[示例] (2018·全国卷Ⅰ阅读C) Languages have been coming and going for thousands of years, but in recent times there has been less coming and a lot more going. When the world was still populated by hunter—gatherers, small, tightly knit (联系) groups developed their own patterns of speech independent of each other. Some language experts believe that 10,000 years ago, when the world had just five to ten million people, they spoke perhaps 12,000 languages between them. ... 31.What is the main idea of the text? A.New languages will be created. B.People’s lifestyles are reflected in languages. C.Human development results in fewer languages. D.Geography determines language evolution. 分析:选C。本文为议论文,文章为“总—分”结构,根据第一段第一句中的“but in recent times there has been less coming and a lot more going”和后文可知,随着人类社会的发展,使得语言的种类越来越少。 [示例] (2019·全国卷Ⅱ阅读D) Bacteria are an annoying problem for astronauts. The microorganisms (微生物) from our bodies grow uncontrollably on surfaces of the International Space Station, so astronauts spend hours cleaning them up each week. How is NASA overcoming this very tiny big problem? It’s turning to a bunch of high school kids. But not just any kids.It is depending on NASA HUNCH high school classrooms, like the one science teachers Gene Gordon and Donna Himmelberg lead at Fairport High School in Fairport, New York. HUNCH is designed to connect high school classrooms with NASA engineers. For the past two years, Gordon’s students have been studying ways to kill bacteria in zero gravity, and they think they’re close to a solution (解决方案).“We don’t give the students any breaks. They have to do it just like NASA engineers,”says Florence Gold, a project manager. “There are no tests,” Gordon says.“There is no graded homework. There almost are no grades, other than‘Are you working towards your goal?’Basically, it’s ‘I’ve got to produce this product and then, at the end of the year, present it to NASA.’ Engineers come and really do an in-person review,and...it’s not a very nice thing at times. It’s a hard business review of your product.” Gordon says the HUNCH program has an impact (影响) on college admissions and practical life skills.“These kids are so absorbed in their studies that I just sit back.I don’t teach.”And that annoying bacteria? Gordon says his students are emailing daily with NASA engineers about the problem, readying a workable solution to test in space. 35.What is the best title for the text? A.NASA:The Home of Astronauts B.Space:The Final Homework Frontier C.Nature:An Outdoor Classroom D.HUNCH:A College Admission Reform 分析: 选D。 Popularity is a well-explored subject in social psychology.Mitch Prinstein, a professor of clinical psychology sorts the popular into two categories:the likable and the status seekers. The likables’ plays-well-with-others qualities strengthen schoolyard friendships, jump-start interpersonal skills and, when tapped early, are employed ever after in life and work. Then there’s the kind of popularity that appears in adolescence:status born of power and even dishonorable behavior. 33.What is the second paragraph mainly about? A.The classification of the popular. B.The characteristics of adolescents. C.The importance of interpersonal skills. D.The causes of dishonorable behavior. 分析:选A。 Then there’s the kind of popularity that appears in adolescence... People had been writing novels for a century—most experts date the first novel to Robinson Crusoe in 1719—but nobody wanted to do it professionally. The steam-powered printing press was still in its early stages; the literacy(识字)rate in England was under 50%.Many works of fiction appeared without the names of the authors, often with something like “By a lady”.Novels, for the most part, were looked upon as silly, immoral or just plain bad. In 1870,when Dickens died, the world mourned him as its first professional writer and publisher, famous and beloved, who had led an explosion in both the publication of novels and their readership and whose characters—from Oliver Twist to Tiny Tim—were held up as moral touchstones.Today Dickens’ greatness is unchallenged.Removing him from the pantheon (名人堂) of English literature would make about as much sense as the Louvre selling off the Mona Lisa. How did Dickens get to the top? For all the feelings readers attach to stories, literature is a numbers game, and the test of time is extremely difficult to pass. Some 60,000 novels were published during the Victorian age, from 1837 to 1901; today a casual reader might be able to name a half-dozen of them. It’s partly true that Dickens’style of writing attracted audiences from all walks of life. It’s partly that his writings rode a wave of social, political and scientific progress. But it’s also that he rewrote the culture of literature and put himself at the center. No one will ever know what mix of talent, ambition, energy and luck made Dickens such a distinguished writer. But as the 200th anniversary of his birth approaches,it is possible—and important for our own culture—to understand how he made himself a lasting one. 23.What is the author’s purpose in writing the text? A.To remember a great writer. B.To introduce an English novel. C.To encourage studies on culture. D.To promote values of the Victorian age. 分析:选A。 【即时训练】 A (2019·山西省八校联考)In a post on Love What Matters,Hanss Mujica,24,explains how he surprised his family by announcing he’d be graduating from college. Mujica says he wasn’t a hard-working student in high school, but was able to pass his classes.“In high school, teachers are always on top of you to see if you turned in your work or if you read the assigned book,” Mujica writes on the post. But when he went to college, that wasn’t the case. “Professors tell you the work that needs to get done and it is up to you to decide if you want to do it or not. After all you are the ones that are paying to be there. That,I believe, was my downfall as a college student. My behavior caused me to be suspended(被暂时停学) from the university.” Mujica says that at that time,he had a 1.47 grade point average.“When my parents got the news, the looks on their faces completely broke my heart.” Then Mujica explains how he got his schooling back on track:he went in with a different attitude, applied himself, and worked at a company to pay for school. “Since I was suspended from the university,my federal aid was suspended as well.I was paying out of pocket and it got to the point where I had to get emergency loans(贷款) from the university.Summer 2015 came by and I could not pay back the loans so I was dropped from my fall 2015 courses.I got out another year from the university and in summer of 2016 I decided to work upstate(在州的乡野地区) to raise the money I needed.” Fortunately, with help from the university dance program and the money he earned at work,Mujica returned to school in fall 2016. In 2018,Mujica was ready to graduate. He left his parents a letter and two tickets for graduation to surprise them with.“I spent six years in and out of the university but seeing the reactions on their faces was worth every sleepless night,” says Mujica. 1.What do we know about Mujica from the first two paragraphs? A.24-year-old finally wins his parents’ support B.Six-year college life puts Mujica under pressure C.College student surprises parents with the graduation D.A moving story on Love What Matters attracts attention 答案 C [标题归纳题。 B At the age of seven, while his friends were spending their allowance on things like candy and toys,Jose Adolfo Quisocola was busy saving money for basic purchases. To try to get his peers(同龄人) to do the same, the boy from Peru came up with the idea of an eco-bank,the Bartselana Student Bank, which allows kids of all ages to become financially independent while also helping the environment. Set up in 2012,the bank is the world’s first bank for kids.To become a member,a kid has to bring in at least 5 kilograms of solid waste and set a savings goal.Once accepted, all bank “partners” are required to deposit at least one additional kilogram of recyclables on a monthly basis and observe other requirements, such as attending financial education and environmental management workshops. The waste accumulated is sold to local recycling companies, which, thanks to Jose’s efforts, pay a higher-than-market rate for everything brought in by the bank members. The money received is placed in the personal account where they collect until the savings goal is reached. The account holder can then withdraw the money,or choose to leave it and make it continue to grow for a bigger target.“At the beginning,my teachers thought I was crazy or that a child could not undertake this type of project,” Jose recalls.“They did not understand that we are not the future of the country but its present.Luckily,I had the support of the school headmaster and an assistant in my class.” The boy’s efforts paid off,and by 2013,the bank had over 200 members, who brought in one ton of recyclable waste.Today, the eco-bank,which now has the support of several local institutions, boasts ten educational centers. They are designed to teach over 3,000 students, aged 10 to 18,to become financially independent, use their money wisely, and help the environment. Not surprisingly,Jose’s efforts have earned him several national and international awards. On November 20,2018,Jose won Children’s Climate Prize, which comes with a medal and $5,500 in prize money and is given to a child or youth who has accomplished an extraordinary achievement for the climate or environment. 5.Why did Jose set up the bank? A.To raise money and set up a recycling company. B.To buy necessities and donate them to needy kids. C.To save much money and protect the environment. D.To educate the students and help them win prizes. 6.How can a kid be admitted to the eco-bank? A.By donating to the eco-bank. B.By turning in one kilogram of waste in a month. C.By sending in an application. D.By presenting a savings goal and a certain amount of waste. 根据第二段第二句“To become a member,a kid has to bring in at least 5 kilograms of solid waste and set a savings goal”可知,若要成为生态银行的一员,一个孩子必须至少上交5千克的固体垃圾,并设定一个储蓄目标,故D项正确。] 7.How did the teachers feel about Jose’s program? A.Doubtful. B.Excited. C.Moved. D.Worried. 根据第三段第四句中的“At the beginning,my teachers thought I was crazy or that a child could not undertake this type of project”可知,开始时老师们认为Jose疯了,认为一个孩子不能承担这种类型的项目。 8.What is Paragraph 4 mainly about? A.How the environment is improved. B.What the project has achieved. C.How tons of waste has been recycled. D.What support the local institutions get. 根据第四段的第一句“The boy’s efforts paid off,and by 2013,the bank had over 200 members, who brought in one ton of recyclable waste”可知,Jose的努力得到了回报,到2013年,该银行已有200多名成员,他们带来了一吨可回收垃圾,并结合该段其他内容可知,该段主要介绍了生态银行的成就,故B项正确。]
