It’s someone who wins when no one expects it.‎ Han Xiaopeng took China’s first gold on snow. He became an Olympic “dark horse” by winning the gold medal in men’s freestyle aerial skiing(自由式滑雪空中技巧) at Turin in Italy. He made two almost perfect jumps for the highest score. Han had never won a world gold medal before, let alone(更不用说) in the Olympics!‎ ‎“I never thought this would happen,” said the 23-year-old. “I feel like I’m in a dream.” It’s China’s second gold medal at the Turin Olympics. But more important, Han’s gold was the country’s first ever in a snow sport. In 2002, China’s Yang Yang won the gold for speed skating at the winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, US.‎ That Han’s win was unexpected doesn’t mean that he didn’t work hard.‎ Han grew up in Jiangsu Province. Before he started his training on snow, he used to be an acrobat(杂技演员) at a circus. In 1995, a coach found his talent(才能). The coach, Yang Er’qi, said Han had the agility(灵活性) and courage to be a ski jumper. When Yang first took the 12-year-old to northern China, the boy couldn’t swim, skate or ski. But he wasn’t afraid of the high platform(跳台) and kept on training.‎ Han almost left the sport after hurting his knee months before the Salt Lake Games. In that Olympics he only got 24th. “I was hopeless at that time, but my family and the coach stood firmly(坚强地) behind me, helping me through,” he recalled.‎ ‎ Han Xiaopeng worked so hard that he won the gold medal in the Olympics at last. Because of his success, more and more people in China are becoming interested in skiing. We are proud of him and we hope he will have another big success in the next winter Olympics.‎ ‎24. He had enough courage though he was only 12 years old.‎ B. He was born in the south of China and liked sports on snow.‎ C. He had the agility and wasn’t afraid of the high platform.‎ D. He had the talent and he had won a world gold medal before.‎ ‎27. What is the best title for this passage?‎ A. A Wonderful Match B. A Dark Horse at the Winter Olympics C. A Hopeful Snow Game D. An Exciting Skiing Race C Having friends may well keep you healthier and help you deal with stress better. Some studies show that people with close friends have a greater ability to fight disease than people who are alone.‎ ‎ Place friendship in the first place. Find the time to be with friends even if it means letting the lawn(草坪) go unmowed(未割的) or the dishes unwashed for a while. When you can’t get together, use the phone to keep in touch.‎ ‎ Open up to close friends. Keeping a deep friendship requires a level of “heartfelt” intimacy (亲密).Don’t be afraid to express your inner fears and disappointments. Listen to your friends when they have problems, but offer advice only when it’s wanted. Help raise friends’ self-esteem(自尊) when they are sad about a job loss, or other such events.‎ ‎ Have different friends for different activities, such as going to the movies, singing in a choir,‎ and joining in a bowling league.‎ ‎ Don’t wait for a friend to ask for helps. When a friend has the flu, offer to go to the store or drive his or her children to their afterschool activities.‎ ‎ Never take a friendship for granted. Like a good marriage, friendship needs care and patience. Become a joiner. Find a group that matches your interests.‎ ‎ Talk to strangers. Conversations started in museums, laundry rooms,or bookstores can lead to firm friendship.‎ ‎ Enroll in an adult education course. A classroom is an ideal place to meet others with similar interests.‎ ‎28. People who are alone have a ability to fight disease than people with close friends.‎ ‎ A. more B. greater C. poorer D. little ‎29. According to the passage, when had you better offer advice to your friends?‎ ‎ A. At any moment. B. Only when they are happy. ‎ C. Only when they want it. D. Only when you are glad.‎ ‎30. What does the underlined word “Enroll” in the last paragraph mean?‎ A. Give B. Join C. Get D. Catch ‎ ‎31. Which of the statements is TRUE according to the passage?‎ ‎ A. You should have different friends for the same activities.‎ ‎ B. You should wait for a friend to ask a favor.‎ ‎ C. You should take a friendship for granted.‎ D. You should talk with strangers in museums, laundry rooms, or bookstores in order to improve friendship.‎ D Everybody hates rats (big mice). But in the earthquake capitals of the world — Japan, Los Angeles, Turkey — rats will soon be man’s best friends.‎ What happens after an earthquake? We send in rescue dogs. Why? Because they can smell people. Dogs save lives. They help rescuers to find living people. But dogs are big and they can’t get into small spaces. So now a new research project is using a smaller animal to save lives: the rat.‎ How does it work? First, the rat is trained to smell people. When this happens, the rat’s brain gives a signal (信号).This is sent to a small radio on its back, and then the rescuers follow the radio signals. When the rat’s brain activity jumps, the rescuers know that someone is alive. The rat has smelled that person.‎ Although there are already robots which can do this job, rats are better. Christian Linster at Cornell University, New York, says, “Robots’ noses don’t work well when there are other smells around. Rats are good at that.” Rats can also see in the dark. They are cheaper and quicker to train ‎ than dogs, and unlike robots, they don't need electricity!‎ The “rat project” is not finished, but Julie Ryan of International Rescue Organization in Scotland says, “It would be wonderful. A rat could get into spaces we couldn’t get to, and a rat would get out if it wasn't safe.” Perhaps for the first time in history, people will be happy to see a rat in a building (but only after an earthquake, of course).‎ ‎32. Why will rats become man’s best friends in the world earthquake capitals?‎ A. Because they can take the place of man's rescue jobs B. Because they can find the position of people alive who are trapped in buildings C. Because they can serve as food for people alive who are trapped in buildings D. Because they can get into small spaces ‎33. From the third paragraph we know the rescuers can judge a person who is alive by _____.‎ A. the noise made by the rat B. the rat’s unusual behaviour C. the signal sent by the radio on the rat's back D. the smell given off by the person ‎34. Which of these statements is NOT the advantage that rats have?‎ A. They are more lovely than other animals. B. They are less expensive to train than dogs. ‎ C. They don't need electricity. D. They are small and can get into small places.‎ ‎35. What can we infer from the passage?‎ A. At present rats have taken the place of dogs in searching for people.‎ B. The “rat project” has been completed.‎ C. People are now happy to see a rat in a building.‎ D. Now people still use dogs and robots in performing rescues.‎ 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ ‎ Five Steps to Better Handwriting Some kids love handwriting, but others hate when it’s time to put their pen to paper. Maybe they are worried about their handwriting. Are you one of them? 36 Here are five steps that really work!‎ Get a great grasp Try this—hold your pencil at the top and try to write your name. Pretty hard? But when you hold your pencil the correct way, writing is much easier. 37 Hold it in place with your thumb, and your index(食指) and middle fingers.‎ Let the lines be your guide Lined paper is your friend! Those lines can help you create letters that are the right size and proportion(均衡). 38 Also be sure to fill up the lined space completely. Those capital letters should be from the bottom line to the top one.‎ Slow down If your writing is hard to read, try slowing down a little. If you rush, it’s hard to control where you stop and start your letters.‎ Lower the pressure ‎ 39 That makes it harder to make the smooth lines. Try easing up and don’t hold the pencil too tightly.‎ ‎ 40 ‎ Lots of games require you to write or draw pictures. So even though it’s not schoolwork, you’re still using the skills you need to control your pen better.‎ A. Play games.‎ B. Ask for more advice.‎ C. You’ve been writing since you were a little kid.‎ D. So “a” should be half the height of a capital “A”.‎ E. Some kids press down really hard when they write. ‎ F. The good news is that just about everyone can improve their handwriting.‎ G. I am writing to give you some suggestions on how to learn it well. ‎ First, you can go to Chinatown because a lot of Chinese people live and work there. Talking with Chinese shopkeepers provides you with good opportunities to practice your spoken Chinese.‎ Second, you can make friends with Chinese people, especially those from Beijing who can speak standard Chinese. Your Chinese will be greatly improved if you keep communicating with them, such as having parties and going camping with them. ‎ Finally, you can also learn Chinese by listening to Chinese radio programs and watching Chinese movies, which can help you learn about Chinese culture as well as improve your Chinese.‎ Yours,‎ Li Hua 听力原文:‎ Text 1‎ M: I have no idea whether they will come to the party or not.‎ W: Don’t worry.
