I perform underwater repairs on offshore drilling equipment.‎ My office lies at the bottom of the sea. I wear a suit to the office. It’s a wet suit.‎ This time of year the water is quite cool. So what we do to keep warm is this: We have a diesel-powered industrial water heater. This equipment sucks the water out of the sea, heating it to a delightful temperature. It then pumps it down to the diver through a garden tube, which is tied to the air tube.‎ I’ve used it several times with no complaints. What I do when I get to the bottom and start working is take the tube and stuff it down the back of my wet suit. This floods my whole suit with warm water. It’s fantastic because it’s like working in a bathtub.‎ Last week, I had a bad day at the office. When I started working, everything was going well until all of a sudden, my bottom started to itch(痒). So, of course, I scratched it. This, of course, only made things worse. Within a few seconds,my bottom started to feel a burning sensation. I pulled the tube out from my back, thinking that maybe the water was too hot, but the damage was done.‎ In severe pain, I realized what had happened. The hot water machine had sucked up a jellyfish(水母)‎ and pumped it directly into my suit. When I had scratched what I thought was an itch, I was actually touching the jellyfish, and its poisonous tentacles(触角)stung me on the crack of my bottom.‎ I immediately informed the dive supervisor of my problem over the communicator. His instructions were unclear due to the fact that he and five other divers were all laughing loudly. 35 minutes later, I arrived at the surface. I was wearing nothing but my helmet. And my bottom was swollen.‎ ‎24.What did the author think of the water heater before the incident?‎ A.It was useless. B.It was dangerous.‎ C.It was satisfying. D.It needed to be improved.‎ ‎25.What actually caused the author’s discomfort while working?‎ A.A jellyfish. B.A bathtub.‎ C.The hot water. D.The wet suit.‎ ‎26.How did the author probably feel after he went ashore?‎ A.Excited. B.Delighted. C.Calm. D.Embarrassed.‎ ‎27.What is the best title for the text?‎ A.My Daily Work B.A Bad Day at Work C.The Hardships of My Job D.An Office under Water C Crossing your legs is an extremely common habit; most people don't even notice that they're doing it when they sit down. While you may find it comfortable to sit with one knee crossed over the other, it might be causing health problems that you are not aware of.‎ A study published in Blood Pressure Monitoring stated that sitting with your legs crossed can increase your blood pressure. The reason for this is that the blood in your legs has to work against gravity to be pumped back to your heart and that crossing one leg over the other increases resistance(阻力), making it even harder for the blood to circulate. This causes your body to increase your blood pressure to push the blood back to the heart. You won't feel any immediate effects, but repeated, drawn-out increases in blood pressure can cause long-term health problems. So, planning to sit for a long period of time? Don't keep your legs crossed.‎ Crossing your legs at the knee can also cause pressure on the major nerve in your leg that passes just below your knee and along the outside of your leg, explains Richard Graves, a medical expert. This pressure ‎ can cause numbness and temporary paralysis (麻痹) of some of the muscles in your foot and leg, preventing you from being able to raise your ankle—what we know as that “pins and needles” sensation. While the feeling of discomfort may only last a minute or two, repeatedly crossing your legs until they feel numb can cause permanent nerve damage.‎ So next time you sit down, try to get yourself in the habit of sitting with both of your feet on the floor. Not only will it help your posture and stability, but it will also save your health in the long run.‎ ‎28.What can we learn about crossing one's legs?‎ A.It is a very bad social habit. B.It is usually practiced on purpose.‎ C.It can do harm to people's health. D.It can make others feel uncomfortable.‎ ‎29.According to the study, sitting with your legs crossed can______.‎ A.affect your blood pressure B.resist gravity effectively C.lead to heart attacks easily D.improve the function of legs ‎30.In the third paragraph "pins and needles" probably means______.‎ A.slight sharp pains B.being a little nervous C.serious muscle injuries D.being highly flexible 第二节 七选五(共 5 小题,每小题 2 分,满分 10 分)‎ Whether you' re a child, teenager, young adult or are middle-aged, respect for your parents is an important value. Sometimes, traveling is the best form of education, as students can get a number of personal and educational benefits from travel. From learning about other cultures first-hand to seeing where historical events took place with their own eyes, educational travel gives students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of art, science, history, and culture in many ways.‎ Educational becomes a whole new experience when students can see lots of tools and equipment for themselves by traveling to different places. The tools and equipment could be used by scientists decades or even centuries ago to make discoveries that make our modern world possible. Educational travel brings the materials off the pages and into reality, allowing students to connect themselves with them in a more meaningful way.‎ No matter where students go, it’s almost guaranteed that they’ll find some kind of food that is unique to that place or done better than anywhere else. If someone gets Chicago-style pizza in Chicago, they’re going to have a different tasting experience than they would if they were getting the same type of thing in, say, Texas. At the same time, getting chili in Texas would be a whole different experience from getting chili in New York or Chicago. Students can learn a lot about a culture by what they eat on a daily basis and what they consider a special meal, so it’s good to take a taste of the local food and learn through all of the senses.‎ Being away from family, home, and familiar ground is a courageous and independent adventure in its own right. Educational travel provides that opportunity to allow students to open their minds regarding how ‎ they choose to live life, which can be extraordinarily helpful in preparing students for college and adulthood. Traveling – with the combined social skills and perspectives(视角) it teaches – really allows students to better understand how they can operate on their own.‎ 第二节 书面表达(满分10分)‎ 假如你是高中生李华, 你从报纸上得到一则某社区招募employ暑期照顾老人的志愿者的广告。 ‎ Dear Sir or Madam, ‎ ‎ I have read your advertisement on the newspaper and _________________________‎ ‎__________________________________________________________________________‎ ‎__________________________________________________________________________ I am looking forward to hearing from you. ‎ ‎ Yours sincerely, ‎ ‎ Li Hua ‎2020学年永安三中高三上9月月考开学考英语试卷参考答案 一、听力(30分)1-5 BCACB 6-10 ACCBA 11-15 ABCAB 16-20 BACAB 二、阅读(30分)21-23 ACB 24-27 CADB 28-30 CAA 七选五 31-35FCGAD 三、完形(30分):36-55 ACABD,CCDBA,DBDCA,BABCD 四、语法填空 (每空1.5分,共15分)‎ ‎56. an  57.against 58. images 59.to lead 60. making 61. dangerous 62. whose 63. confidence 64. has been displayed 65. clearly 五、完成句子(每空0.5,共10分)‎ ‎66.more than 67. be persuaded 68. judge by/from 69. at, end ‎ ‎70. getting along 71.recovered from 72. is based 73. make, use 74. Let me explain a little about it. As you may know already, it’s a required meeting once a week. I expect you to do all the experiments and keep the results in your lab notebook. I’ll collect the notebooks every two weeks. You’ll be graded on lab notebooks and quizzes. But the most important information I want to give you now is about safety. First of all, you must wear shoes that cover your feet in the lab. Tennis shoes are OK. Also, don’t wear loose clothes, long scarves, big necklaces, or loose belts — they get caught in something or fall into liquid. Another thing to do for safety is cleaning up. Be sure to put the waste in the correct containers. We can’t mix liquid with paper. This is extremely important. I don’t want any fires in this room. You are responsible for washing out your own lab equipment and putting it away. If you don’t do this, I will take away points from your grade. Nobody’s going to clean up after you. OK, any questions?‎
