Whatever your hands touch, your phones touch. It has been discovered that some phones have 18 times more bacteria and viruses than any surface in a public restroom. So it probably won’t surprise you that a 2011 University‎ of ‎London study found that one in six of our phones have bacteria and viruses on them—specifically, the bacteria called E. coli.‎ The research on bacteria and viruses led to the invention of PhoneSoap. It is not actually liquid like dishwasher soap. It is a phone charger that uses the electromagnetic radiation (辐射) used in ‎ hospitals to kill 99.9 percent of bacteria and viruses, cleaning your phone while it charges.‎ ‎“There are really certain types of bacteria and viruses that we should not be in touch with, and they are really on our phones,” says Wes Barnes, the PhoneSoap co-founder. It all started while his cousin and co-founder, Dan LaPorte, was in his cancer research lab at college. “He realized he got the idea of getting rid of bacteria and viruses on the phones,” said Barnes. “In the lab they used UV-C light for destroying them. He realized this would be the fastest, most powerful way to kill any bacteria and viruses living on electronic machines.”‎ PhoneSoap looks like a little metal suitcase. Your phone rests in to charge and get cleaned at the same time. Instead of plugging your phone into the wall, you’d plug it into the PhoneSoap charger box. The process only takes a few minutes but, Barnes says, “The idea is that you can leave it in there overnight if you want to keep charging. Reflective paint keeps the light completely around the phone so it cleans the phone fully.”‎ The co-founders spent 2013 finding the right companies and they started shipping the product in late November. By last week’s International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, PhoneSoap was all grown-up. Both co-founders have left their previous jobs and are selling PhoneSoap nonstop. “We’re shipping almost more than we can handle each day,” Barnes says. “It’s been a great adventure.” ‎ ‎4. We can learn from the first paragraph that ______.‎ A. phones can be very dirty B. phones are where bacteria are born C. most phones are attacked by bacteria D. phones store more bacteria in a restroom ‎5. According to the passage, PhoneSoap ______.‎ A. takes a whole night to kill bacteria B. deals with bacteria with radiation C. is a kind of liquid like dishwasher soap D. has to be plugged into the wall to work ‎6. From what Barnes said in the last paragraph, we can infer that ______.‎ A. PhoneSoap is in great demand now B. PhoneSoap is really hard to handle C. they can’t produce enough PhoneSoap D. they’ll make improvements to PhoneSoap ‎7. What’s the passage mainly about?‎ A. Methods of cleaning phones.‎ B. Tips on charging phones quickly.‎ C. Soap killing harmful bacteria on phones.‎ D. A phone charger keeping your phone clean.‎ C What is your favorite color? Do you like yellow, orange, red? If you do, you must be an optimist, a leader, an active person who enjoys life, people and excitement. Do you prefer graysand blues? Then you are probably quiet, shy and you would rather follow than lead. If you love green, you are strong-minded and determined. You wish to succeed and want other people to see you are successful. At least this is what psychologists tell us, and they should know, because they have been seriously studying the meaning of color preference, and the effect that colors have on human beings. They tell us that we don’t choose our favorite color as we grow up. If you happen to love brown, you did so as soon as you opened your eyes, or at least as soon as you could see clearly.‎ A yellow room makes us feel more cheerful and comfortable than a dark green one, and a red dress rings warmth and cheer to the saddest winter day. On the other hand, black is depressing. Light and bright colors make people not only happier but also more active. It is a fact that factory workers work better, harder, and have fewer accidents when their machines are painted orange rather than black or dark grey .‎ ‎ Remember, then, that if you feel low, you can always brighten your day or your life with a new shirt or a few colorful things. Remember also that you will know your friends and your enemies better when you find out what colors they like and dislike. And don’t forget that anyone can guess a lot about your character when you choose a piece of handkerchief.‎ ‎8. According to this passage, _______________.‎ A. one can choose his color preference B. one is born with his color preference C. one’s color preference is changeable D. one has to choose his favorite color as soon as he can see clearly ‎9. If someone choose a red handkerchief, he will probably do the following things EXCEPT___.‎ A.Becoming a leader.‎ B.Joining the Student Union.‎ C.Always complain and blame others.‎ D.Getting along well with others ‎ ‎10. “I am feeling black” means ____________.‎ A. I am feeling well B. I am very happy C. I am excited D. I am depressed ‎11. The main idea of this passage is _____________.‎ A. one’s color preference shows one’s character B. you can brighten your life with wonderful colors C. psychologists have been studying the meaning of color preference D. one’s color preference has something to do with his character and colors have effects on ‎ human beings D Researchers at the University‎ of ‎Chicago have trained an artificial intelligence system, to write fake reviews on Yelp, a website showing customers reviews on shopping or something else, and it's pretty hard to tell them apart from a human review.‎ Their study, which will be presented at the ACM Conference on Computer and Communications Security in October, aimed to throw attention onto how easily these systems can write reviews like humans and how damaging they can become if they’re not monitored properly.‎ Since many small businesses rely on online reviews to help grow and keep their reputation, a future where someone—like a rival or angry customer—could crazily fill their page with negative reviews written by a machine is pretty worrying.‎ And, according to the research team, the threat goes far beyond a bunch of fake reviews on Yelp. “In general the threat is bigger,” Ben Y. Zhao. one of the authors of the study, said. “I think the threat towards society is large and it really misleads users and shakes our belief in what is real and what is not. I think that' s going to be even unimaginable.”‎ To test how believable these reviews came across, the researchers invited 40 volunteers and had AI generate five fake reviews for 40 actual restaurants. The volunteers were asked how useful they thought the review was and whether or not they thought it was fake. The AI reviews ranked as “effectively indistinguishable” from real reviews, according to the study. Further, the fake reviews were given a 3.15 "usefulness" rating, compared to a 3.28 rating for human reviews.‎ ‎12. What can the new artificial intelligence system do according to the passage?‎ A. It can help train new reviewers.‎ B. It can tell the real reviews from the fake ones.‎ C. It can write human-like reviews.‎ D. It can easily damage the businesses.‎ ‎13. What does the underlined word "rival'' mean in the passage?‎ A. A person who respects you deeply.‎ B. A person who competes with you.‎ C. A person who loves to give fake reviews.‎ D. A person who can control you from distance.‎ ‎14. What can we infer from Ben Y. Zhao's remarks?‎ A. Artificial intelligence can put the society in danger.‎ B. The artificial intelligence is only used by the researchers C. Ben Y. Zhao is optimistic about the further development of artificial intelligence.‎ D. The artificial intelligence will help people shake.‎ ‎15. What is the best title for the passage?‎ A. Tips Suggestions on Giving Reviews.‎ B. How to Tell the Fake Reviews.‎ C. Development of AI in Review on Yelp.‎ D. AI is Coming to Steal Your Reviews.‎ 第二节 七选五(共5小题,每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出正确答案。选项中有两项为多余选项 Much meaning can be expressed clearly with our eyes, so it is often said that eyes can speak.‎ ‎ 16 .
