Filmed in about 150 locations all over New Zealand, this traveling movie shows its beauty. From the rolling hills of Matamata to the volcanic retrion of Mt Ruapehu, this is the best movie to see New Zealand. Also, this travel movie might have the only distinction of being inspired by ravel too. The director of the movie Peter Jackson first read the novel on a train going from Wellington to Auckland When he was just seventeen.‎ Indiana Jones. The Complete Adventure Collection Indicia Jones and travel are inseparable. Everyone remembers the red line on the world map that shows up on screen when he flies. The Egypt scenes in Raiders of the Lost Ark were filmed in Tunisia. Temple of doom was filmed mostly in Sri Lanka and Macau. The Last Crusade was filmed in Italy, Spain and Jordan Including an excellent view of Petra. Unlike the other, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull ,filmed almost entirely in the United States. However, their shots of Iguazu Falls are amazing.‎ Romancing the Stone and jewel of the Nile This movie series focuses on a romance writer Joan and her adventures with a soldier of fortune named Jack. In Romancing the stone Joan goes to Colombia to save her sister who was ‎ kidnapped (绑架). In the sequel Joan goes to the fictional kingdom of Kadir set somewhere in the Middle East. Romancing the stone’s scenes were shot mostly in Mexico. For Jewel of the Nile, the scenes were mostly shot in France and Morocco.‎ The Telented Mr Ripley Tom Ripley is a working class young man. Through a case of mistaken identity, he is asked to go to Italy to convince a wealthy businessman’s son to come home. This travel movie starts in New York and heads to the fictional resort of Mongibello. The last section of the movie is filmed mostly in Rome and Naples. The locations are beautiful. They also did a good job of showing Italy as it looked in the 1960s.‎ ‎21.If someone is interested in seeing views in Sri Lanka, he / she would most probably watch the film_________.‎ A.The last Crusade B.Temple of Doom C.Raiders of the lost Ark D.Kingdom of the Crystal Skull 22.From paragaph 2 we can know that the story of The Lord of the Rings_____.‎ A.caught the director’s attention while he was travelling B.was shot from Wellington to Auckland C.encouraged a 17-year-old boy to travel in New Zealand D.is the best movie made in Newland ‎23.The movie The Talented Mr. Ripley tells us a story of a man who______.‎ A.owns a large amount of fortune B.becomes wealthy by always working hard C.goes sightseeing in Rome and Naples D.contributes to helping a man out of trouble B Grown-ups are often surprised by how well they remember something they learned as children but have never practiced ever since. A man who has not had a chance to go swimming for years can still swim as well as ever when he gets back in the water. He can get on a bicycle after many years and still ride away. He can play catch and hit a ball as well as his son. A mother who has not thought about the words for years can teach her daughter the poem that begins "Twinkle, twinkle, little star" or remember the story of Cinderella or Goldilocks and the Three Bears.‎ One explanation is the law of overlearning, which can be stated as follows: Once we have learned something, additional learning trials increase the length of time we will remember it.‎ In childhood we usually continue to practice such skills as swimming, bicycle riding, and playing baseball long after we have learned them. We continue to listen to and remind ourselves of words such as "Twinkle, twinkle, little star" and childhood tales such as Cinderella and Goldilocks. We not only learn but over learn.‎ The multiplication tables(乘法口诀表) are an exception to the general rule that we forget rather quickly the things that we learn in school, because they are another of the things we overlearn in childhood.‎ The law of overlearning explains why cramming(突击学习)for an examination, though it may result in a passing grade, is not a satisfactory way to learn a college course. By cramming, a student may learn the subject well enough to get by on the examination, but he is likely soon to forget almost everything he learned. A little overlearning, on the other hand, is really necessary for one's future development. 24.What is the main idea of paragraph 1?‎ A.Poem reading is a good way to learn words.‎ B.Children have a better memory than grown-ups.‎ C.People remember well what they learned in childhood.‎ D.Stories for children are easy to remember. 25.The author explains the law of overlearning by      .‎ A.using examples B.setting down general rules C.making a comparison D.presenting research findings 26.What does the word "they" in Paragraph 4 refer to?‎ A.Commonly accepted rules. B.Things easily forgotten.‎ C.The multiplication tables. D.School subjects.‎ ‎27.What is the author's opinion on cramming?‎ A.It leads to failure in college exams. B.It increases students' learning interest.‎ C.It's possible to result in poor memory. D. It's helpful only in a limited way.‎ C Each time I see a balloon,my mind flies back to a memory when I was a six-year-old girl.It was a rainy Sunday and my father had recently died.I asked my mum if my dad had gone to heaven.“Yes,honey.‎ Of course,”she said.“Can we write him a letter?”I asked.‎ She paused, the longest pause of my short life, and answered,“Yes.”My heart jumped.“Can the mailman go there?”I asked.‎ ‎ “No,but I have an idea.”Mum drove to a party store and returned with a red balloon.I asked her what it was for.“Just wait, honey. You’ll see.”Mum told me to write my letter.Eagerly,I got my favourite pen,and poured out my six-year-old heart in the form of blue ink.I wrote about my day, what I learned at school, what Mum was doing, and even about what happened in a story I had read. For a few minutes it was as if Dad were still alive.I gave the letter to Mum.She read it over, and a smile crossed her face. She made a hole in the corner of the letter where she looped the balloon string. We went outside and she gave me the balloon. It was still raining.“Okay,on the count of three, let it go.One,two,three.”The balloon, carrying my letter, darted upwards against the rain.We watched until it was swallowed by the mass of clouds.Later I realized, like the balloon, that Dad had never let his sickness get him down.He was strong. No matter what he suffered,he’d persevere, dart up,and finally transcend this cold world and his sick body.He rose into sky and became something beautiful.I watched until the balloon disappeared into the grey and white and I prayed that his strength was passed on.I prayed to be a balloon.‎ ‎28.When the girl asked her mother if they could write to her father, her mother___.‎ A.believed it easy to do so B.felt it hard to answer C.thought her a creative girl D.found it easy to lie 29.When the girl was told that she could send a letter to her father,she_______.‎ A.jumped with joy B.was worried that it couldn’t be delivered C.became excited D.started writing immediately 30.In the eyes of the author, what was the rain like?‎ A.The hard time her father had. B.An unforgettable memory.‎ C.The failure her father experienced. D.An incurable disease. 31.What would be the best title for the passage?‎ A.An unforgettable experience B.The strong red balloon ‎ C.Fly to heaven D.A great father D If you get into the forest with your friends, stay with them always. If you don’t, you may get lost. If you really get lost, this is what you should do. Sit down and stay where you are. Don’t try to find your friends—let them find you by staying in one place.‎ There is another way to help your friends or other nearby people to find you. Give them a signal (信号) by shouting or whistling (吹口哨) three times. Any signal given three times is a call for help.‎ Keep up shouting or whistling always three times together. When people hear you, they will know that you are not just making noise for fun. They will let you know that they have heard your signal. They give you two shouts, two whistles, or two gun-shots (枪声). When someone gives you a signal, it is an answer to a call for help.‎ If you don’t think that you will get help before night comes, try to make a little house---cover up to the holes with branches (树枝) with lots of leaves. Make yourself a soft bed with leaves and grass.‎ What should you do if you get hungry or need drinking water? You would have to leave your little house to look for a river. Don’t just walk away. Pick off small branches and drop them as you walk so that you can find your way back. The most important thing to do when you are lost is—stay in one place.‎ ‎32.If you lost in the forest, you should _______.‎ A.walk around the forest and shout so that your friends could hear you B.stay where you are and give signals three times C.try to find your friends as soon as possible D.try to get out of the forest and shout for help 33.If you want to let people believe that you are not just making noise for fun, you should _______.‎ A.shout or whistle three times B.keep up shouting or whistling C.shout at the top of your voice D.tell people that you are lost 34.When you hear two shouts, or whistles, or gunshots, __________.‎ A.you should shout more loudly B.you can whistle three times C.you should try to run to them D.it is an answer to your call for help 35.When you want to leave your place to get drinking water, you should ________.‎ A.just go to the river B.find some glasses or bottles before you go C.leave marks so that you can find your way back D.make a fire so that you can have some tea 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ What is the difference between happy people and unhappy people? _____36_____ Read the following list of things that HAPPY people do differently from UNHAPPY people and you will know.‎ Well, I can tell you surely that those people who are really happy, fear less and love a lot more. The fact here is that most of the time they get both, success and meaning, just because they choose to focus on doing the things they love the most.‎ ‎____40___ They make sure that their actions bring meaning and happiness in the lives of many.
