For example, in Africa, only 40 percent of children are online. In Europe, by contrast, 88 percent are. UNICEF reports that one in three internet users around the world are children. Even though so many children are online, the organization says little is known about the effect of digital technology on child's well-being. More importantly, the report finds that little is being done to protect children from the dangers of the digital world. For example, many children around the world have a digital footprint before they can actually walk and make real footprints. Parents often post photos of their children and share stories about them. And a child’s medical records may be stored in the cloud. As children grow, they may share additional details about themselves or photos and videos of themselves. But making all this personal information public may put a child at risk.Lawrence Chandy, director of Data Research and Policy for UNICEF,explains that these risks include the misuse of children's private information, access to harmful content and cyber-bullying(网络欺凌). Besides, cyber-bullying, Lawrence Chandy says children are also at risk from online criminal networks. These criminals target children for some of the worst forms of exploitation and abuse,He says safeguarding children's privacy on the internet is an issue of major concern. "We really emphasize the importance of putting in place safeguards to prevent children's personal data from falling in the wrong peoples' hands and protecting their identities. This is an issue which is only going to grow in importance." Parents, caregivers, teachers and school administrators, businesses and policymakers need to work together to ensure safe access and protect children from the possible harm of a growing digital world. 28. What can we probably know from the UNICEF report? A. Around two-thirds of the world’s youth are often online. B. Digital technology develops faster in developing countries. C. The influence on the health of children online is mentioned. D. The number of youth online is larger than that of adults online. 29. What may be found about some children on the internet? A. Their passwords. B. Their parents’ footprints. C. Their childhood stories. D. Their academic records. 30. What can we infer from the passage? A. We don’t do much to safeguard children online. B. Children like to post their family information online. C. There’re chances for children online to break laws. D. Criminals target the parents of children online for money. 31. What is the main idea of the passage? A. Cyber-bullying causes more danger to the youth. B. The digital technology can push the world to develop. C. The digital world is mentally good but physically bad. D. Danger in children’s digital world should cause concern. D If you don’t want your damp bathroom to be perfect for microorganisms(微生物),you can just open the window and let some fresh air in.Not so easy on a space station though, as astro-biologist Petra Schwendner of the University of Edinburgh explains. It has been seen on the international space station that these microorganisms can accumulate.I’ve seen pictures where you could see this corrosion(腐蚀) caused by bacteria or basically an accumulation of fungus(真菌)behind wet towels. So as we set our sights on Mars, what might grow in the spacecraft dish during the year and a-half-long flight? The Mars 500 habitat in Moscow simulated(模拟) that trip, with six crew members inside. And Schwendner and her team tested microorganism samples of the habitat over time. They found what you might expect: a lot of human-related bacteria and fungi(真菌),mostly at levels considered safe life in space. But they also noticed a decline in microorganism diversity over time which could indicate a less-than-healthy microorganism community that’s potentially more likely to be taken over by hostile(敌意的)bacteria. The study says that seeing this decrease basically is for us an important point or proof that continuous monitoring is an important fact and is really required to basically maintain or be able to maintain a healthy environment. When we do rocket to the Red Planet,it’ll be impossible to keep our spacecraft completely clean without bacteria.Because humans are leaky animals. The real question might be how we’ll keep our many microorganisms from starting to live in Mars. 32. What will a space station be like? A. A perfect place for microorganism to live in. B. Its window can be opened to let fresh air in. C. A perfect place for microorganisms to decline. D. Its spacecraft can get affected badly by bacteria. 33. What is the author’s attitude towards the finding? A. Doubtful. B. Disapproving. C. Subjective. D. Cautious. 34. Why are three fewer different types of microorganisms in space? A. Spacemen don’t want to keep large numbers of them alive. B. More powerful microorganism eventually replace others. C. Unhealthy microorganisms disappear during rocketing. D. Some can’t survive the damp air in the space station. 35. What can be inferred according to the passage? A. It’s difficult to stop microorganisms’ existence on Mars. B. Our spacecraft failed to monitor the decrease of microorganism. C. Keeping our environment healthy is a basic task for our spacecraft. D. Our spacecraft should be required not to carry microorganisms on Mars. 第二节(共5小题;每小题 2 分,满分 10 分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Your probably start this new academic year with a resolution to study harder. 36 Recent discoveries in brain research point to better ways to learn. How does the brain save new information? Think of the last time you looked up a number in the telephone book and dialed it. 36 Probably not! That’s because it’s in your short-term memory. 36 That’s where you keep the phone number while you dial it.But if you can put the phone number into long-term memory, you’ll remember that same phone number next week. When you study, you transfer new information into long-term memory.Every time we learn something new,we build new connections to information that we already know. When there are more connections to the new information,it’s easier to find it again. 36 ● Make an effort. The brain remembers better when we are interested in the subject or know we will need the information in the future. ● Find the most important information.your brain can process only a limited amount of information at one time, so don’t try to remember every detail. ● Make the new brain connections stronger. One technique is to recite the ideas out loud in your own words. 36 By understanding how the brain works, and following these tips, you can make this your most successful academic year ever.
