He said people who sat for long periods were at great risk of diseases when compared with those who sat less. He said that was especially true for some chronic (慢性的) diseases.‎ Richard Rosenkranz studied the relationship between sitting and chronic diseases ‎ in middle-aged Australian men. He worked with researchers from the University‎ of ‎Western Sydney. They examined the health records of more than 63,000 men from New South Wales. The men were between the ages of 45 and 65. The men reported about what diseases they had, or did not have. And they kept record of the amount of time each day that they sat.‎ ‎ The study also showed that exercising every morning for 30 minutes did not reduce the health risk if you spend the next eight hours sitting at the desk. Mr. Rosenkranz said it was important to make sure you exercise. But he said it was also important to find ways not to sit so much during the day.‎ Many jobs today require sitting and working at the desk all day. James Levine works at the Mayo Clinic in the United Sates. He suggests working while standing at high table some of the time instead of sitting at a desk. But the only thing that wasn’t very fun about it was that he could catch many fish while I couldn’t catch anything. I usually got pretty upset and kept asking him why. He always answered, “Son, if you want to catch a fish, you have to think like a fish.” I remember being even more upset then because, “I’m not a fish!” I didn’t know how to think like a fish. Besides, I reasoned, how could what I think influence what a fish does?‎ As I got a little older I began to understand what my dad really meant. So, I read some books on fish. And I even joined the local fishing club and started attending the monthly meetings. I learned that a fish is a cold-blooded animal and therefore is very sensitive to water temperature. That is why fish prefer shallow water to deep water because the former is warmer. Besides, water is usually warmer in direct sunlight than in the shade. Yet, fish don’t have any eyelids (眼皮) and the sun hurts their eyes. The more I understood fish, the more I became effective at finding and catching them. ‎ When I grew up and entered the business world, I remember hearing my first boss say, “We all need to think like sales people. ” But it didn’t completely make sense. ‎ My dad never once said, “If you want to catch a fish you need to think like a fisherman.” What he said was, “You need to think like a fish.” Years later, with great efforts to promote long-term services to people much older and richer than me, I gradually learned what we all need is to think more like customers. It is not an easy job. I will show you how in the following chapters(章节). ‎ ‎12. Why was the author upset in fishing trips when he was nine? ‎ A. He could not catch a fish. B. His father was not patient with him. ‎ C. His father did not teach him fishing. D. He could not influence a fish as his father did. ‎ ‎13. According to the author, fish are most likely to be found _ . ‎ A. in deep water on sunny days B. in deep water on cloudy days C. in shallow water under sunlight D. in shallow water under waterside trees ‎14. After entering the business world, the author found . ‎ A. it easy to think like a customer B. his first boss’s sales ideas reasonable C. his father’s fishing advice inspiring D. it difficult to sell services to poor people ‎15. This passage most likely comes from . ‎ A. a book about sales B.a fishing guide ‎ C. a novel on childhood D. a millionaire’s story ‎ 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ ‎ Some Ways to Deal With Hardships and Pain in Life Regardless of(不管) the difficulties you may face, it’s getting support and moving ‎ forward that counts (重要) the most when you need to deal with hardships. 16 Write or talk about how you feel Keeping my feelings to myself used to make me feel lonely, but when I found someone who actually cared about me, it became natural to share how I felt with him and that contributed to (带来) my ability to overcome troublesome situation. 17 ‎ ‎. Although talking to strangers about your problems may seem crazy, it actually isn't.‎ ‎ 18 ‎ It is said that running away from your problems will never help, and though that is partially(部分地) true, it doesn’t mean that you need to go so deeply in a situation that you run out of air to breathe and lose the ability to make your choices. It is why it’s important to separate yourself from a situation long enough to think clearly. Remind yourself that you are not alone Regardless of who or what you depend on, you need to remind yourself that you are not alone; you have people who do care. 19 Sometimes it’s strangers who may share the same feeling as you do. Think about it----you may not know any readers personally but they could be in the exact same situation as you, so in fact, no one is truly alone. Accept the results and get support again 20 Whether the results of your choices proved to be helpful or not, it’s time for you to accept them and get support. This time you have a new experience to add to your book of life so the next time something tries to knock you down, it won’t be easy because you will be strong and determined to push forward. A. Tell yourself to accept the hardship. B. Finally, it’s time to accept what has happened. C. Here are some things I’ve tried just to help me believe in a brighter future and get over a tough situation. D. Separate yourself from the situation. E. All in all, remember that life is short. F. Not only did I speak to him about how I felt, but I decided to blog about it. G. Even if it’s just one person, that’s enough to give you reasons to remind yourself that you will never truly be alone. ‎ ‎ It's amazing how one dollar can change the culture of a school.‎ We have a 21 school of about 30 students.
