that led me to what I am now to the world.‎ My current goals are to extend ranges in STEM in high school, since in middle school you are more limited. I would like to compete in the University interscholastic Team, participate in Intel ISEF, compete in the Google Science Fair again, and present better projects for science fair.‎ Instead of watching that one last plot of a TV show, go and think of how you can create something or make sense of something you’re enthusiastic about. Work hard in everything you do for every moment of your life, make that one thing into the best thing, and improve your planning of the project.‎ ‎32. According to the well-known saying, talking to yourself is the first sign of madness, 36 Talking to ourselves, whether out loud or silently in our heads, is a valuable tool for thought.‎ Far from being mentally ill, self-talk allows us to plan what we are going to do, manage our activities, regulate our emotions and even create a description of our experience. 37 ‎ As children, according to the Russian psychologist Lev Vygotsky, we use private speech to regulate our actions in the same way that we use public speech to control the behavior of others. 38 Psychological experiments have shown that the private speech can improve our performance on tasks ranging from judging what other people are thinking to sorting images into categories.‎ ‎ One recent study suggested that self-talk is most effective when we address ourselves in the second person, as “you” rather than “I”.‎ ‎ 39 If you want proof, turn on the sports channel. You’re certain to see an athlete or two cheering themselves up with a bitter phrase or scolding themselves after a bad shot.‎ Conduct a dialogue with ourselves. 40 The private speech seems to be a particularly good way of solving problems and working through ideas.
