2019届高三英语全真模拟猜题卷(七)+Word版含解析

‎2019届高考英语全真模拟猜题卷(七)‎ ‎1、    There are a number of special days of the year that are celebrated in different countries. The origins of most of the days are unknown. They were certainly not created by individual people. Other days, however, especially those celebrated in Western countries, often owe their origins to a particular person. One of the most popular of these, even though it is fairly recent, is Mother's Day. Mothers have always been highly regarded in all cultures. The ancient Romans had a festival known as Hilario, during which children took presents to the temple of the “Mother of the Gods”. The Christian Church adopted this idea and called it Mothering Sunday. However, over the years this custom was gradually forgotten and almost disappeared by the end of the 19th century.‎ ‎    Born in 1864 in Virginia, USA, Anna Jarvis was a school teacher and believed children should show gratitude to their mothers for all their love and care. Encouraged by a friend, she wrote to thousands of important people —politicians, churchmen, doctors, city officials—and asked them to support her idea: a special day of the year for thanking mothers.‎ ‎    In 1910 the Governor of West Virginia introduced Mother's Day into the state. The date chosen was May 10—the second Sunday in May, which is still observed in America today. This date was chosen because May 10 was the date on which in 1908 Anna Jarvis's mother died. In 1914 President Woodrow Wilson made May 10 the official date for Mother's Day throughout the United States.‎ ‎    Soon there was a Mother s Day International Association and the custom began to be adopted in many countries of the world.‎ ‎    Anna Jarvis, a sad and disillusioned(失望的) woman, died in 1948. The custom she had worked so hard to establish and which had become almost universal had lost its original purpose. It had been taken over by business. As with Christmas, the giving of presents and the sending of cards had become a multi-million-dollar industry.‎ ‎1.The story is about _______.‎ A.Mothering Sunday for Christmas B.the origin of a special day for mothers C.President Woodrow Wilson and Anna Jarvis D.how people celebrate Mother’s Day ‎2.Anna Jarvis wanted to __________.‎ A.thank her mother for her care B.introduce a celebration for mothers C.meet thousands of important people D.make her pupils thank her on Mother’s Day ‎3.May 10 became the date for Mother s Day because _________.‎ A.May is spring in the America B.it was the second Sunday in May in 1910‎ C.President Woodrow Wilson liked the date D.this was the date when Anna Jarvis's mother died ‎4.Unfortunately, Anna Jarvis was NOT happy with Mother’s Day when she died because _____________.‎ A.her mother was not there to see it B.she had never been a mother herself C.people were too interested in making it a business D.no one gave any presents or cards to their mothers ‎2、The meaning of silence varies among cultural groups. Silences may be thoughtful, or they may be empty when a person has nothing to say. A silence in a conversation may also show    ‎ stubbornness, uneasiness, or worry. Silence may be viewed by some cultural groups as extremely uncomfortable; therefore attempts may be made to fill every gap(间隙) with conversation. Persons in other cultural groups value silence and view it as necessary for understanding a person’s needs.‎ Many Native Americans value silence and feel it is a basic part of communicating among people, just as some traditional Chinese and Thai persons do. Therefore, when a person from  one of these cultures is speaking and suddenly stops, what may be implied is that the person wants the listener to consider what has been said before continuing. In these cultures, silence is a call for reflection.‎ Other cultures may use silence in other ways, particularly when dealing with conflicts among people or in relationships of people with different amounts of power. For example, Russian, French, and Spanish persons may use silence to show agreement between parties about the topic under discussion. However, Mexicans may use silence when instructions are given by a person in authority rather than be rude to that person by arguing with him or her. In still another use, persons in Asian cultures may view silence as a sign of respect, particularly to an elder or a person in authority.‎ Nurses and other care-givers need to be aware of the possible meanings of silence when they come across the personal anxiety their patients may be experiencing. Nurses should recognize their own personal and cultural construction of silence so that a patient’s silence is not interrupted too early or allowed to go on unnecessarily. A nurse who understands the healing(治愈) value of silence can use this understanding to assist in the care of patients from their own and from other cultures.‎ ‎1.What does the author say about silence in conversations?‎ A.It implies anger.‎ B.It promotes friendship.‎ C.It is culture-specific.‎ D.It is content-based.‎ ‎2.Which of the following people might regard silence as a call for careful thought?‎ A.The Chinese.‎ B.The French.‎ C.The Mexicans.‎ D.The Russians.‎ ‎3.What does the author advise nurses to do about silence?‎ A.Let it continue as the patient pleases.‎ B.Break it while treating patients.‎ C.Evaluate its harm to patients.‎ D.Make use of its healing effects.‎ ‎4.What may be the best title for the text?‎ A.Sound and Silence B.What It Means to Be Silent C.Silence to Native Americans D.Speech Is Silver; Silence Is Gold ‎3、    Overweight seems to be a national trouble. Diets» books on dieting, dieting organizations, and advice from doctors and health professionals do not seem to be enough. Millions of people have turned to dangerous drugs or harmful diets to starve off their hunger.‎ ‎    The meat industry and the fast-food restaurants have more to do with America s weight problem than anything else. Each day we are filled with powerful TV and radio ads promoting(推介) the idea that it’s perfectly OK to have bacon and eggs for breakfast, hamburgers and French fries for lunch, and fried chicken and French fries for supper.‎ ‎    Is there a healthy diet that people can use to lose weight and keep themselves slim and fit forever? There is indeed. But it requires removal of meat, fish, and milk products from the diet forever.‎ ‎    A healthy diet-and-exercise regimen(养生之道) is actually pretty simple. That is to cut meat, fish, and milk products out of the picture completely (and I do mean completely).‎ ‎    • Do not eat any meat, fish, eggs,or milk products. No cheese,no ice cream,no pizza, and no butter.‎ ‎    • Eat only low-fat, and low-sugar foods. Eat fruit (in reasonable amounts) for desserts.‎ ‎    • As much as possible, avoid drinks with caffeine, such as coffee, tea,or cola.‎ ‎    • Use soya drinks instead of milk. Soya drinks are high in protein and generally fairly low in fat.‎ ‎    • Eat cereals, grains, bread, and pasta in reasonable amounts (with no cheese, but always with high-protein foods).‎ ‎    • Jog or fast-walk at least one mile per day. If you are unused to this level of exercise, start with smaller distances and build up to a mile.‎ ‎    It has been known for years that it is possible to get all the protein we need from high-protein vegetarian foods. Many restaurants now serve vegetable-protein meals, such as veggie-burgers or refried bean tacos and burritos; be sure to ask for them without cheese or sour cream!‎ ‎1.The underlined words “starve off their hunger” in the first paragraph most probably mean ______.‎ A.satisfy their need of losing weight B.slow down the feeling of hunger C.make themselves feel hungry D.wish for being slim ‎2.The meat industry and the fast-food restaurants have more to do with America s weight problem because ________.‎ A.they convince people to eat more food rich in fat B.they make powerful ads on TV and over radio C.they fill people with the idea to have bacon and eggs D.they make people take dangerous drugs or harmful diets ‎3.To keep slim and fit,the author thinks it’s better ________.‎ A.to change the picture of meat, fish, eggs,or milk products B.not to eat any meat, fish, eggs,or milk products C.to eat cereals, grains, bread, and pasta as much as possible D.not to take soya drinks high in protein ‎4.From the passage, we can infer that ______.‎ A.it’s healthy to jog or fast-walk at least one mile every day B.high-protein vegetarian foods don’t have all protein we need C.proper foods play a very important role in keeping healthy D.it's inappropriate to ask for veggie-burgers without cheese or sour cream ‎4、    In the coming months, we are bringing together artists form all over the globe,to enjoy speaking Shakespeare’s plays in their own language,in our Globe, within the architecture Shakespeare wrote for. Please come and join us.‎ ‎    National Theatre of China Beijing|Chinese ‎    This great occasion(盛会) will be the National Theatre of China’s first visit to the UK.The company’s productions show the new face of 21st century Chinese theatre. This production of Shakespeare’s Richard Ⅲ will be directed by the National’s Associate Director,Wang Xiaoying.‎ ‎    Date&Time:Saturday 28 April, 2.30pm & Sunday 29 April, 1.30pm & 6.30pm ‎    Marjanishvili Theatre Tbilisi | Georgian ‎    One of the most famous theatres in Georgia, the Marjanishvili, founded in 1928,appears regularly at theatre festivals all over the world. This new production of It is helmed(指导)by the company’s Artistic Director Levan Tsuladze.‎ ‎    Date&Time:Friday 18 May, 2.30pm & Saturday 19 May, 7.30pm ‎    Deafinitely Theatre London | British Sign Language (BSL)‎ ‎    By translating the rich and humourous text of Love’s Labour’s Lost into the physical language of BSL,Deafinitely Theatre creates a new interpretation of Shakespeare’s comedy and aims to build a bridge between deaf and hearing worlds by performing to both groups as one audience.‎ ‎    Date&Time:Tuesday 22 May, 2.30pm & Wednesday 23 May, 7.30pm ‎    Habima National Theatre Tel Aviv | Hebrew ‎    The Habima is the centre of Hebrew-language theatre worldwide,Founded in Moscow after the 1905 revolution, the company eventually settled in Tel Aviv in the late 1920s,Since 1958,they have been recognised as the national theatre of Israel. This production of Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice marks their first visit to the UK.‎ ‎    Date&Time:Monday 28 May, 7.30 & Tuesday 29 May, 7.30pm ‎1.Which play will be performed by the National Theatre of China?‎ A.Richard Ⅲ B.Lover’s Labour’s Lost C.As You Like It D.The Merchant of Venice ‎2.What is special about Deafinitely Theatre?‎ A.It has two groups of actors B.It is the leading theatre in London C.It performs plays in BSL D.It is good at producing comedies ‎3.When can you see a play in Hebrew?‎ A.On Saturday 28 April B.On Sunday 29 April C.On Tuesday 22 May D.On Tuesday 29 May ‎5、根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填人空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ ‎    Teenage brains in the digital world ‎    When it comes to technology, adults won't be able to keep up with their children.
