A A cheetah (猎豹) can run 70 miles per hour. Venus and Earth are about the same size. These are the facts I’ve learned from my 8-year-old son after he watched some TV shows. These TV shows include PBS kids, Nickelodeon, and Disney Junior. I have to admit that he has a good understanding of scientific facts right now. The other day, when I talked about climate(气候) change with him, I was surprised. After a few more questions, I discovered that he’d never heard any of his favorite science TV shows mention climate change or global warming. My son can tell you everything you want to know about red pandas, except for the fact that they are endangered because of the climate change. I reached out to the three TV shows to see if there was any truth about what my son had said. I was told that except a series of Disney Junior’s programs “The Big Storm”, none of these TV shows has ever discussed the causes of climate change on our planet. It is strange, because climate change is one of the most important environmental problems of our time. Why aren’t these TV shows introducing kids to such an important topic? According to Maria Vera Whelan, spokeswoman for PBS Kids, it’s because the TV shows feel that focusing on basic science facts is the best way to serve their viewers at my son’s age. I don’t know about others, but I’d rather my kid learn more about the reducing ice than other things. And kids can deal with climate change. More importantly, they are able to begin taking action to slow down global warming. My guess is that the TV shows are afraid that talking about science on a controversial (有争议的) topic will cause them to lose viewers or advertisers. But if that’s true, and they are choosing their bottom line over the education of American children, that’s a real shame. Kids shouldn’t stay in ignorance (无知) of the problems that influence their life. 21. The author mentions the cheetah, Venus and Earth to show her son ____. A. has taught her a lot B. is crazy about watching TV C. learns much from TV shows D. is really interested in science 22. The author watched the three TV shows in order to _____. A. explore the causes of climate change B. find out the reason for her son’s ignorance C. get to know more about her son’s preference D. help her son better understand environmental problem 23. What would be the best title of the text? A. Kids’ TV is influencing kids’ study. B. Kids’ TV is ignoring climate change. C. What kind of TV should kids watch? D. How can kids deal with climate change? B In 1943, when I was 4, my parents moved from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to Fairbanks, Alaska(阿拉斯加), where adventure was never very far away. We arrived in the summer, just in time to enjoy the mid-night sun. All that sunlight was wonderful for Mum’ s vegetable garden. Working in the garden at midnight tended to throw her timing off, so she didn’t care much about my bedtime. Dad was a Railway Express agent and Mum worked there with him. That left me in a mess. I usually managed to find some trouble to get into. Once I had a little fire going in the basement of a hotel. I had tried to light a barrel (桶) of paint but couldn’t really get a good fire going. The smoke got pretty bad, though, and when I made my exit, a crowd and the police were there to greet me. The policemen took away my matches and drove me home. Mum and Dad were occupied in the garden and Dad told the police to keep me, and they did! I had a tour of the prison until Mum rescued me. I hadn’t turned 5 yet. As I entered kindergarten, the serious cold began to set in. Would it surprise you to know that I soon left part of my tongue on a metal(金属) hand rail at school? As for Leonhard Seppala, famous as a dog sledder (架雪橇者), I think I knew him well because I was taken for ride with his white dog team one Sunday. At the time I didn’t realize what a superstar he was, but I do remember the ride well. I was wrapped (包裹) heavily and well protected from freezing and blowing cold weather. In 1950, we moved back to Coeur d’Alene, but we got one more Alaskan adventure when 8 years later Leonhard paid a visit to Idaho to invite us to attend a gathering of former neighbors in Alaska. 21. What can be inferred about the author’s family? A. His father was a cruel man. B. His parents didn’t love him. C. His parents used to be very busy. D. His mother didn’t have any jobs. 22. What happened when the author was 4? A. He learned to smoke. B. He was locked in a basement. C. He was arrested by the police. D. He nearly caused a fire accident. 23. Which of the following is TRUE? A. Leonhard was famous for being good at driving dog sleds. B. The author spent his whole childhood living in Alaska. C. Leonhard often visited the author’s family after 1950. D. The author suffered much while taking the dog sled in Alaska. C I began my bike-to-work experiment in the middle of summer. As winter was coming, I thought I would take at least December, January, and February off. After all, I can’t bike in winter. But I was wrong. There actually are many reasons for riding to work in winter. You may have experienced the pleasure of going past one car after another because a lane (车道) was closed for summertime road work. Winter traffic can be even worse. Last winter, I rode to work on a day with very terrible traffic. While I don’t remember having any trouble myself, traffic was backed up like crazy all over the city. Some of my co-workers got to work late and became so angry. But I wasn’t late for work because I only spent a few minutes longer than usual. The common practice is that you will gain weight in winter because there is so much holiday food. By cycling to work, you can reduce stress, stay in touch with your body’s needs, eat and play better, and even enjoy those guilt-free holiday treats, knowing that you can burn them off on your way to work. Taking the bus from November through February would cost about a little over $400. That amount can buy you a plane ticket to a place with a warm beach. If you are riding during the other three seasons, but holding on to a car for winter, this one season of driving will cost you more. If you are lucky enough to live in a place that has winter, you should get out and enjoy it. Did you know that the moon sets in different spots(地点) on the horizon in winter? One of my favorite memories of biking to work was coming to the top of a hill in the morning light and seeing through the fog of my own breath, a full pink moon setting over Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake. 27.What does the author mean by saying “I was wrong” in Paragraph 1? A. It’s not so lucky for him. B. He shouldn’t take days off work. C. He should cycle more in summer. D. It’s good to cycle to work in winter. 28. Why does the author mention his experience in last winter? A. To show his choice was wise. B. To explain why he was hardly late for work. C. To explain how heavy the traffic in his city was. D. To show cycling to work helps avoid heavy traffic. 29. What’s implied about cycling to work in winter in the last paragraph? A. It requires one to get up early. B. It can be dangerous due to fog. C. It is beneficial to one’s memory. D. It can create a pleasant experience. 30. Which of the following shows the structure of the text? A. → B. →→ C. →→ D. →→ 第一节 (共5小题,每小题2分,共10分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 I am Anne from New York. I did enjoy throwing the ball around with friends, but I never thought I had what it took to play on a team. “I’m not a football player,” I told my dad. “You’ll never know what your are able to achieve unless you give it a try, Sam,” he told me. So, I did. It gave me a strong sense of belonging and some confidence. I still remember how proud he was when I won some awards and the hug he gave me after I received my congratulation letter. There was no such a game where Dad wasn’t on the sidelines, cheering me on. Four years’ pre-season football camps finally came down to my last game. I asked my dad to bring our video camera. I waved at my parents before the opening kick-off, and then put on my game face seriously. I grabbed at the clothes of the opposing team’s running back (跑卫) and dragged him to the field. A loud cheer came from the sidelines. There was my dad with the camera, cheering like crazy. By the end of the game, I had stopped seven players and a sacking (擒杀) -- my best performance ever. I ran into my dad’s arms. I was sweaty and smelly, but he hugged me anyway. I couldn’t wait to watch the tape (录像带) to experience every moment again. As soon as we got home, I took the tape out of the camera and played it on the TV screen. My dad, mom, sister and I sat down in the living room together in front of TV. I pressed the “Play” button, and the video started. The two teams, lined up before the game, then the running back taking the handoff (传球), running up to the line, me reaching out, and then ... the sky and clouds! I could hear my dad screaming “Way to go, Sam!” as images of the sky shook up and down on screen. Paragraph 1: I moved forward closer to the screen to see the next big play. _______________________ _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: The tape ended and Dad was quiet. ______________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ 2019.10高一英语月考试题-答案 21-23 CBB 24-26 CDA 27-30 DDDA 31-35 GFCBA 36-40 CBBAC 41-45 DCBBC 46-50 DACDC 51-55 ADAAD 56. reviewed 57. his 58. I would express my sincere apology again for the delay, hoping you can forgive me and give me another chance. Sincerely Yours, Li Ming (89 words) 读后续写 One possible version: I moved forward closer to the screen to see the next big play. Strangely the sky and clouds kept rooted on the screen, but the noise on the field and the cheering shouts from my Dad continuously ran through my ears. Suddenly I realized that Dad must have cheered too crazily so that he dropped the video camera to the ground without noticing it. The final “Ya-hoo!” came as he gave me a big hug. Watching the sky and clouds, I just silently listened, and closed my eyes with my mind picturing what happened then. The tape ended and Dad was quiet. As Dad was uncomfortably shifting, I sensed the guilt in his heart. “I’m sorry,” he said, “I failed to record you the whole game.” “No. It was your cheers that fueled my courage in that fierce football game. And it’s the most precious part of the video.” I answered. Hearing my words, he smiled wider than ever before. During the incomplete tape, I found the ever-haunting(萦绕心头的) melody of the football game and my entire life. (169 words)查看更多
