This would be her first trip with her father on what he had always been famous for.‎ Larry first began diving when he was his daughter’s age. Similarly, his father had taken him along on one of his expeditions. Since then, he had never looked back. Larry started out by renting diving suits from the small diving shop just along the shore. He had hated them. They were either too big or too small. Then, there was the instructor. He gave him a short lesson before allowing him into the water with his father. He had made an exception(例外). Larry would never have been able to go down without at least five hours of theory and another similar number of hours on practical lessons with a guide. Children his age were not even allowed to dive.‎ After the first expedition, Larry’s later diving adventures only got better and better. There was never a dull moment. In his black and blue suit and with an oxygen tank fastened on his back, Larry dived from boats into the middle of the ocean. Dangerous areas did not prevent him from continuing his search. Sometimes, he was limited to a cage underwater but that did not bother him. At least, he was still able to take photographs of the underwater creatures.‎ Larry’s first expedition without his father was in the Cayman Islands. There were numerous diving spots in the area and Larry was determined to visit all of them. Fortunately for him, a man offered to take him around the different spots for free. Larry didn’t even know what the time was, how many spots he dived into or how many photographs he had taken. The diving spots afforded such a wide range of fish and sea creatures that Larry saw more than thirty varieties of creatures.‎ Larry looked at his daughter. She looked as excited as he had been when he was her age. He hoped she would be able to continue the family tradition. Already, she looked like she was much braver than had been then. This was the key to a successful underwater expedition.‎ ‎24. In what way was this expedition different for Larry? ‎ A. His daughter had grown up. B. He had become a famous diver.‎ C. His father would dive with him. D. His daughter would dive with him.‎ ‎25. What can be inferred from Paragraph 2?‎ A. Larry had some privileges. B. Larry liked the rented diving suits.‎ C. To dive into the deep water.‎ ‎ C. To protect himself from danger. D. To take photo more conveniently.‎ ‎27. What can be learned from the underlined sentence?‎ A. Larry didn’t wear a watch. B. Larry was not good at math.‎ C. Larry had a poor memory. D. Larry enjoyed the adventure.‎ C The concept of a working holiday is fairly simple. It is a vacation which normally lasts for several weeks or even months, during which you divide your time between work and recreation. The typical working holiday includes some manual labor and sightseeing. You can usually get room and board in exchange for a few hours of work. For instance, Australia and New Zealand encourage working holidays by offering one-year visas to people between the ages of 18 and 30. Countries all over the world offer the chances to work or volunteer and live in a new environment. All you need is a return ticket and enough cash to live on. ‎ While some people choose to work in restaurants or hotels, others may do fruit picking which is perhaps the most popular type of work. Be prepared for long working days in the orchard, which may last up to ten hours a day. If you are not ready for this, a more leisurely job with shorter hours is possible, but you will not ‎ make as much money. Another option is volunteering in foreign countries. For example, you can work with disabled children in Bolivia and practice your Spanish, research dolphins and whales in Italy, or build schools in rural towns in Ghana. ‎ A working holiday is a great way to broaden your horizons since it gives you the chance to explore a country, practice a new language, and meet people from all over the world. These kinds of adventures sometimes have a really big impact on those who have experienced a working holiday. They often say that it was one of the best memories of their lives. Be aware! Even though some working vacation programs pay, not all of them do sometimes you end up paying to go on working vacation. She is a famous scientist who lived with and studied chimpanzees for many years. A chimpanzee is an intelligent African animal that is like a large monkey without a tail. When Jane was young, her father gave her a toy chimpanzee. And she became interested in these animals. In 1957, her love for animals led her to call Dr. Louis Leakey, a famous scientist, who offered ‎ her a job as an assistant. Even though she had no college degree, he asked her to become a researcher. She lived with the chimpanzees for over thirty years and wrote down what they did. She published her research. Some people criticized her research. They said she should have given the chimpanzees numbers instead of names. After she left the jungle, she became interested in saving the environment. She opened the Jane Goodall Institute in 1977 to educate people about the environment. She has written many books and still travels around the world, helping children understand the natural world. In 2002, she opened a Jane Goodall Institute in Hong Kong‎, ‎China. Everywhere she goes, people ask her about her research on chimpanzees.‎
