The house in which I used to live has become a shoe shop. Have you ever read the book The Three Musketeers, which was written by Alexandre Dumas? This is the person whose story surprised everybody. The classroom whose door is broken can hold 40 students. =The classroom the door of which is broken can hold 40 students. =The classroom of which the door is broken can hold 40 students. ①This is one of the books which were written by Charles Dickens. ②He is the only one of the boys in our class who has learned French. ③He said he was a Frenchman, which was not true. This is the factory which we visited last Sunday.(visited后不可加it) 这就是我们上星期天参观过的工厂。 3. 1.The attacker________was lunching now becomes lunch. 2.The girl________ I met is Lucy. 3.The child ________ parents are dead is called Tom. 4.I like the book________ you bought yesterday. 5.The prize will go to the writer________ story shows the most imagination. 6.The book________ I bought yesterday is on English grammar. 7.The exact year________ Angela and her family spent together in China was 2008. 8.The old town has narrow streets and small houses______ are built close to each other. 9.You'll find taxis waiting at the bus station______ you can hire to reach your host family. 10.The book tells stories of the earthquake through the eyes of those________ lives were affected. 答案:1.who 2.who/whom/that 3.whose 4.that/which/不填 5.whose 6.that/which/不填 7.which/that/不填 8.that/which 9.which/that/不填 10.whose Ⅱ. 1.She was not on the train______________________________. 2.I once lived in the house______________________________. 3.This is the teacher________________________. 4.The man________________________has been arrested. 5.Do you know the things and persons_______________? 6.People________________________ can appeal. 1.which arrived just now 2.whose root has fallen down 3.(whom) we have talked about 4.who stole your car 5.that they're talking about 6.whose rents have been raised Ⅲ. In 1947,Henry,1.______ was a well-known adventurer, set out from South America with five 2.______(companion)to cross the Pacific Ocean. The journey was unusual in which they used a raft 3.________(make)of balsa wood. The balsa wood,4.________is very light and strong, was held together with 5.________(rope).When the base of the raft was ready,Henry built a shelter in 6.________they could sleep and shelter from the sun, wind and rain. The sail,7.________was made of local 8.________(material) only found in South America, had the figure of the Aztec sun god painted on it.The journey 9.________(take)three months and it has become one of the most famous exploits 10.________ man undertook in the 20th century. 答案:1.who 2.companions 3.made 4.which 5.ropes 6.which 7.which 8.materials 9.took 10.that A terrible storm hit/stuck... What happens after an earthquake? We send in rescue dogs. Why?Because they can smell people.Dogs save lives. They help rescuers to find living people. But dogs are big and they can't get into small spaces. So now a new research project is using a smaller animal to save live:the rat. How does it work?First, the rat is trained to smell people. When this happens, the rat's brain gives a signal(信号).This is sent to a small radio on its back, and then the rescuers follow the radio signals. When the rat's brain activity jumps, the rescuers know that someone is alive. The rat has smelled that person.Although there are already robots which can do this job, rats are better.Christian Linster at Cornell University,New York, says,“Robots' noses don't work well when there are other smells around.Rats are good at that.”Rats can also see in the dark. They are cheaper and quicker to train than dogs, and unlike robots, they don't need electricity! The “rat project” is not finished, but Julie Ryan of International Rescue Corps in Scotland says,“It would be fantastic.A rat could get into spaces we couldn't get to,and a rat would get out if it wasn't safe.”Perhaps for the first time in history, people will be happy to see a rat in a building (but only after an earthquake,of course). 5.In the world earthquake capitals, rats will become man's best friends because they can________. Grace lost her tail as a baby when she got caught up in a fish trap. When the dolphin arrived at the Ocean Park in December 2005,she was fighting for her life.“Is she going to make it?”Her trainer,Abbey Stone, feared the worst.Grace did make it—but her tail didn't.She ended up losing her flukes and the lower part of her peduncle. Over the past six years, she has learned to swim without her tail.Dolphins swim by moving their flukes and peduncle up and down.Grace taught herself to move another way—like a fish! She pushes herself forward through the water by moving her peduncle from side to side. The movements put harmful pressure on Grace's backbone. So a company offered to create a man-made tail for her.The tail had to be strong enough to stay on Grace as she swam but soft enough that it wouldn't hurt her. The first time Grace wore the artificial tail, she soon shook it off and let it sink to the bottom of the pool. Now,she is still learning to use the tail. Some days she wears it for an hour at a time, others not at all.“The new tail isn't necessary for her to feel comfortable,”says Stone,“but it helps to keep that range of motion(动作)and build muscles(肌肉).” Now,the dolphin is about to get an even happier ending. This month,Grace will star in Dolphin Tale,a film that focuses on her rescue and recovery. Her progress has inspired more than just a new movie. Many people travel from near and far to meet her.Seeing Grace swim with her man-made tail gives people so much courage. 9.When Grace first arrived at the Ocean Park, her trainer worried about her________.
