He was badly crippled (跛脚),and when we would walk together, his hand on my arm for balance, people would stare,I would be ashamed of the unwanted attention.     It was difficult to walk together—and because of that,we didn't say much as we went along. But as we started out,he always said,“You set the pace. I will try to follow you.”     Our usual walk was to or from the subway, which was how he got to work. He went to work sick, and even in bad weather. He almost never missed a day,and would make it to the office even if others could not. It was a matter of pride for him.     When snow or ice was on the ground,it was impossible for him to walk, even with help. At such times my sister or I would pull him through the streets of Brooklyn,N.Y.,on a child's sleigh to the subway entrance. Once there,he would try to grasp handrail until he reached the lower steps that the warmer tunnel air kept ice free. In Manhattan the subway station was the basement of his office building, and he would not have to go outside again until we met him in Brooklyn on his way home.     When I think of it now,I am surprised at how much courage it must have taken for a grown man to suffer from shame and disability. And I am also surprised at how he did it—without bitterness or complaint.     He never talked about himself as an object of pity, nor did he show any envy of the more fortunate or able. What he looked for in others was a “good heart”,and if he found one,the owner was good enough for him.     Now that I am older,I believe that is a proper standard by which to judge people, even though I still don't know exactly what a “good heart” is. But I know the times I don't have one myself.     He has been away for many years now,but I think of him often. I wonder if he sensed my reluctance to be seen with him during our walks. If he did,I am sorry I never told him how sorry I was,how unworthy I was,how I regretted it. I think of him when I complain about my troubles, when I am envious of another's good fortune, when I don't have a “good heart”.‎ ‎(24)How did the man treat his father when he was young? ‎ A. He helped his father happily.                     B. He never helped his father. C. He helped his father, but  not very happily.          D. He only helped his father take a walk after supper.‎ ‎(25)As a disabled man,his father ________. ‎ A. didn't work very hard                                    B. didn't go to work from time to time C. hated those who had good fortune                D. was happy and satisfied, and never lost hope ‎(26)What does the underlined word “reluctance” mean in the article? It means ________. ‎ A. anger                         B. sadness                         C. happiness                         D. unwillingness ‎(27)How did the father get to work usually? ‎ A. By subway.                      B. By bus.                      C. By wheelchair.                      D. By bike.‎ C     Different people use different languages. We Chinese speak Chinese, and, most of us are learning a foreign language. But there is another kind of language we need to know — the language of the body.     All over the world, people “talk with their hand, with their heads and with their eyes.” When Japanese people meet, they bow. When Indians meet, they put their hands together. What do American and British do? Americans are more informal (不拘小节的) than the British. They like to be friendly. They use first names, they ask questions and they talk easily about themselves. When they sit down, they like to relax in their chairs and make themselves comfortable. British people are more reserved (保守的). They take more time to make friends. They like to know you before they ask your name.     When British or American people meet someone for the first time, they shake hands. They do not usually shake hands with people they know well. Women sometimes kiss their women friends, and men kiss women friends (on one cheek only). When a man meets a man, he just smiles, and says, “Hello.” Men do not kiss each other, or hold hands. Even fathers and sons do not often kiss each other. ‎ ‎(28)In the passage, the writer thinks that body language is ________. ‎ A. useless                         B. difficult                         C. quite easy                         D. important ‎(29)Which of the following is right? ‎ A. Different countries have the same body language.          B. Different countries have different body languages. ‎ C. People in Asia share the same body language.          D. Many people only use their body language.‎ ‎(30)If an American friend visits you, he probably ________. ‎ A. sit straight             B. never sits down             C. makes fun of you             D. sits freely ‎(31)If you want to make a British friend, you may feel it ________. ‎ A. impossible                         B. too easy                         C. too difficult                         D. slow D     What is it that makes people laugh? More than two thousand years ago the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle defined (定义) jokes as the pleasure that results from a feeling of triumph(胜利) by showing we're better than someone else in a certain way. According to Aristotle and many other philosophers, all jokes depend mainly on showing inferiority in another person or group of persons—that is,putting it clearly,on showing that they are worse off than ourselves. Jokes raise our good opinion of ourselves at someone else's expense. Showing how much better than other people we are is only one reason we like jokes. Someone may also use a joke to express their anger or their cruelty or any other kind of action that is not acceptable to us. We feel free to laugh when we hear about someone sliding on a banana skin. The joke lets us express those attitudes which are usually unacceptable to society. This is probably the reason why some of the jokes, especially those involving cruelty, are so popular with certain people.     Besides, all jokes depend on our enjoyment of laughing at something that is strange and out of place because it's different from things which are happening around it. The same situation can be either sad or pleasant, depending entirely on how strange and out of place it is. If a girl in a bathing suit falls into a swimming pool,we don't laugh because nothing unusual has happened. But if a man in a smart suit falls in,the situation is at once unusual in a pleasant way and we laugh. A good joke-teller will always try to build up a situation in which one thing is expected until something unexpected suddenly happens, and so we laugh. ‎ ‎(32)According to Aristotle, all jokes depend mainly on ________. ‎ A. showing inferiority in another person or group         B. resulting in a sense of success C. having a good opinion of other people         D. making people laugh unexpectedly ‎(33)The underlined word “inferiority”(in Paragraph 1) means ________. ‎ A. something that is not as good as something else         B. something that is better than something else ‎ C. someone that is not as good as someone else         D. someone that is better than someone else ‎(34)What's the main idea of Paragraph 2? ‎ A. Showing we are better than other people is the only one reason we like jokes.         B. When people are angry, they would like to hear jokes. C. People who like jokes are usually cruel.         D. To express those attitudes usually unacceptable to society is one of the reasons we like jokes.‎ ‎(35)What will a good joke teller always try to do? ‎ A. Make a sad situation into a pleasant one.        B. Make different things happen at the same time. C. Make an unexpected thing happen in an expected situation.         D. Make people laugh at something unusual and out of place.‎ 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中的两项为多余选项。‎ ‎ Everyone wants to be happy, but not everyone can make it. Do you want to have a good mood every day? If so, the following steps will be useful to you.     Be grateful.   36 They can be simple things like the purple flower on the sidewalk, the beautiful sunset, and the hot shower you take every day. When you have a grateful heart, you’11 cherish them and be naturally filled with happiness.    37 ‎ When you put your mind, heart and soul into what you’re doing, you’re creating a happiness state—called the “flow”. When you’re living in the flow, you’re less likely to mind what others may think about you, and less bothered by unimportant things. The result? More happiness, of course!     Become a problem solver.     Happy people are problem solvers.___38_____Instead, they face up to the challenge and channel their energies into finding a creative solution. By becoming a problem solver, you’ll build up your self-confidence and your ability to accomplish whatever you determine to do.     Practice forgiveness.     Hatred and anger are forms of self-punishment. When you forgive, you’re  actually practicing kindness to yourself. ___39_____ Everyone makes mistakes. It’s through our mistakes that we learn and grow to become a bigger and better person.
