But now a study has found it really does help people nod off—if it is milked from a cow at night. Researchers have discovered that “night milk” contains more melatonin(褪黑激素), which has been proven to help people feel sleepy and reduce anxiety. The study, by researchers from Seoul, South Korea, involved mice being fed with dried milk powder made from cows milked both during the day and at night.     Those given night milk, which contained 10 times the amount of melatonin, were less active and less anxious than those fed with the milk collected during daytime, according to the study published in The Journal of Medicinal Food.      Night milk quickened the start of sleep and caused the mice to sleep longer.      While the effect of cows milk harvested at different time has not been tested on humans up to now, taking melatonin drugs has been suggested to those who are struggling to fall asleep at night.      Previous studies have also indicated that milk can be excellent for helping sleep because of the calcium content, which helps people to relax.      Milk is also sugar-free and additive-free with nutritionists recommending skimmed milk as the best choice before bed as it is the least fattening. The more fat you take in before bedtime, the greater burden you will put on your body at night. ‎ ‎4. According to the text, the mice fed with daytime milk_______. For men, the preferred cut is short on the sides and back but longer on top. For women, the company prefers a bob with a longer fringe (刘海) that can be swept to one side. This unusual request is its effort to help the country save energy. The spokeswoman for the Tokyo-based construction firm Maeda Corporation Chizuru Inoue explained, “Our company is eager to protect the environment and we encourage our staff to carry out many environment-friendly actions.” She added, “We are not sure of the data yet, but we believe if people have short hair, they do not need to use their hairdryers for so long and they will use less water. If all our employees do this, then we may save a lot of power.” Some staff are confused about which style they must have and have been asking which salons give the best cut. The energy-saving move is part of a national campaign to reduce energy consumption following the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Japan has been struggling to produce enough ‎ electricity since the tsunami ended production at the Fukushima plants. The disaster resulted in a review of the country’s energy policy that now means less than a quarter of its remaining nuclear plants are in use. The government has talked about a move away from nuclear energy towards more sustainable technologies. Many government departments have taken measures to save power, including a reduced use of air conditioning in offices and schools. Many employees cannot turn down the air conditioner below 27 degrees in the hottest summer months. 8.  The company gave the order of hairstyles to_________.  A. keep the company offices clean            B. help reduce energy consumption. Short Hairstyles May Help Save Energy ‎ D From Madrid to Buenos Aires to Panama City to Lisbon, President Xi Jinping has tirelessly promoted the building of a community of shared future for mankind, and the Belt and Road Initiative (倡议) as a means to achieve that. But all don’t see it that way. While some are quick to see its positive potentials, other countries insist on viewing it skeptically. There have been the usual doubts ‎ about the intention behind, although the mysterious threat they speak of is one they seem unable to explain clearly. To some of them, it is a vague assumption that investments from China are potential “debt traps”that call for extreme caution or “threats to national security”. That is why the business combinations involving Chinese companies which would be mutually (相互地) beneficial have  hit the rocks. The Chinese telecommunications technology giant Huawei, for instance, has found the doors to the 5G telecommunications markets of advanced countries closed to it on “national security” grounds. Likewise, the European Union has agreed on a framework regulating foreign investment (投资), particularly those from China. on the same account. Even as Chinese and Portuguese leaders discuss bilateral (双边的) cooperation under the Belt and Road, there is no lack of concern about “China’s influence”, But existing EU rules do not forbid Lisbon from seeking such a partnership. If Lisbon sees no harm from foreign investment, no outsider is in a position to prevent it from making a choice in its own best interests. Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa has reminded EU decision-makers of his country’s desire for foreign investment, and advised the latter to avoid taking “the path of protectionism”. It was a timely reminder. Faring the challenges in today’s world, China and the countries that have embraced the Belt and Road are convinced it is the way to common development and the world’s lasting peace and stability. 12. Some countries that hold a negative attitude towards the Initiative mainly doubt its___________.      . A. power    B. intention   C. mystery     D. potential 13. It can be learned from the passage that__________.     . A. Huawei has caused serious security problems ‎ abroad B.China’s investment in Portugal has been extremely smooth C. the EU will take relatively strict measures on Chinese investment D. the Road and Belt Initiative has gained much popularity for “China’s influence” 15. What is the author’s attitude towards Portuguese Prime Minister’s advice? A. Negative.    B. Positive.    C. Doubtful.    D. Unclear.‎ 七选五(5*2分)‎ If you sat up or had a poor night of sleep last night, you know it’s difficult to stay awake in class today. Your teacher’s voice might begin to sound like a lullaby(催眠曲).   16   To keep yourself awake, some tips are worth trying in class. Sit in the front of the room. Why?   17   Besides, it’ll be easier to pay attention and participate when you’re in the front. You’ll also be near the people who are more likely to participate, and the sound of their voices might keep you awake.   18   Ask and answer questions and pay attention to the lecture. This will help if you’re tired or discouraged by the content of the lecture, because you can ask your teacher questions to get to the bottom of the problems. Talking will also keep you engaged and alert. It might be helpful to make a goal for yourself to answer or ask at least 3 questions per class.   19   For example, you might say “I didn’t understand the last part of the proof. Could you explain it again in more detail?” Listen actively to the lesson. Active listening is a great way to force yourself to stay awake because it requires engagement of your mind as well as your body.   20   To effectively listen to your teacher, you should try to maintain eye contact, face the speaker, pay close attention to what the speaker is saying and ask questions during a pause in the lecture. A. Develop interest in the subject. B. Participate in class activities. C. Keep silent all the time and try to catch as much information as possible. ‎ D. I’m glad I can help with it. Mobile payment can be received almost anywhere in China. For example, when my family eat out in a restaurant, see a doctor, or pay electricity and water bills, we’d rather make payments with our mobile phones. With the widespread use of mobile payment, Wechat or Alipay is the most convenient and safest way to pay. We rarely need to carry a wallet or cash at all. Besides, never will we worry about getting fake notes or having to count change. In short, mobile payment has greatly changed people's life in China. Personally, I think mobile payment should be encouraged. First, it has won over consumers with its convenience. Another advantage is that there are often discounts if you make mobile payment. The reason is that major online payment platforms are competing to have more consumers use their service. I hope my explanation can be of some help to you. Wish you good luck. Yours, Li Hua
