B Billboard Music Awards of the Year 2015 goes to Taylor Swift, a singer-songwriter, who has shaped and inspired the American music industry with her success. When Taylor Swift first came to public notice, she was a 17-year-old newcomer who loved singing to her own guitar. She was far more enthusiastic than skilled, but apparently threw spark of superb talent. Four years later, Swift has become a multi-awards winner, with the biggest selling albums. For her consummate performance, Taylor Swift was named Billboard magazine’s woman in 2011. She is the youngest artist to receive honors and several Billboard Music Awards, among them Top Country Album for the five-time platinum (白金) selling Speak Now, her third album that was released that year. “Taylor has shown the power of good songwriting with music of styles.” said Bill Werde, Billboard’s editorial director, “And at such a young age, Taylor has already made a major impact on music and has been an unbelievable role model for promising artists and young woman everywhere.” Swift is used to breaking chart records and winning honors since her career started. She followed that up in 2008 with Fearless, which established her as a skilled songwriter with several hits, including Love Story, You Belong With Me and White Horse. Not surprisingly, the 6-time platinum Fearless is the most awarded album in country music history in the US and her overall worldwide sales now reach 20 million albums and 40 million songs downloads. Swift has spent the past year on the Speak NOW World Tour in support of her third album, and now she’s getting ready to go further. According to a recent interview with The New Yorker magazine, Swift has so far written about 10 songs for a 2016 album. She said the new album is about feelings of growing up and becoming an adult. “They’re sad if I'm being honest.” Swift told The New Yorker. “They’re about my heartbreaks and my moving on. But more importantly, they are about achieving contentment. You’re not always going to be ridiculously happy as you grow up. ” 24. As a newcomer in the show business, Taylor Swift was considered to be_______. A. a skilled songwriter B. an outstanding artist C. an energetic director D. a promising talent 25. The underlined word “consummate” in Paragraph 3 can best be replaced by______. A. confident B. professional C. excellent D. different 26.What can we learn from the passage? A. Speak Now is Taylor Swift’s third album. B. Fearless marked the beginning of Swift’s career. C. Swift’s new album is about feelings of grown-ups. D. Swift has gained Billboard magazine’s woman twice. 27. Which of the following can be the best title of the passage? A. A Rising Music Genius B. Taylor’s Heartbreaks in Growth C. An Interview with Taylor Swift D. Billboard Music Awards in America C You may have heard adults say they are uncomfortable in the morning without a cup of coffee. One reason they may feel that way is that coffee contains caffeine(咖啡因). Caffeine occurs naturally in coffee, tea, and cocoa beans, which are used to make chocolate. But now food makers are adding it to many products, from potato chips to water. The US government is especially worried about the problem. That’s why the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is studying the health effects of caffeine on young people. Studies show that too much caffeine can make people nervous and unable to sleep. What’s more, caffeine is habit-forming. Those who consume it regularly and stop suddenly may experience headaches and feel tired. One of the biggest concerns is the large amount of caffeine added to so-called energy drinks, like Red Bull. A 12-ounce can of cola has about 35 milligrams of caffeine. A similar serving of Red Bull contains more than three times that amount. The Institute of Medicine is also working on caffeine-safety measures. “Teenagers should not drink beverages that contain caffeine. They should be aware of caffeine’s effects on health and on how the brain works. Take, for example, teenagers who consume caffeine to stay awake and study for a test. They will remember less of what they just studied,” said Stallings, a member of the institute. Companies that make products with added caffeine claim they do not advertise them to kids. However, there is no law to stop children from buying them. So the FDA needs to set limits on caffeine, especially in energy drinks. As for added caffeine in foods, the government should just say no. If not, the amount of caffeine should be printed on food labels to remind consumers. The government must do that. Doctors say kids should avoid caffeine. If you need extra energy, try these natural boosters: eat right, exercise, and get plenty of sleep. 28. What is the US government particularly concerned about? A. The fact that coffee contains caffeine. B. The practice of adding caffeine to foods. C. The measures of avoiding caffeine’s effects. D. The practice of using caffeine to make chocolate. 29. Red Bull is listed in the third paragraph as an example of _____. A. caffeine’s effects on health B. teenagers’ addiction to caffeine C. drinks which contain much caffeine D. people’s concern about teenagers’ health 30. Paragraph 5 is mainly about _____. A. the measures of protecting teenagers from caffeine’s effects B. the process of the government’s controlling the use of caffeine C. the government’s responsibility of taking care of teenagers D. the risk of buying products containing caffeine nowadays 31. The author may agree that _______. A. headaches and feeling tired are common in teenagers B. food makers don’t add much caffeine to many products now C. caffeine is good and useful for teenagers’ study D. getting enough sleep can make people energetic D Texting(发短信)walkers aren't just an annoyance to other walkers, Australian researchers armed with movie special-effects technology have determined scientifically that they're threats to themselves. Using motion-capture technology similar to that used for films, researchers concluded that texting while walking not only affects balance but also the ability to walk in straight line. “Some people like checking emails while walking to work in the morning” said the study co-author Hoorn, “but they may not know it has a serious effect on the safety of themselves”. Other facts have also proved this. A tourist from Taiwan walked off a pier near Melbourne last month while checking Facebook, bringing a sudden and icy end to a penguin-watching visit. Another person who was too wrapped up in his phone to notice dangers walked straight into the fountain in front of a shopping mall. The Australian study involved 27 volunteers, a third of whom admitted having knocked into objects while texting. They were asked to walk 8.5 meters three times—once without phones, once while reading text and once while writing text, when eight cameras recorded their actions. They found the volunteers using the phone walked slower, and, more seriously, they locked their arms and elbows in like “robots”, which forced their heads to move more, throwing themselves off balance. “In a pedestrian(步行的)environment, inability to maintain a straight path would be likely to increase potential for traffic accidents”, said Mr. Hoorn. “The best thing to do is to step aside and stop, or keep off the phone.” Authorities world-wide have taken note. Signs on Hong Kong's subway system advise passengers in three languages to keep their eyes off their phones. Police and transport authorities have highlighted the danger in Singapore, where the Straits Times newspaper recently declared cellphone-distracted road crossing as “bad habit No. 2” contributing to the rising number of road deaths. Some U.S. states, including New York and Arkansas, are considering bans on what they're calling phone jaywalking. 32. According to the passage, people texting while walking usually____________. A. do not influence other walkers B. do harm to their eyes C. put themselves in danger D. can still walk straight 33. Which of the following words has the closest meaning to “wrapped up” in Paragraph 2? A. absent-minded B. annoyed C. confused D. absorbed 34. About the Australian study, we know that___________. A. the volunteers using phones while walking moved normally B. ten volunteers admitted having bumped into things while texting C. the volunteers were divided into three groups during the study D. texting walkers are exposed to greater possibility of traffic accidents 35. The last paragraph suggests that_________. A. actions have been taken against texting while walking B. Hong Kong’s subway system forbids texting walkers to take the train C. New York has made laws to ban phone jaywalking D. cellphone-distracted road crossing is considered the worst habit in Singapore 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 We all see and hear about extraordinary people around us and wonder why we can’t be more like them? Learn to back up your decisions with reason. Use logic to explain things, not authority. By doing this your decisions might invite criticism, but you will also get an opportunity to improve. ●They are generous with compliments(恭维). Remember the time, when you worked really hard but got nothing in return. Not even a thank-you. 37 So every chance you get to praise someone, do it. A simple, “That was some great work, keep it up,” can go a long way in making the employees feel great about themselves. 38 ●They are helpful. Never hesitate to help someone. It’s fairly simple but it goes a long way. Don’t be non-committal(不负责的)and say something vague(含糊)like, “Can I help you?” , because they might just say, “No, I’m good.” 39 “I had the same problem with this coffee machine in the morning. I think I have figured a way to make it work.” Offer in a way that feels mutually beneficial(互利). ●They’re in charge of their emotions. Sometimes it is very important to stay silent. Especially when you’re angry, you don’t want to end up saying things you didn’t really mean to. So they take their time to think back to what happened, and then come to a decision about how to deal with it. 40 Never be too casual with words or actions. A. They are sensitive to others. B. The key is to be specific. C. A compliment can have a positive impact on their lives. D. When you feel awkward receiving a compliment, give the person a smile. E. They are open to criticism. F. Text 10 W Welcome to this edition of The Stories of Super Geniuses. I’m Susan Wilbur. Today, you’re going to hear a story of a great magician. He was born on September 16, 1956 in New Jersey. He picked up magic at 8 and began performing professionally at 12. By the age of 16, he was already teaching magic at New York University. In 1977, he was chosen to host a TV show, The Magic of ABC. The show was a huge success, and made him known to the whole world. He understands his craft more than any other magician before him. He said, “Before there can be wonders, there must be wonder.” Where others think, “It can’t be done,” he always says, “Yes, it can.” With this attitude, he never stops amazing people with magic. But the greatest work he thinks he has done is Project Magic. This is a project established in March 1982 to help disabled patients. Every year, he performs over 550 shows and has created many box office records. His love for magic is everything to him. And to those who want to become great magicians, he gave this advice: “Practise, practise, practise, and never consider anything impossible.” Do you know who he is now? Call 202-983-2476 to tell us the name of this magician, and you will get a DVD of his shows. 听力理解:1-5CABBC 6-10 ACCBA 11-15 CBAAA 16-20 BBCAB 阅读理解(每小题2分,满分40分) 21—23 DCC 24—27 DCAA 28—31 BCAD 32—35 CDDA 36—40 EFCBG 完型填空(每小题1.5分,满分30分) 41-60 DACBA CCDBB DABCD ADABC 语法填空(每小题1.5分,满分15分)61. hottest 62. held 63. of 64. which 65. quickly 66. hoping 67. or 68. sufferers 69. a 70. has been received 短文改错(每小题1分,满分10分) Christmas is the festival for family members to get together.
