B This all started a few months ago, when I had a dull pain in the back of my mouth, around where one of my wisdom teeth was supposed to be coming in. I thought it was a pain that I could live with for a while. However, during the next few weeks, the pain became more intense, spreading to my teeth, gums and jaw. I was told I had seven wisdom teeth. Yes, you read that correctly, seven — three more than a normal person. My first reaction when I heard was to laugh. It’s just my luck. My mouth wanted to do more work than it had to. Focusing on the positive, one of the great things about having extra teeth is watching people’s reactions when they find out. So far, I haven’t grown tired of repeating myself. The extra teeth are also a good excuse for me being tongue-tied. I can now blame it on my overcrowded mouth rather than my slow brain. Of course, with wisdom teeth come the intellect jokes. My parents say my intelligence comes from my extra teeth and not my hard work. My friends agree that once the teeth are pulled, my brain will be that of a 5-year-old. I’ve also thought about how I might profit from this. If only I still believed in the tooth fairy, I could make a lot of cash. Maybe I could sell my extras to someone in need. Advertisement: Seven teeth for sale, unused, in almost perfect condition. Don’t be fooled by my jokes. I am worried about having surgery. I’m also going to be sad to see the Lucky Seven go. I’ve developed quite an attachment to them over the past two days. Once they’re removed, I’ll just be normal again, and who wants that? 24.When the author found that she had three more wisdom teeth than a normal person, she ________. A.found it quite funny B.dealt with the pain calmly C.was confused and anxious D.kept it secret from others 25.The intellect jokes from the author’s family and friends were intended to ________. A.persuade the author not to remove her wisdom teeth B.advise the author to work hard to improve her intelligence C.make fun of the author in a light-hearted way D.let the author know why she is often tongue-tied 26.When the author brought up the idea of tooth fairy, she ________. A.thought she could rely on it to make a living B.had already made up her mind to make money C.believed that her wisdom teeth were in perfect condition D.was deeply aware that the idea couldn’t become reality 27.What’s the article mainly about? A.People’s different reactions to the author’s wisdom teeth. B.How the author has gotten on with her extra wisdom teeth. C.The author’s ideas for making use of her wisdom teeth. D.How the author has decided to remove her wisdom teeth. C For the first time, the World Health Organization has included Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in its globally influential medical compendium(手册), according to an international science journal. An article published by Nature on Wednesday said that TCM will be included in the latest version of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD)set to be released next year. Starting from the 1800s, the ICD has been improved and published in a series of editions, reflecting the advances in health and medical science over time. It serves as the foundation for the identification of global health trends, and the international standard for diseases and health conditions. The latest ICD is based largely on the work of the International Classification of Traditional Medicine (ICTM) project's experts from around the world. These experts had been working on traditional medicine research and practices for years. China has been promoting the modernization of TCM and pushing for TCM to gain acceptance worldwide. Tu Youyou, a Chinese expert focusing on the scientific study of drugs and medicines, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2015 for her research in TCM. Her discovery has saved millions of lives in developing countries in South Asia, Africa and South America. TCM is sure to grow in popularity globally. Though the application of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture(针灸) and other traditional medical practices has been on the rise, there's still a shortage of global classification and terminology(术语) tools for traditional medicine, according to officials of the WHO. “The decision is to promote the safe and effective use of traditional medicine by regulating, researching and combining traditional medicine products, practitioners and practice into health systems, where appropriate," the WHO was quoted as saying by Nature. 28. What can we learn about the ICD from Paragraph 2? A. It has included TCM this year. B. It has a history of over 300 years. C. It is published in various languages. D. It provides standards for diseases worldwide. 29. Why does the author mention Tu Youyou in Paragraph 4? A. To imply the worldwide popularity of TCM. B. To prove TCM's gaining worldwide acceptance C. To introduce a breakthrough in the medical field. D. To show Chinese people deserve the Nobel Prize for their contribution. 30. Which aspect of TCM has shown an upward trend worldwide? A. The classification of TCM. B. The standard of TCM terms. C. The official promotion of TCM. D. The use of traditional Chinese medicine 31. Which column of website is the text most probably taken from? A. Lifestyle. B. Opinion C. Health. D. Tech D Smile, you’re on body cam As camera technology gets smaller and cheaper, it isn’t hard to imagine a future where we’re all filming everything all the time, in every direction. Would that be a good thing? There are some obvious potential upsides. If people know they are on camera, especially when at work or using public services, they are surely less likely to misbehave. Another upside is that it would be harder to get away with crimes or to escape from blame for accidents. Body-cam data could also create a legal minefield(雷区). Arguments over the truth and interpretation of police footage(影像) have already surfaced. Eventually, events not caught on camera could be treated as if they didn’t happen. Alternatively, footage could be faked or doctored (伪造) to avoid blame or do wrong to others. Of course, some people think that if you are not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to fear. But most people have done something embarrassing, or even illegal, that they regret and would prefer hadn’t been caught on film. People already remove their social media feeds or avoid doing anything wrong in public — for fear of damaging their reputation. The always-on-camera world could even threaten some of the qualities that make us human. We are natural persons who enjoy talking about other people’s private lives and while those might not be desirable behaviours, they oil the wheels of our social interactions. Once people assume they are being filmed, they are likely to keep silent. The argument in relation to body-cam ownership is a bit like that for guns: once you go past a critical threshold(临界值), almost everyone will feel they need one as an insurance policy. We are nowhere near that point yet- but we should think hard about whether we really want to say lights, body cam, action. 32.What does the underlined word “upsides” in Paragraph 2 refer to? A.advantages. B.rules. C.shortcomings. D.dangers. 33.Why do people argue about police footage? A.Police footage can show the truth. B.Events caught on footage are treated unfairly. C.Police footage could be changed on purpose. D.Footage should not be filmed by police. 34.What does the author believe? A.People behave well with cameras on. B.People’s private lives should be respected. C.Talking about others’ private lives promotes social interactions. D.People keep silent before cameras when talking about themselves. 35.What is suggested in the last paragraph? A.We don’t need a critical threshold. B.We should be cautious in adopting body-cam. C.We need body-cam as an insurance policy. D.We haven’t decided whether to take action. 第二节 (共5小题; 每小题2分, 满分10 分) 根据短文内容, 从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 When everything goes wrong, always look at what you have, instead of what you have lost. Because it’s not what the world takes away from you that counts; it’s what you do with what you have left. 36 Pain is part of growing. Sometimes life closes doors because it’s time to move forward. 37 When times are tough, remind yourself that no pain comes without a purpose. Remember that there are two kinds of pain: pain that hurts and pain that changes you. When you roll with life, instead of resisting it, both kinds help you grow. 38 Every time you get hurt, you heal. After darkness there is always light – you are reminded of this every morning, but still you often forget, and instead choose to believe that the night will last forever. It won’t. Nothing lasts forever. Complaining changes nothing. 39 It’s always better to attempt to do something great and fail than to attempt to do nothing and succeed. It’s not over if you’ve lost; it’s over when you do nothing but complain about it. If you believe in something, keep trying. Don’t let the shadows of the past darken the doorstep of your future. The best thing you can do is to keep going. Don’t be afraid to get back up----to try again, to love again, to live again, and to dream again. Don’t let a hard lesson harden your heart. Life’s best lessons are often learned at the worst times and from the worst mistakes. There will be times when it seems like everything that could possibly go wrong is going wrong. 40 A. Everything in life is temporary. B. And even if you fall short, keep going. C. Your scars are symbols of your strength. D. Those who complain the most, accomplish the least. E.Here are a few tips to inspire you when you need it most. F.That’s a good thing because we often won’t move unless life forces us to . G.When you feel like quitting, remember that sometimes things can be right eventually. 第三部分 英语知识运用 (共两节, 满分45分) 第一节 完形填空 (共20小题; 每小题1.5分, 满分30分) 阅读下面短文, 从短文后各题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中, 选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.” A long time ago, my friend Joan believed it. It means other places often look better, more interesting than the place where you live. “Let’s go to KFC for dinner and then watch some Japanese cartoons!” We all know it: more and more Chinese kids love American and Japanese food and movies. Some people worry that young Chinese are beginning to feel that way. They see young Chinese ignoring(忽视)Chinese culture and, instead, buying Japanese cartoon books, watching Korean soap operas and even celebrating western holidays. Foreign books and soap operas are good, but Chinese writers and actors are just as good. As for holidays, Christmas is nice, but it can never have the meaning for Chinese that Spring Festival has, and the West has nothing to compare with the Mid-Autumn Festival. China has lots of cool things in its culture: calligraphy, Beijing Opera, quick meals on the streets, and even Jay Chou! And let’s not forget the part of Chinese culture I like best: its friendliness. Not all countries are as warm as China. It’s good to enjoy other cultures and learn from them, but they can never replace your own culture. It’s good to look on the other side of the fence, but make sure you take a good long look. You will find that the grass isn’t always greener. Although some people become worried about that, I don’t think they should. Will we get more powerful without learning from other countries? Will Chinese people live more happily without American fast food? Besides, it’s fun to learn about different cultures. Chinese kids can learn about other cultures and have fun, but they also need to learn more about their own culture. Be proud of Chinese culture and of being Chinese! 泉港一中2019~2020学年上学期第一次月考 高二英语试卷答案 第一部分 听力 (共两节, 满分30分) 1~5 BCABC 6~10 CCACC 11~15 ACBBA 16~20 ACAAC 第二部分 阅读理解 (共两节, 满分40分) 第一节 (共15小题; 每小题2分, 满分30分) A篇 ABA B篇ACDB C篇 BBDC D篇A C C B 第二节 (共5小题; 每小题2分, 满分10 分) 35-40 EFADB 第三部分 英语知识运用 (共两节, 满分45分) 第一节 完形填空 (共20小题; 每小题1.5分, 满分30分) 41.B C D A A 46.B C D A B 51.C D A B C 55.D A B C A 第二节 (共10小题; 每小题1.5分, 满分15分) 61.what 62.better 63.a 64.to change 65.simply 66.intelligent 67.invented 68.description 69.that 70.Supported 第四部分写作(共两节;满分35分) 第一节单句改错(共10小题;每小题1分,满分10分) 71. accepted 72. winning 73. aboard 74. Text 3 M: What stop is this? W: 6th Avenue. The bus won’t stop again until 8th Avenue. M: Oh, no. I missed my stop! Why didn’t you remind me when the bus arrived at 5th Avenue? Text 4 M: Do you want to go out for a walk? W: What, now? I can’t. It’s “Soap Time”. Don’t you watch it? M: Are you kidding? Soap operas(肥皂剧)are for people who have nothing better to do. Text 6 M: Here is the list of the clothes I want to take to Los Angeles. Do you think I’ve thought of everything? W: Let’s see. Sweaters, jackets, scarves… M: Yes, it’s spring in Los Angeles, and it’ll be cool. W: Not all the time. What will you wear if it’s warm? M: If it’s warm, I won’t wear a sweater! W: Fine, but you don’t have any T-shirts or socks on your list. M: Oh, I forgot. I’ll take a couple of socks and some T-shirts. Are they in my bedroom? W: Yes, in your clothes cupboard. Text 8 M: I know that you don’t feel very well and you’re losing weight. Has school been very difficult lately? W: Yes. I just finished taking my midterm exams. I’ve been drinking a lot of coffee to stay up late to study. M: What about exercise? Have you been able to get any exercise during midterm exams? W: No. I’ve been studying so much that I haven’t had time. M: It sounds to me that you haven’t given your body a chance to get better. W: What should I do? M: First, you must sleep more. Next, you have to eat better. Your body cannot work well if you don’t give it good food. Try to eat more vegetables and fruits. And limit your coffee to two cups a day. Finally, you should exercise more. It doesn’t have to be running or dancing. Walking is an excellent exercise and is easy to do. W: All right. Thank you, doctor. Text 9 M: Hi, Melissa! How are you doing? W: I’m so stressed(焦虑不安,心力交瘁)! I don’t know where to go to school and what to major in! M: Don’t worry. You have plenty of time to decide. W: Actually, I don’t. If I want to get scholarships to help me pay for tuition(学费), I need to apply by Monday. M: Oh, I see. Well, let me see if I can help you. What’s your favorite subject? W: I like English, math, art, and music. M: OK. Which one do you like the most? W: I guess I’d have to say English. I usually do pretty well in English classes, too. M: OK. Stop dreaming. Text 10 W: A travel website conducted a survey on hotel complaints and found some unusual things. The site Skyscanner. Net surveyed 400 hotel staff in 39 countries. It asked about the strangest things guests had asked for or complained about. Staff said that most of the unusual complaints were about food. Other requests were about rooms. Not every hotel room is to everybody’s taste, but the complaints in the Skyscanner survey were so strange that they make you wonder how the hotel staff answered. It would be impossible for any hotel to make some of these complaining guests happy. The complaints about food were very strange. One guest asked for 16 cucumbers a day. Another requested only the right leg of a chicken. The staff wondered if the left leg didn’t taste as nice as the right leg. One guest asked for something not normally on the menu — crocodile soup.
