2019届二轮复习阅读理解专题训练:细节理解之事实认定型 一 Travelling to Europe to see its famous monuments like the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Colosseum(古罗马竞技场)in Rome,is not exactly the ideal vacation for kids.Fortunately, Europe has more to offer than lots of old churches and ancient history. You can enjoy some fun with your kids in the sun at some of the famous beaches of the continent. Mykonos,Greece The closer you get to the equator, the longer the beach season is,and Greece is wonderful for that. You can enjoy beautiful green water, public chairs and lovely umbrellas at the beaches in Mykonos. Dubrovnik,Croatia There's nothing more attractive than the beautiful beaches bordering Dubrovnik, Croatia's most beautiful city. It's surrounded by stone walls like a castle. It almost makes you feel like you're suntanning(晒黑皮肤)at Hogwarts, where the hero Harry Potter of the story is trained! Sicily,Italy Rabbit Beach on the island of Sicily offers shallow and crystal clear waters, making it a perfect beach for families with young children. And if you want to add interest to your experience, try snorkeling(徒手潜水). Nice,France Lined with palm trees and firstclass hotels, the city of Nice, located on the French Riviera, offers a whole coastline of Mediterranean beaches.Because they're in the heart of the city, these beaches attract a large crowd. So if you're looking for something more private, you'll have to travel a few miles outside of the city center. Ribadeo,Spain At low tide,Playa de las Catedrales in Ribadeo,Spain is the perfect beach to take in the natural wonders without urban amusements like restaurants, bars or huge crowds. It boasts beautiful wild flowers and unique rock formations making it truly a picture worthy. 【语篇解读】 本文主要介绍了几个适合孩子去度假的欧洲旅游胜地。 1.What makes Dubrovnik so special? These bruises were the result of“cupping(拔火罐)therapy”,a traditional Chinese medical practice that has been around for more than 2,000 years. Many athletes say that they have benefited from the therapy.Phelps used the therapy in the fall of 2014 and has used it about twice a week, reported ABC News. Another US swimmer,Dana Vollmer, also believes that“it really helps with blood flow”. However, some have said that the supposed health effects result from people's feeling that the treatment works, rather than any physical effect of the treatment. To figure out whether cupping therapy has any physical effect, last year researchers from Germany carried out a test in which a false treatment was provided. In the study, the same type of cups was used in the real treatment and the false treatment. But in the false treatment, the cups had a hole at the top so that they couldn't create the proper suction(吸力). The tested patients, who suffered from a disorder that caused a lot of pain, were told that they would receive either a traditional cupping or“soft cupping”.But they were not informed that the socalled“soft cupping” was a false treatment. It turned out that most patients correctly guessed which kind of cupping they had received. In both groups, patients also experienced about the same reductions in pain.“The results suggest the effects of cupping therapy might come from factors that are not necessarily part of the treatment itself,”the researchers told the Live Science website. The question of whether cupping therapy works still needs to be answered.“But because the treatment is relatively safe and it could be helpful for some people, the therapy can be used as part of a comprehensive treatment program involving other exercises, nutritional choices and lifestyle changing,” Dr Brent Bauer, director of the US Complementary and Integrative Medicine Program at Mayo Clinic, told Live Science. 【语篇解读】 本文主要介绍了中国传统医疗方式拔火罐的实际疗效问题。 5.Why is Michael Phelps mentioned in the passage? They warn the 150minute weekly target is beyond the reach of some people — particularly older individuals. And trying to reach these goals could mean the benefits of lighter exercise are overlooked. But public health officials say current recommendations have proven benefits in lowering the risk of heart disease. There is increasing evidence that inactivity is linked to heart disease, type 2 diabetes(糖尿病)and some types of cancer.UK guidelines for adults recommend at least twoandahalf hours of moderate activity a week,in short periods of 10 minutes or more. But in two separate articles in The BMJ,experts argue the message needs to change, with greater emphasis on making inactive people move more. Prof. Philipe de Souto Barreto at the University Hospital of Toulouse, advises people who are sedentary(久坐不动的)to make small increases in their activity levels—rather than pushing to achieve current goals. He points to previous studies which show even short periods of walking or just 20 minutes of energetic activity a few times a month can reduce the risk of death, compared to people who do no exercise. In the second article,Prof. Philipe Sparkling of the Georgia Institute of Technology, says doctors should tailor their advice—particularly for older patients. He suggests using GP visits for people over 60 to discuss“realistic options” to increase activity—such as getting people to stand up and move during TV commercial breaks. Prof. Kevin Fenton at Public Health England says,“Everyone needs to be active every day—short periods of 10 or more minutes of physical activity have proven health benefits, but getting 150 minutes or more of moderate activity every week is the amount we need to positively impact on a wide range of health conditions.” This includes reducing the risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes. 【语篇解读】 本文主要讨论了人们对现行锻炼指导原则的不同看法。 9.What is the current exercise goal mentioned in the passage? Here are Bill's top four picks(with parts of his full review of each book). Business Adventures,by John Brooks Brooks' collection was published in 1969 and remains one of Gates' favorites. He reread it again this year, labeling it the best business book he has ever read. “Shortly after we met,Warren Buffett lent me this collection of business articles from The New Yorker from the 1950s and 1960s.I loved them as much as he did.Brooks' insights(洞察力)into business have aged beautifully, and they are as true today as ever.” Capital in the TwentyFirst Century,by Thomas Piketty Piketty's novel hit the shelves in August 2013 and sparked much discussion concerning income inequality throughout this year.Gates also got to sit down with Piketty himself after reading the nonfiction work to discuss the topic. “As I told him, although I have concerns about some of his secondary points and policy prescriptions,I agree with his most important conclusions:inequality is a growing problem and governments should play a role in reducing it.” How Asia Works,by Joe Studwell Studwell's work, which was published in May 2014,addresses how countries such as Japan,South Korea and China have continued to achieve high growth, and why other countries have failed to do the same. “The agriculture section of the book was particularly insightful. It provided ample food for thought for me as well as the whole Agriculture team at our foundation. And it left us thinking about whether parts of the Asian model can apply in Africa.” Making the Modern World:Materials and Dematerialization,by Vaclav Smil Smil's books are a constant favorite of the Microsoft's founder—one of his books makes Gates' list almost every year.“Making the Modern World”came out late in 2013 and explores the global use of materials, from silicon to wood and plastic. “If anyone tries to tell you we're using fewer materials, send him this book. With his usual skepticism and his love of data,Smil shows how our ability to make things with fewer materials—say, soda cans that need less aluminum—makes them cheaper, which actually encourages more production.” 【语篇解读】 本文介绍了比尔·盖茨喜欢阅读的四本关于商业和经济的书。 1.The books mentioned in the text are all about ________. Dr.Douglas feels that most people do not value themselves, but with love and selfrespect anyone can be above normality and grasp success with the family, the office,or others. We have become too reliant on intelligence, beauty, and money for our own selfesteem. The loss of esteem reduces the will and ability to set and reach goals. In a series of reading Douglas teaches how to avoid negative statements, how to change them into selffacing behavior, and how to take charge of your mental attitude. Where other motivational and selfhelp work stops with the theoretical plan for success,Douglas takes everyday examples and puts them into his books. From raising children who believe in themselves to using selfesteem to help bridge the gap in the workplace,he gives readers concrete solutions to the problems that might ruin their interpersonal relations. Selfesteem building comes from filling your thoughts with positive affirmations(肯定)and learning to react to failures with motivation instead of selfdestruction. These lessons are valuable for anyone who feels that life is even slightly out of control. People who feel they have adequate esteem can learn to use it to make their success grander, faster, and more beneficial for others.Douglas approaches this process of selfdevelopment as a means of more than creating good things for the individual but also for setting up keys for influencing good things for others. For more than thirty years,Dr.Douglas has addressed more than two million people on topics from time management to speaking effectively to raising drugfree children. He is the author of fifteen books, including How to Make a Habit of Succeeding. 【语篇解读】 本文主要讲述了自尊心强的优势,以及如何培养自尊。 5.What can we infer from Paragraph One? A.Most people behave well enough. Starting in July, the world's first passenger drone(无人机),the EHANG 184,will be available to passengers. The shuttle, released in Las Vegas in January 2016,weighs 440 pounds and can fly at heights of up to 11,500 feet. The eggshaped vehicle has room for a single passenger weighing up to 220 pounds and a small suitcase. Though the flying taxi can reach speeds of up to 100 mph,it will typically operate at about 62 mph. Passengers can ask for the flying taxi to pick them up from appointed zones using a smartphone app. Passengers strap into the seat, select a destination on the touch screen, and enjoy the flight. To ensure the passenger's safety, all flights are monitored remotely by a control room on the ground. In the unlikely event that any of the components malfunction or disconnect, the drone will make an emergency landing to ensure the customer's safety. It's also programmed to ensure its route won't affect that of another drone. While having no control over the remotely piloted vehicle may appear scary, the producer,Chinabased EHANG,says,“It is the safest, smartest and ecofriendly low altitude autonomous flying vehicle.”Any drawback? The EHANG 184 has a battery life of 30 minutes and a flight range of just 31 miles. Also unknown is the cost of each ride. Though the flying taxi seems advanced,it is not the first driverless transportation option available to Dubai's residents. As part of its goal to have 25%of the public transportation automated by 2030,the authorities have built the world's longest driverless metro and introduced selfnavigating shuttles. Officials recently also partnered with a US company to build supersonic speed pods to carry passengers between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. 【语篇解读】 本文是一篇科普说明文。介绍了一种迪拜正准备投入使用的无人驾驶低空飞行器——EHANG 184。 9.What can we learn about the flying taxi? What you'll need: *One egg *Water *Salt *A tall drinking glass Instructions: Pour water into the glass until it is about half full. Mix in lots of salt(about 6 tablespoons). Carefully pour in plain water until the glass is nearly full(be careful not to mix the salt water with the plain water). Gently lower the egg into the water and watch what happens. What's happening? Salt water is denser than ordinary tap water. The denser the liquid is,the easier it is for an object to float in it. When you lower the egg into the liquid it drops through the normal tap water until it reaches the salt water, and at this point the water is dense enough for the egg to float. If you were careful when you added the tap water to the salt water, they would not mix, enabling the egg to amazingly float in the middle of the glass. 【语篇解读】 本文主要介绍了鸡蛋放入盐水中的实验过程。 【长难句解读】 If you were careful when you added the tap water to the salt water, they would not mix, enabling the egg to amazingly float in the middle of the glass. [分析] 本句是一个复合句。If引导条件状语从句;when引导时间状语从句;enabling the egg to amazingly float in the middle of the glass是现在分词短语作结果状语。 [译文] 如果你把自来水加到盐水里时比较小心的话,它们就不会混在一起,这样会让鸡蛋在玻璃杯的中间奇迹般地漂浮起来。 1.Which of the following is the CORRECT order? ①Mix in lots of salt. ②Gently lower the egg into the water. ③Carefully pour in plain water until the glass is nearly full. ④Pour water into the glass until it is about half full. A.It will float in the water. B.It will sink to the bottom. C.Nothing will happen. D.The result is not known. A [考查推理判断。根据第四部分中的“The denser the liquid is,the easier it is for an object to float in it.”和最后一句“If you were careful when you added the tap water to the salt water, they would not mix, enabling the egg to amazingly float in the middle of the glass.”可推知,鸡蛋放入盐水里会浮起来。] 3.Why can the egg float in the water according to the passage? A.Because ordinary tap water is denser than salt water. B.Because ordinary tap water is as dense as salt water. C.Because the denser the liquid is,the easier it is for an object to float in it. D.Because the more the liquid there is,the easier it is for an object to float in it. C [考查细节理解。根据最后一部分中的“Salt water is denser than ordinary tap water. The denser the liquid is,the easier it is for an object to float in it.”可知,液体的密度越大,物体越容易漂浮,而鸡蛋能够在盐水中浮起来是因为盐水的密度大,故选C。] 八 Goodreads recommends the following books you want to read for the event to come. 1.The Lyrics:19612012 By Bob Dylan Simon&Schuster,$60 What it's about:This heavy, welltimed publication contains lyrics by the songwriter who just won the Nobel Prize in Literature, from his first album,Bob Dylan, through Tempest. But the improvements have not been enough to see an obvious increase in the market share for local car companies this year, raising questions about their ability to be global competitors. The annual quality survey of China's car market by J.D. Power,a Californian market research company, tracks the number of mechanical and design problems reported per 100 vehicles by more than 21,000 Chinese drivers. It documented 131 problems per 100 domestic(国内的)vehicles, compared with 95 per 100 foreign vehicles. The 36point gap was the narrowest in the study's sevenyear history. When China overtook the US as the world's largest car maker in 2009,the gap between domestic and foreign cars was 145 points.“It's evidence to the improvements that domestic brands have been making,”said Geoff Broderick, head of J.D.Power's operations,“By 2018 the domestic and the global brands will be equal in terms of quality.” Despite the steady improvement in quality, local vehicle makers have been performing poorly this year.According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, domestic brands' share of the market for cars—not including SUVs—has fallen from about 25 percent to 20 percent. “Chinese customers are very picky in the world because they have been trained to distrust products,” said Mr.Broderick, citing scandals(丑闻)affecting baby milk powder and toys.“They go into a situation expecting there could be quality issues, whereas in the West we trust the brands.” 【语篇解读】 调查显示,中国制造的汽车质量大幅度提高,但是市场份额却下降了。 8.What was the gap between Chinese vehicles and foreign vehicles in 2016?
