But now a study has found it really does help people nod off-if it is milked from a cow at night. Researchers have discovered that" night milk" contains more melatonin(褪黑激素) which has been proven to help people feel sleepy and reduce anxiety. The study, by researchers from Seoul, South Korea, involved mice being fed with dried milk powder made from cows milked both during the day and at night. Those given night milk, which contained 10 times the amount of melatonin, were less active and less anxious than those fed with the milk collected during daytime, according to the study published in The Journal of Medicinal Food. Night milk quickened the start of sleep and caused the mice to sleep longer. While the effect of cows milk harvested at different time has not been tested on humans up to now, taking melatonin drugs has been suggested to those who are struggling to fall asleep at night. Early studies have also showed that milk can be excellent for helping sleep because of containing Ca., which helps people to relax. Milk is also sugar-free and additive-free(不含添加物的) with experts advising skimmed (脱 脂的) milk as the best choice before bed as it is the least fattening. The more fat you take in before bedtime, the greater burden you will put on your body at night. 21.Which of the following is true of melatonin according to the text? A. it's used in sleeping drugs. A. started sleep more easily B. were less active C. were more anxious D. woke up lat 23.How does the author support the main idea of the text? A. By giving examples. B. By introducing reasons. C. By listing data. D. By offering research results. 24.What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Fat Sugar and Health B. Night Milk and Sleep C. An Experiment on Mice D. Milk Drinking and Health B My son Cameron who was 16 years old came up with this crazy idea to make his own survival show. Well I thought it was just another one of his “phases” but he began to sound more and more serious about it. He’s a big outdoors man and has always loved the idea of surviving in the woods by himself, but he has never done anything like this. Anyway, he somehow raised $4,000 for his idea. With the money he bought a nice camcorder(摄像机) ;that’s when I realized that he was really serious about this whole thing. Cameron organized the trip all by himself. I just put out a few rules that he had to follow and rented a satellite phone so that he could contact us on his journey. My son traveled nearly 50 miles, while surviving for four days and three nights alone in the wilderness. He had no food or water, only his knife, and a camera. The journey was difficult as he traveled through valleys, up and down big waterfalls, all while he was filming his entire journey. The wilderness we dropped him off in was a wild forest that is made up of untouched land; he found his way to the beautiful lake where we picked him up. In the end he made the most amazing movie that I have ever seen in all my life. My son’s courage should be recognized. That is why I am trying my hardest to get him seen by the rest of the world. Cameron recently turned 17. He already has plans for his next adventure and I have no hope in stopping him from completing it. This next summer he plans on surviving for two or three weeks on a desert island in Fiji or Tonga. No teenage kid has ever done anything close to what my son Cameron has done. 25.As for his son’s idea of survival show, the author _____. A. supported it at the beginning B. realized it was fun and possible C. had thought it would not come true D. had thought his son was serious 26.Where were Cameron’s parents waiting for his son? A. At the beautiful lake. B. At the large waterfall. C. On the untouched land. D. At the end of the forest. 27.What will impress the world in the author’s opinion? A. The great bravery of Cameron. B. The plan Cameron has made. C. The photos Cameron has taken. D. The scenery Cameron has described. C Everyone takes drugs. Sometimes a drug might be called a herb but the effect is the same. Drugs and herbs can make life better for they are used to improve health. From the simplest headache to a cure for cancer, people believe that certain drugs can help them. But there is danger if the drugs are not used in a proper way. American teenagers sometimes use certain drugs to feel good. They call this “getting high”. The problem is that once a young man or a young woman has the feeling of “getting high”, they want to do it often. If school is boring or too hard, students might get depressed and a drug or herb might help them feel better. If the student takes too much of a drug, the body may change in a wrong way such as a confused mind, poor sight, a headache, and an uncomfortable stomach. Schools now have D.A.R.E.program which means Drug Abuse Resistance Education. This program was started so that young students from age 10 to 18 might understand how a drug affects their bodies. The main point of the program is education. Once a student understands certain drugs can cause ill health,he will know he should not use them. Education is the key to good nutrition as well. If a student eats correctly. he or she will be full of energy which leads to good study habits and good grades. Poor nutrition may cause the need for more sleep and poor concentration. Proper food is similar to the proper use of drugs. Both allow a healthy body to grow while misuse of them prevents a person from developing normally. 28.What does the underlined phrase “getting high” mean? A. flying a lot B. feeling good C. getting excited D. falling asleep 29.The author tends to tell us that _____________. A. drug abuse is a popular phenomenon B. drug is actually a common medicine C. good eating habit may help students keep from drugs D. teenagers always need to seek for excitement 30.The main aim of D.A.R.E.program is to__________. A. manage and control drugs B. explain to teenagers what drug is C. stop teenagers taking drugs D. help teenagers know about the harm of drugs 31.Which of the following can be the best title? A. What’s more, they will be able to learn how to solve problems on their own. However, people may also choose to work in a team, where they can learn from each other and help each other. Besides, they may work out better ways to get work done by discussion. Personally, working in a team is better, which offers me a chance to learn how to get along with others and to share my experience with them. As the work can be divided among several people, it can be done efficiently. Teamwork is always important.查看更多
