A.conflict B.taboo C.barrier D.delay 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】 考查名词辨析。 C。 2.With his teacher behind his back, he still kept his eyes _______ on the screen. A.fixed B.fixing C.to fix D.being fixed 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】 考查非谓语作宾补。 fix…on… A。 3.It’s quite unlikely that anyone lacking adequate patience and love will _______ a teacher. A.turn B.make C.get D.grow 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】 考查动词辨析。 B, 4.-You came second in the running race. Congratulations! -Thanks. But practising more, I _______ a different result. A.might get B.may get C.may have got D.might have got 【答案】D 【解析】 【详解】 考查虚拟语气。 D。 5.To find the missing boy as soon as possible, they were reminded to turn to the Internet ______ dialing 110. A.in place of B.in addition to C.in response to D.in regard to 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】 考查短语辨析。 in place of代替;in addition to除…之外;in response to对…做出反应;in regard to关于。 之外,可知要用“in addition to”,故选B。 6.The newly built earthquake-resistant houses in Xinjiang have resisted more than 30 earthquakes _______ 5.0 magnitude or above in the past seven years. A.measuring B.measured C.to measure D.to be measured 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】 考查非谓语。 A。 7.For sake of safety, never believe any message from an unknown number until it has been _______. A.reformed B.confirmed C.transformed D.informed 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】 考查动词词义辨析。 B。 8.-Can I speak to Mr. Johnson at 4 o’clock this afternoon? -I’m afraid not. He _______ to the conference by then. A.has gone B.is going C.will have gone D.would have gone 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】 考查将来完成时。 分析选项可知,A. has gone表示现在完成时;B. is going表将来时;C. will have gone将来完成时;D. would have gone过去将来完成时。 C。 9.I am struggling to polish up my English now. If only I _______ hard in senior one! A.study B.studied C.had studied D.should study 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】 考查虚拟语气。 【点睛】 if only “要是…… 1. If only+从句(had done) 与过去事实相反: If only I had taken her advice!(take) (事实是:我没有听从) If only she had not left !(not leave)如果她没走就好了!(事实是:她已经走了) 2 .If only+从句(would/could/might+do) 表示与将来事实相反: If only she would go with me tomorrow! 3.If only+从句(did/were) 表示与现在事实相反: If only I were a bird. C。 10.He felt confident that he had passed the test, only _______ that he failed it. A.telling B.told C.to be told D.to tell 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】 考查动词不定式表示意料之外的结果。 He went out of the room with few clothes on, only feeling rather cold. I arrived at the shop only to find I'd left all my money at home. He lifted a rock only to drop it on his own feet. I arrived at the shop only to find I'd left all my money at home. His opposition served only to strengthen our resolve. 11.The well-known master of crosstalk is willing to _______ new foreign students if they can speak Putonghua fluently and have an interest in Chinese culture. Think about who you’re texting Whether you’re in a group text with your parents, schoolmates, or work friends, consider what you’re sharing - and who you’re sharing it with. Parents may not be interested in the latest memes and explaining their slight differences can be a pain. Be mindful of people’s schedules While not everyone’s schedules are the same, most people are busy during typical work week hours, so sending a million mid-day texts isn’t always ideal. Some people rise early or get to bed early. Avoid including them on a text that you know will ask for a bunch of responses super late at night or early in the morning. Name the group If you have the ability to name the texting or messaging group you’re on - this is possible on an iPhone or when using Facebook Messenger - I strongly recommend you do so. Though not everyone will love the name you choose, naming your group will help you keep track of all your ongoing conversations. Don't write lots of one-word texts Please, if you must text in the group thread, don’t deliver multiple short answers in a row. Everyone will despise you. If you have something pressing to share or say, try to sum it up in one brief text. If you have a lot to say, maybe try writing an email. Damn I seriously don’t have time to be on my phone when I’m at work, and my friends keep texting on the group chat and I’m at a loss. - Melzz (@_Melzzxx) November 17, 2018 34.The passage is intended to _______. A.offer some suggestions on how to text appropriately in a group B.explain why every one should text appropriately in a group C.try to persuade the readers to text appropriately in a group D.state the importance of texting appropriately in a group 35.Which subtitle better matches the e-mail at the bottom of the passage? A.Think about who you’re texting. B.Be mindful of people’s schedules. C.Name the group. D.Don't write lots of one-word texts. A 35. 根据文章第一段的we’ve put together a list of strategies and things to consider when messaging multiple people at the same time,以及四个副标题的祈使句格式,便可得出本文是针对如何群发信息提出建议的,分析选项可知答案是A。 35. 根据最后一段的邮件内容“Damn I seriously don’t have time to be on my phone when I’m at work”可知,有时我忙的没时间来处理这些信息和电话。以及第二个副标题“Be mindful of people’s schedules” 部分的第一句话”“While not everyone’s schedules are the same, most people are busy during typical work week hours ”,此处是指“人们很忙,发信息不是一件好事(会打扰到别人)。 根据最后一段的邮件内容“Damn I seriously don’t have time to be on my phone when I’m at work”可知,有时我忙的没时间来处理这些信息和电话。以及第二个副标题“Be mindful of people’s schedules” 部分的第一句话”“While not everyone’s schedules are the same, most people are busy during typical work week hours”,此处是指“人们很忙,发信息不是一件好事(会打扰到别人)。 There are a couple different things that make ramen noodles an unhealthy choice. There’s not much to these provision packets besides salt and carbohydrates. While those certainly get thrown around quite a bit as “bad-for-you” comments, you may not know how they actually harm your body. Firstly, there’s the fact that most instant ramen servings contain over 1100 milligrams of sodium-that’s approaching half of the maximum you should eat per day. When you take in that much sodium in a single sitting, your body overcompensates by holding more water. This can cause temporary water weight gain, leaving you feeling bloated(肿胀)and lacking in energy. But while you may feel bloated, chances are you won’t feel full. Since the ramen contains lots of refined carbohydrates with virtually no protein or fiber, it’s essentially the very definition of empty calories. And you’ve probably heard the song-and-dance about refined carbs; eating too much can lead your blood sugar to increase and then decrease, leaving you hungry and ready to eat again-which leads to weight gain. And, perhaps most upsetting of all, this quick-and-easy meal may stay with you much longer than you realize. Massachusetts General Hospital’s Dr. Braden Kuo used a pill-sized camera to record the digestive tracts of volunteers who ate processed ramen noodles as well as fresh ones. With a video, Dr. Kuo was able to show that, after two hours when the fresh noodles were long gone, the ramen noodles were still there in the intestines. Doctors do know that years of eating the instant packets are linked to poor health. Another study, this one by the Harvard School of Public Health, assessed the long-term consequences of ramen consumption in South Korea, where it’s a major course. They found that subjects, women in particular, who ate instant noodles at least twice a week had a 68 percent higher risk of diabetes and heart disease-than subjects who ate a more consistently natural diet. In short, eating ramen once in a while won’t damage your health-as is true with most processed foods. But it’s not something you should make a habit of-for your stomach and heart’s sake. 36.What, according to paragraph 1, specifically contribute to the body harm in ramen? A.salt B.carbohydrates C.sodium D.water 37.Which of the following is NOT the harm of ramen to people? A.resulting in short-term water weight gain B.much longer digesting process in intestines C.higher risk of diabetes and heart disease D.much addition to salt and carbohydrates 38.What does the writer intend to do when writing this passage? A.To remind people of the harm done to our health. B.To analyze where the harm of ramen lies in detail. C.To warn people never to form a ramen-eating habit. D.To urge people to think twice before eating ramen. C 37. D 38. When you take in that much sodium in a single sitting, your body overcompensates by holding more water. If there was an easy way of decreasing the number and severity of these injuries, that would be great. For this very reason, the practice of taping and bracing ankles was introduced decades ago. How, then, do taped or braced ankles decrease the incidence and severity of sprains in athletes? One explanation for how it works comes from a study which found that taped athletes had improved proprioception(本体感受), which is the body’s ability to know how fast the ankle and foot are moving and if they are starting to roll over or not. When they were compared, the athletes with taped ankles had better proprioception both before and after exercise compared with athletes using no tape. The tape’s traction(拉力)or pressure on the skin of the foot and ankle helped improve sensitivity and proprioception, resulting in fewer ankle sprains. Another common concern often expressed by the public is that lengthened practice of taping or bracing ankles results in weak ankles that then tend to get injured more easily; this would be a strong case against taping or bracing ankles. However, a scientific study looked at the effects of consistent ankle brace use on the peroneus longus muscle. It is an important stabilizer(稳定装置)of the ankle, particularly against inversion, the most common type of ankle injury. This study showed that the peroneus longus muscle’s ability to do its job was not changed by the long-term wearing of an ankle brace. Many studies have been completed to compare taping ankles and bracing ankles to try to determine which one is better. Most have shown that braces are slightly more effective than tape, but that both are better than no support at all. One study found that simply wearing high-top sneakers instead of low-tops prevented some ankle injuries and that high-tops plus tape had more than 50% fewer injuries than low-tops plus tape. So whether it’s on the field or on the court, the tape or brace is an important piece of athletic equipment just like your helmet or mouth guard. All of the animals unite in a group and, in panic mode, move together as a unit. The term also applies to human behaviour, and it usually describes large numbers of people acting the same way at the same time. When herd behaviour sets in, an individual person’s judgement and opinion-forming process shut down as he or she automatically follows the group’s behavior. For example, suppose that a family is walking down the street looking for a restaurant to have dinner. If they pass a restaurant that is empty and one that is relatively crowded with customers, they are far more likely to choose the crowded one. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Possible version one: Originally coming from the behavior of animals in herds, “herd behavior” also applies to the humans who tend to act the same way as the majority of others. (30 words) I’m in favor of this behavior when we make choices. Firstly, the choices made by the majority of people are very likely to be reasonable. In this case, herd behavior may help us make safe decisions. Secondly, if we make the same choice as the majority, it will greatly reduce the risk of making wrong choices. Finally, as a saying goes, two heads are better than one. With herd behavior, we can benefit a lot from a group of people’s wisdom. There is no doubt that herd behavior sometimes does damage to our personality and creativity. Therefore, its advantages and disadvantages are often closely related. It is necessary to hold an objective attitude towards herd behavior. Possible version two: Herd behavior, originating from the behavior of animals in herds, is also used to describe the phenomenon that a lot of people like making the same choice as the majority. (30 words) There is no denying that herd behaviour is likely to bring convenience to making our choices, but it has negative effects on our personal judgement and creativity. As we all know, the advances of the modern world are anchored in our personalized ideas. The diversity in our world lies in opinions varying from person to person. Thus, blindly following others’ choices is anything but a wise decision. Besides, people with herd behavior tend to miss a great number of opportunities to make new discoveries. If they always follow others’ choices instead of making their own choices, they are bound to live a boring and rigid life. To conclude, I recommend that people should get rid of herd behavior. When herd behaviour sets in, an individual person’s judgement and opinion-forming process shut down as he or she automatically follows the group’s behavior. 如状语从句比如particularly when they are in danger situation. The term also applies to human behaviour, and it usually describes large numbers of people acting the same way at the same time. If they pass a restaurant that is empty and one that is relatively crowded with customers, they are far more likely to choose the crowded one.也有非谓语作状语如looking for a restaurant to have dinner. 此外,文章还使用了大量习语和短语,如be crowded with; stick to sth.; shut down ,be likely to 等。
