It may be got from your father or your father’s father, and it can just impress people around you with the fact that you are a person of culture. From my point of view, reading is very important in our daily life. For example, reading is a way of gaining knowledge in different areas. It can help us have a great imagination, and it makes things easier when it comes to making compositions on different themes. It gives you the possibility to speak about science, even if you don’t work in this field. You can express your opinions about a political event because you have read something about that. Secondly, reading gives us the possibility to enter the world of imagination. We can imagine what life will be like in the future. Sometimes, we compare ourselves with the people in the stories we read and they can give us some clues to solve the problems and tell us what to do in certain situations. Books are based on real life. Even if writers are considered to be somehow different from common people, they often face the same problems as we all do. In short, I would like to say that literature is the perfect way of enriching our culture, expressing correctly, having a rich vocabulary, being able to understand different fields and really being considered to be a learned person. 21.Which of the following is NOT mentioned in the text? A.Reading a lot is good for writing B.Reading can help us gain knowledge C.Reading can help us have a great imagination D.Reading helps us enter the field of politics easily 22.We can learn from the third paragraph that ____ . A.people in stories are always unbelievable B.books may help us solve problems C.writers are good at dealing with problems in life D.writers often have different experiences in life 23.What can be the best title for the text? A.Why Is Reading Important in Our Life B.How Can We Become a Learned Person C.Different Reading, Different Functions[来源:学科网ZXXK] D.Having a Good Collection of Books Means a Lot B One of the greatest sources of unhappiness, in my experience, is the difficulty we have in accepting things as they are. When we see something we don't like, we wish it could be different. We cry out for something better. That may be human nature, or perhaps it’s something ingrained(根深蒂固的) in our culture. The root of the unhappiness isn't necessarily that we want things to be different. However, it's that we decided we didn't like it in the first place. We've judged it as bad, rather than saying, “It's not bad or good, and it just is it. ” In one of my books, I said “You should expect people to mess up and expect things to go differently than you planned”. Some readers said it’s too sorrowful to expect things to go wrong. However, it's only negative if you see it as negative and judge it as bad. Instead, you could accept it as the way the world works and try to understand why that is. This can be applied to whatever you do: how other people act at work, how politics works and how depressing the news media can be. Accept these things as they are, and try to understand why they're that way. It will save you a lot of sadness, because you'll no longer say, “Oh. I wish bad things didn't happen!” Does it mean you can never change things? Not at all. But change things not because you can't accept things as they are, but because you enjoy the process of changing, learning and growing. Can we make this world a better place? You can say that you’ll continue to try to do things to help others, to grow as a person, to make a difference in this world. That's the correct path you choose to take, because you enjoy that path. Therefore, when you find yourself judging and wishing for difference, try a different approach:accept, and understand. It might lead to some interesting results.[来源:学科网ZXXK] 24.The author believes that we feel unhappy maybe because ___________. C The results from the world’s largest sleep study have shown that people who sleep on average between 7 to 8 hours per night perform better cognitively (认知地) than those who sleep less or more than this amount. The world’s largest sleep study was launched in June 2018 and within days more than 40,000 people from the world participated in the online scientific investigation, which included an in-depth questionnaire and a series of cognitive performance activities. “We really wanted to capture the sleeping habits of people around the entire globe. Obviously, there have been many smaller sleep studies of people in laboratories but we wanted to find out what sleep is like in the real world,” says Adrian Owen, western’s researcher in Cognitive Neuroscience and Imaging. “People who logged in gave us a lot of information about themselves. We had a fairly extensive questionnaire and they told us things like which medications they were on, where they were in the world and what kind of education they’d received because these are all factors that might have contributed to some of the results.” More than half of all participants reported typically sleeping less than 6.3 hours per night, about an hour less than the study’s recommended amount. One shocking truth was that most participants who slept four hours or less performed as if they were almost nine years older. Another surprising discovery was that sleep affected all adults equally. The amount of sleep associated with highly functional cognitive behavior was the same for everyone, regardless of age. Also, the harm associated with too little, or too much sleep did not depend on the age of the participants. “We found that the best amount of sleep to keep your brain performing its best is 7 to 8 hours every night. We also found that people that slept more than that amount were equally harmed as those who slept too little,” says Conor Wild, Owen Lab Research Associate and the study’s lead author. 28.Where did the study take place? A.In a lab. B.In the street. C.On TV. D.On the Internet. 29.What may affect the result of the study according to Owen? A.Career. B.Diet. C.Education. D.Exercise. 30.What’s Wild’s view? A.Sleeping too much is as bad as sleeping too little. B.People must sleep for eight hours every night. C.Sleeping too little can make people look older. D.People needn’t pay attention to the amount of sleep. 31.What can we learn from the text? A.Owen and Wild are the first to study sleep. B.Lack of enough sleep is a common problem. C.All the people in the world show interest in the study. D.There is no effective way to solve the sleep problem. D Schools across the world are trying to come up with solutions to keep students active. Some are replacing traditional classroom chairs with exercise balls or standing desks. At Ward Elementary School in Winston, North Carolina students have adopted a new program that requires riding fixed bikes while reading. ‘Read and Ride5 is the creation of school counselor Scott Ertl, who came up with the idea while he was exercising and reading at the gym. Believing it would be a fun way to convince students to become more active, he placed one in the comer of his classroom and encouraged them to use it during independent reading classes. It was so popular that Ertl decided to add more bikes and offer the Read and Ride program to the entire school. Today Ward Elementary has a dedicated exercise room filled with bikes that can be used by students while completing their daily reading assignments. Besides making reading more fun, the program also helps students exercise at a comfortable pace without the pressure that comes with regular sports-related activities. It is also a perfect way to release energy during days when the weather is not helpful to outdoor activities. Most importantly, however, are the program’s academic benefits. A year after Read and Ride was introduced at Ward Elementary School, students actively involved in the program demonstrated an astonishing 83% reading proficiency. Those that had not taken advantage of the exercise bikes tested at a much lower, 41%. Though the substantial improvement in academic achievement cannot all be attributed to programs like Read and Ride, experts believe they are a significant contributor. That’s because studies have shown that physical activity stimulates (刺激) brain cells and helps prepare it for learning. As word of the difference made by this easy to execute exercise program spreads, don’t be surprised to find schools across the country adopt “Read and Ride” for their students. 32.What is the new program at Ward Elementary School? A.Kids ride bikes as they read. B.Kids excise balls and read at the gym. C.Kids sit at desks for long while reading, D.Kids do outdoor activities during lessons. 33.How do the students at Ward Elementary School benefit from the program? A.They exercise with high pressure. B.They feel reading fun and learn better. C.They improve their sense of competition. D.They are instructed to read at the same pace. 34.What can we learn from the last paragraph? A.The program will be more and more popular. B.Schools doubt whether the program is available. C.Physical activities prevent kids from learning more. D.The school achievement depends wholly on the program.[来源:Zxxk.Com] 35.What would be the best title of the passage? A.Standing desks help school kids focus on their studies. B.Traditional teaching should be banned in the near future. C.‘Read And Ride’ aims to make students healthier and smarter. D.Kids need to release energy during independent reading classes. 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Over time, habits of negative thinking about ourselves can lower self-esteem (自尊). So if you want to feel better about yourself, try some of these things: 36. Are you so used to focusing on your problems that they’re all you see? Next time you find yourself trapped in problems or disappointment with yourself or your day, find something positive to deal with it. Each day, write down three good things about yourself, or three things that went smoothly that day because of your action or effort. Aim for effort rather than perfection. Some people get held back by their own pressure to be perfect. They lose out because they don’t try. Usually, you may think, “I won’t audition (试镜) for the play because I probably won’t get the lead.”37. Remind yourself that everyone is good at different things.38. Thinking more like this: “She’s a great basketball player — but the truth is, I’m a better musician than athlete. Still, I’ll keep playing because I enjoy it.” It helps you accept yourself and make the best of the situation. 39. Don’t be afraid to voice them. If someone disagrees, it’s not a judgment on your worth or your intelligence. That person just sees things differently from you. Set goals.40. Then make a plan for how to do it. Stick with your plan, and keep track of your progress. A.Focus on what goes well for you. B.Take pride in your opinions and ideas. C.Think about what you’d like to achieve. D.It’s certain that the role will go to someone else. E. Recognize what you can change and what you can’t. F. Train your inner voice to remind you of what you are accomplishing. G. Cheer on others for their success and keep in mind what you do well. 第三部分 语言知识运用(共两节,满分45分) 第一节 (共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 True leadership is not just the ability to identify the talent and skill of the polished individuals around you. Some students prefer to consider majors first so that they can learn what they are interested in.It will also make it possible for them to take their favorite jobs in the future. However, those who think differently believe that the environment is important to one’s development and that graduates from leading universities are often more likely to find a good job. In my opinion, the best choice is a good major at a good university. If we cannot obtain both, the first thing to consider is a good major, because no matter where we study, we can still achieve a lot in a certain field if we try our best.查看更多
