If you plan to visit the St. Louis Zoo, you can go there__________.‎ A. on New Year' Day B. on Christmas Day C. at 5: 30 p. m. in winter D. at 8: 30 a. m. in summer B Albert Einstein(1879--1955) was one of the greatest and most original scientific thinkers of all time.‎ Born of Jewish parents in Germany, he completed his education in Switzerland and got his Ph. D at the University of Zurich. He went to live in the United States in 1933 because of the rise of Nazism(纳粹) in Germany and Hitler's persecution(迫害) of the Jews.‎ In 1905, while still at Zurich, he published his Special Theory of Relativity, which was based on things everyone may have noticed. If two trains are standing alongside each other and one train starts to move, a person sitting in the train may wonder whether his own train is moving or the other is moving, and before he finds out what is happening, he can see that one train is moving relatively to the other. From this and also from other more complicated facts, Einstein came to the conclusion that all motion is relative and that there are really no such things as absolute motion.‎ Some of the other conclusions he drew are that nothing can go faster than light, and that if something such as a ruler was moving faster and faster it would seem to get shorter and shorter as its speed was near the speed of light. By 1915, Einstein had made known his General Theory of Relativity. He also improved on Newton's theory of gravity. Most of his theories have been tested and found to be true though some may sound strange. For his important work he was awarded the 1921 Nobel Prize for Physics.‎ ‎25. In 1933. Einstein went to live in the United States because___________.‎ A. he loved the USA more than his own country B. he had got some friends there with whom he could work together C. he wanted to live quietly in the USA D. he could no longer work in Germany when Hitler came into power ‎26. Einstein published his Special Theory of Relativity when he was__________.‎ A. in the United States B. in Ulm, Germany after he got his Ph. D C. still in Switzerland at the age of twenty-six D. still at the University of Zurich at the age of thirty-six ‎27. One of the conclusions drawn by Einstein is that ____________.‎ A. places go faster than trains and buses B. people couldn’t run as fast as vehicles C. light goes the fastest of all the things D. two trains can go in different directions C In the future your automobile will run on instead of gas! You will be able to buy a supercomputer that fits in your pocket! You might even drive a flying car!‎ Not all past predictions have been proven wrong. A few of them have been surprisingly accurate. Some great thinkers predicted the arrival of the credit card, the fax machine and even the Internet ‎ years before they happened. But for each prediction that has come true, some others have missed by a mile. Many of these predictions didn't consider how people would want to use the technology, or if people really needed it in their lives or not. Let,'s look at some predictions from the not-too-distant past.‎ Robot Helpers Where's the robot in my kitchen? Nowhere,of course. And he' s probably not coming anytime soon. Robots do exist today, but mostly in factories and other working environments. Back in the 1950s, however, people said that by now personal robots would be in most people's homes. So why hasn't it happened? Maybe because robots are still too expensive and clumsy(笨拙的)。 And probably the idea of robots cooking our dinners and washing our clothes is just too strange. At home we seem to be doing fine without them.‎ Telephones of tomorrow In 1964 an American company introduced the video telephone. They said by the year 2000 most people would have a video phone in their homes. But of course the idea hasn't caught on yet. Why? The technology worked fine, but it overlooked something obvious: people desire for privacy. Would you want to have a video phone conversation with someone after you just stepped out of the shower? Probably not---it could be uncomfortable! Just because technology doesn't always mean people will want to use it.‎ And finally, how about that crazy prediction of the flying car? It's not so crazy any more! But a flying car remains one of the most wonderful technology ideas to catch our imagination. Keep watching the news or perhaps the sky outside your window to see what the future will bring.‎ ‎28. The passage mainly deals with____________.‎ A. predictions that can catch our imagination ‎ B. predictions that haven ‘t come true C. new technology can benefit our life D. predictions that have come true ‎29. According to the passage, which of the following statements is NOT true?‎ A. Technology doesn't always mean people will want to use it.‎ B. Predictions don't need to consider people's practical use of the technology C. Not all the high-tech things people thought we'd be using by now are widely used D.High-tech things are not always convenient to people's life ‎30. Robot Helpers haven't been used in most people's homes because____________________.‎ A. using the kind of robots at home is simply a waste of time and money B. the kind of robots hasn't been developed yet C. people find it difficult to control the kind of robots D. the kind of robots won't bring people practical use ‎31. How does the writer find the flying car?‎ A. It is too difficult to imagine B. It is too crazy an idea to realize.‎ C. It is likely to appear in the future D. It has been the focus of the news D Imagine this: your child has just been involved in an emergency. You call 911. The medical workers rush in and begin asking you questions as they work to rescue your child. But they also ask questions about your child's medical history. It's hard to think clearly. You begin to answer and then end up saying,“I don' t remember. I don't know.” So, many doctors suggest that parents keep a record of their children's important health facts handy. This can often help the medical team make a better and more rapid diagnosis of a problem at a time when time really counts.‎ The most important information to know is the child’s allergies(过敏 ). It is especially crucial if the child is allergic to any medicine--penicillin, for example. Food allergies can come into play, too, so make notes of those as well. Children who have been hospitalized in the past may have developed latex(胶乳) allergies. Often this information can help emergency workers find a cause for problems like breathing difficulties.‎ Keep a list of any medicine, including what your child is now taking. Some medicines can cause an adverse reaction when they are taken together, so the doctors need this information before they give your child anything. You'll need to know when the child took the medicine last and how much was taken.‎ It is also important to tell emergency workers about any health problem or illness your child has had. These pre-existing conditions can have a huge effect on the type of tests and treatment in an emergency.‎ Consider having any child who has a health problem wear a tag(标签) around his neck. This kind of rapid notice can help doctors who are providing emergency care, especially if your child suddenly becomes ill at day care, school, or a friend's house.‎ ‎32. According to the first paragraph, the author probably thinks that, in an emergency, _________________.‎ A. parents usually can’t recall their children's medical history B. doctors shouldn't ask parents too many questions C. the medical service offered by 911 is not good D.parents should record their children's daily activities ‎33. Good communication makes you more popular. 36 Here are some tips to help you become a better communicator.‎ Listen. Most of us are terrible listeners. Instead of truly listening to what the person is saying, we interrupt(打断), prepare our response, or think we already know what the speaker is going to say next. 37‎ Pay attention to body language. Body language can tell you just as much as what a person says, if not more. 38 Is your co-worker saying she can finish her task on time ,but wringing(搓) her hands while she says it ? She might be afraid to tell you it will be hard to make the due date.‎ ‎39 Not everyone likes to communicate in the same way. Email works for some, but others would rather pick up the phone and talk, text, or even use social media to say something . Respect the person you’re trying to communicate with and use the method he/she accepts more easily.‎ Consider you tone(强调). The problem with email and social media is that it can be difficult to determine the tone. 40 But if it comes off pushy or angry, you could cause a misunderstanding with the recipient. Make sure your language is clear, and if you are angry, take a few minutes to cool down before you type.‎ A. Try to avoid being too serious.‎ B. You may mean something as a joke.‎ C. Consider communication preference.‎ D. Watch carefully how they act when they talk.‎ E. See how others respond to your communication.‎ F. Yet many of us haven’t been trained in how to communicate with others.‎ G. It’s impossible to understand what someone needs if we don’t give them our full attention.‎ 第三部分  英语知识运用(共两节,满分45分)‎ 第一节:完型填空(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分)‎ 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的四个选项(A,B,C和D)中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。‎ My life suffered a lot five years ago when my father died in the accident ,leaving my mother and two younger brothers alone.
