at my workers!” speak to向……说;refer to提及,谈到,涉及;talk to与…… ‎ ‎15.C 单元综合知识运用检测 第一节(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)‎ A Signing up for a digital TV service provides you with access to over 200 channels from all over the globe. However, television today is dominated by adult language, making it hard for concerned families to find channels suitable for young eyes. Therefore, most movie channels are automatically removed from the list of TV channels for an entire family. The following are some good ones based on popularity on a global scale.‎ Discovery Channel Discovery and its many channels can be considered as the founding father of informative channels on television. What National Geographic ‎ does in a scholastic (学术的) manner, Discovery tries to do in an entertaining manner — educating the masses about everything.‎ Fox Family Finding a movie channel that broadcasts pictures suitable for teenagers and kids alike is very difficult unless your service operator offers you Fox family movies. This channel screens most movies before it broadcasts them, ensuring that no movie shows unacceptable material for young eyes.‎ Nickelodeon A channel very similar to Cartoon Network, it mostly shows U.S. programs. However, their shows are sometimes a bit more mature for younger kids and better suited to kids aged 5 and up.‎ ABC Family ABC started the ABC family channel in an attempt to introduce familycentered shows and serials to the public in the U.S.A. The need for this channel was felt after ABC observed the lack of proper family type U.S. channels.‎ Living If traveling is a family hobby and better living is the motto then there is no better channel than Living. Kids can see neverseenbefore sights, learning about new places while adults can practice their cooking and learn amazing things about motorbikes.‎ 语篇解读:注册数字电视服务能够提供全球范围内200多个频道,但很多频道不适合全家人一起观看。 ‎ ‎21.According to the text, most channels offered by a digital TV service ________.‎ A.can keep people away from TV violence B.are welcomed by families with small children C.are concerned about the proper use of language D.are unsuitable for the whole family to watch together 解析:选D 细节理解题。根据文章第一段第二句“... making it hard for concerned families to find channels suitable for young eyes.” ‎ ‎22.Which of the following can best describe Discovery Channel?‎ A.Relaxing. An ‎ international team prepared to descend into Krubera. The team members hoped to be the first cavers to reach a depth of 2,000 meters, brought five tons of equipment and other necessities with them, and established camps at key locations along the route. They worked for up to 20 hours each day.‎ In the third week, progress was blocked at 1,775 meters by a sump — a cave passage filled with water that gives cavers few options. There are basically three techniques available: dive through it, empty it, or go around it. Gennadiy Samokhin dove to the bottom but was disappointed. “No chance to get through,” he said. Searching for a way around the sump, Garcia Dils risked entering a waterfall of near freezing water and discovered that his dry suit had holes in it. “The water was so cold I lost the feeling in my fingers,” he said later. He, too, was unsuccessful.‎ Finally, two teammates found a way around the sump through a tight passage they called the Way to the Dream. The team was exhilarated. The passage led to yet another sump at 1,840 meters. After a short test dive, Samokhin emerged, smiling. There was a promising passage, he reported. But it would have to wait. After nearly four weeks, with supplies running low, the team had run out of time and would have to return to the surface.‎ Four weeks later, a team of nine Ukrainian cavers led by Yuri Kasjan went back to Krubera. Following the path opened by the previous team, they reached the sump at 1,840 meters relatively quickly. After much searching, a pit (坑), later named the Millennium Pit, was discovered that allowed them to pass the 2,000meter depth. More pits and passages led them to 2,080 meters, a spot they named Game Over. But the caving game is never over. Deeper caves will probably continue to be discovered and call out to be explored.‎ 语篇解读:‎ 本文是记叙文。 ‎ ‎24.Why did the team return to the surface after nearly four weeks?‎ A.They were lacking in supplies.‎ B.They had achieved their goal.‎ C.They couldn't go through the sump.‎ D.They gave their task to Yuri Kasjan's team.‎ 解析:选A 细节理解题。根据第三段中的“After nearly four weeks, with supplies running low, the team had run out of time and would have to return to the surface”可知,因为物资逐渐短缺,探洞穴者才被迫返回地面。‎ ‎25.What does the underlined word “exhilarated” probably mean in Para.3?‎ A.Cheerful. B.Powerful.‎ C.Confused. D.Exhausted.‎ 解析:选A 词义猜测题。根据画线词前的“two teammates found a way around the sump through a tight passage they called the Way to the Dream”可知,两名队员找到了通过水坑的通道,所以他们很高兴,故选A项。‎ ‎26.Which of the following is TRUE according to the text?‎ A.Game Over was discovered at 2,000 meters.‎ B.The Way to the Dream begins at 1,840 meters.‎ C.The Millennium Pit passed the 2,080meter depth.‎ D.Samokhin found a way around a sump at 1,775 meters.‎ 解析:选D 细节理解题。根据第二段中的“progress was blocked at 1,775 meters by a sump”以及第三段中的“two teammates found a way around the sump through a tight passage”可知,Samokhin在1‎ ‎ 775米处找到了绕过水坑的通道。‎ ‎27.What is the text mainly about?‎ A.The features of Krubera Cave.‎ B.Famous caves around the world.‎ C.A journey of exploring Krubera Cave.‎ D.The importance of exploring Krubera Cave.‎ 解析:选C 主旨大意题。 ‎ C On the Right Track Why do we always want to go faster? I am talking about travel. We want our cars, trains and planes to get us to places quicker. This century, there's been a rise in highspeed rail travel as people have seen the benefits of this form of transport.‎ I love train travel and have experienced the efficient and fast trains that operate in France and Japan. The acceleration and top speed of these trains are impressive. The space and comfort on board make it comfortable and the ability to see something out of the window means, according to me, it will beat air travel one day.‎ Spain recently joined the railway revolution with its AVE ultramodern highspeed train that has a top speed of 310 kilometers per hour. Its service from Madrid to Barcelona took 20% of passengers away from Spain's national airline. In Japan, a magnetic train that will run at 500 kilometers per hour is being developed.‎ This has categorized rail travel in Britain as the slow line. It has one highspeed line from London to France — HS1 — but now it is planning to construct a new line called HS2 which will connect London with the north of England. The U.K. government's transport secretary says, “This ‎ is essential to actually making sure that our great cities are connected and we get the right benefits for the United Kingdom. ”‎ But not everyone agrees. The idea of fast train travel may appeal but not if it's going to be built in your backyard. It's controversial: people are arguing over the benefits and cost of having shorter journey time, less traffic on the roads and more capacity on the rail network.‎ John Kelleher, who is a farmer and lives on the proposed site of the new line, says, “They're not taking the destruction into consideration, which HS2 will cause on its construction sites and routes through the countryside.” Some people are worried the financial and environmental cost of saving just half an hour on a journey will be too high. But other countries have shown that highspeed rail is good for the economy. It has helped poorer parts of the country reduce the need to fly and has made train travel cool.‎ 语篇解读:如今,各种各样的交通方式使我们的出行越来越快捷,高铁的发展也充分展现出了它的优势,但对于高速铁路的发展,不同的人持有不同的观点。‎ ‎28.Which is the most comfortable form of travel according to the author?‎ A.Rail. B.Air.‎ C.Highway. D.Underground.‎ 解析:选A 细节理解题。根据文章第二段“I love train travel ... it will beat air travel one day.” ‎ ‎29.Which statement is NOT the benefit of the fast train travel?‎ A.Construction of it will benefit the environment of the countryside.‎ B.It reduces traffic jam.‎ C.It saves some time on a journey.‎ D.It can hold more people.‎ 解析:选A 细节理解题。 ‎ ‎30.What is the author's attitude toward the highspeed rail?‎ A.Supportive. B.Negative.‎ C.Doubtful. D.Objective.‎ 解析:选D 推理判断题。 ‎ ‎31.What is the main idea of the passage?‎ A.People benefit from highspeed rail a lot.‎ B.More and more people are fond of traveling.‎ C.Highspeed rail travel has developed quickly recently.‎ D.Travel means having a vital effect on local economy.‎ 解析:选C 主旨大意题。 ‎ D ‎(2018·湖北部分中学模拟)Many fruits and vegetables would disappear from grocery store shelves if it weren't for honeybees. Almonds (扁桃仁), for example, are a $2.5 billion industry in California, and almond growers depend on honeybees to pollinate (授粉)‎ ‎ the crop. No honeybees would mean no almonds. Many berries (like blackberries and ‎ strawberries) need bees, as do vegetables like cucumbers and squash. And don't forget tree crops like apples, oranges and peaches. Watermelon and cantaloupes depend on bees, too.In fact, approximately 15 percent of the food Americans eat comes directly from honeybee pollination. Another 15 percent comes from animals that eat foods that bees pollinate. In other words, close to a third of the food that Americans eat currently requires honeybee pollination. Honeybee pollination is so important that bee farmers actually truck their bees from orchard (果园) to orchard and from farm to farm to help pollinate crops.‎ A honeybee starts the honey making process by visiting a flower. With luck, the flower contains nectar (花蜜), and the bee sucks some of the nectar up with a little straw built into its mouth. Most flower nectars are like sugar water; there is a little sugar mixed with water. Nectars can contain other beneficial substances as well. To make honey, two things happen.‎ The first thing uses enzymes (酶). One enzyme that bees produce turns the sucrose (蔗糖) in the nectar into glucose (葡萄糖) and fructose (果糖). Another enzyme turns some of the glucose into an acid and hydrogen peroxide By making honey acidic, it kills any bacteria that get into the honey.‎ The second thing uses evaporation (蒸发) to get rid of the extra water. Most of the moisture has to be evaporated, so that honey is only about 18 percent water. Bees evaporate the extra water by putting little drops of nectar in the hive and fanning it with their wings.‎ ‎ Honey is a very stable food. It naturally resists molds (霉菌), fungi (真菌) and other bacteria, allowing it to last for years without refrigeration.‎ 语篇解读:本文介绍了蜜蜂的重要性及蜜蜂如何授粉、如何制造蜂蜜等。‎ ‎32.Bees are always trucked between different places in order to________.‎ A.lay eggs in all the orchards and farms B.mate with bees living in different zones C.help bee farmers deal with harmful insects D.pollinate flowers or plants grown in different places 解析:选D 细节理解题。根据第一段最后一句“Honeybee pollination is so important that bee farmers actually truck their bees from orchard (果园) to orchard and from farm to farm to help pollinate crops.” ‎ ‎33.How does a honeybee suck the nectar from flowers?‎ A.Through a little straw built into its mouth.‎ B.With the help of the bee farmer.‎ C.By drinking the water that contains nectar.‎ D.By fanning it with the wings.‎ 解析:选A 细节理解题。根据第二段中的“the bee sucks some of the nectar up with a little straw built into its mouth”可知选A项。‎ ‎34.Which one is the way mentioned in the passage to make honey?‎ A.To evaporate most of the moisture in the nectar.‎ B.To kill all the bacteria in the nectar.‎ C.To expose it to sunlight for some time.‎ D.To mix the nectar with some sugar.‎ 解析:选A 细节理解题。根据第四段中的“The second thing uses ‎ evaporation (蒸发) to get rid of the extra water. Most of the moisture has to be evaporated, so that honey is only about 18 percent water.” ‎ ‎35.Why honey can be kept for a long time without being cooled?‎ A.Because there is no bacteria in it.‎ B.Because it can stand bad weather conditions.‎ C.Because it protects itself against bacteria naturally.‎ D.Because it is wellpreserved in containers.‎ 解析:选C 细节理解题。 ‎ 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ When it comes to the Internet, passwords which people often use are under fire. __36__ Research has shown that passwords are not a very good way to protect sensitive information. ‎ People would use some random characters, numbers and symbols. Furthermore, a unique password would be used for every site or application the user uses. Unfortunately, the more complex they become, the more people are likely to forget their passwords. The longer the passwords are, the more easily forgotten they are.__37__‎ Google is trying to kill off the password on Android devices by introducing the Trust API, which does what simple passwords cannot. It gives developers a framework for securing their applications using a number of security systems and metrics (指标) on the device. A Trust Score will be generated based on the metrics the device gathers. __38__‎ The Trust Score will be generated based on both metrics like your device location, face scanning, fingerprint and so on. Taken one at a time, these metrics are not secure.
