B When I was a boy there were no smart phones, and our television only got one channel clearly. Still, I never felt bored. The fields, hills and woodlands around my home were the perfect playground whose adventures were only limited by my imagination. I can remember once hiking to a nearby lake and walking slowly around it. At the back of it I was amazed to find an old dirt road that I had never seen before. It was full of muddy tyre tracks and deep woods on both sides, but exploring it still seemed like a fine adventure. I walked on and on for what seemed like hours. I was sure my guardian angel was whispering in my ear “turn around and head back home”, but I was stubborn and walked on. There was still neither a car nor a house in sight. I noticed that the sun was starting to go down and I grew scared. I didn’t want to end up trapped on this road, and I was worried that it would be dark before I could make my way back to the lake again. I continued to walk on with something growing inside of me. My heart was pounding and my legs were aching. I was almost in tears when I saw something in the distance. It was a house that I recognized. I jumped up and down and laughed out loud. It was still over a mile away, but my legs felt like feathers and I hurried back to my house in no time. I walked in with a big smile on my face just in time for dinner. Then I ended my adventure with a good night’s sleep. I often thought of that experience recently. Actually, in our life, all roads, no matter how they twist and turn, can lead us home again. They can lead us to our homes here on the earth. They can lead us to our homes in our hearts. May you always walk your path with love! May you always help your fellow travelers along the way! And may your roads always lead you home again ! 21. Why did the author hardly feel bored when he was young? A. He could watch TV all day. B. He was wild about adventure. C. He often imagined playing freely. D. He used to explore the old dirt road. 22. What can we know about the dirt road? A. It was a road across the forest. B. It was the only way to the lake. C. There was no traffic on it. D. He had explored it for many times. 21. What does the underlined word “something” in Paragraph 3 probably refer to? A. Doubt. B. Creativity. B. C. Curiosity. D. Hope. 22. What may be the best title for the passage? A. Every Effort Is Worthwhile B. All Roads Lead Home C. Be Determined in Your Life D. Be Brave to Adventure C The death of languages is not a new phenomenon. Languages usually have a relatively short life span as well as a very high death rate. Only a few, including Egyptian, Chinese, Greek, Latin, have lasted more than 2,000 years. What is new, however, is the speed at which they are dying out. Europe’s colonial conquests caused a sharp decrease in linguistic diversity(语言多样性), getting rid of at least 15 percent of all languages spoken at the time. Over the last 300 years, Europe has lost a dozen, and Australia has only 20 left of the 250 spoken at the end of the 18th century. The rise of nation-states has also been decisive in selecting and strengthening national languages and sidelining (使退出) others. By making great efforts to establish an official language in education, the media and the civil service, national governments have tried to remove minority languages on purpose. This process of linguistic standardization has been boosted by industrialization and scientific progress, which have imposed(推行)new methods of communication that are quick, straightforward and practical. Linguistic diversity came to be seen as an obstacle(障碍)to trade and the spread of knowledge. Monolingualism(单一语言)became an ideal. More recently, the internationalization of financial markets, the spread of information by electronic media and other ways of globalization have strengthen the threat to “small” languages. A language not on the Internet is a language that “no longer exists” in the modern world. It is out of the game. The serious effects of the death of languages are evident. First of all, it is possible that if we all ended up speaking the same language, our brains would lose some of their natural ability of linguistic creativity. We would never be able to figure out the beginnings of human language or resolve the mystery of “the first language”. As each language dies, a chapter of human history closes. Multilingualism(多语制)is the most accurate reflection of multiculturalism. The destruction of the first will unavoidably lead to the loss of the second. Imposing a language without any links to a people’s culture and way of life stifles the expression of their collective genius. A language is not only used for the main tool of human communication. It also expresses the world vision of those who speak it, their ways of using knowledge. To safeguard languages is an urgent (紧急的) matter. 21. Which of the following does NOT result in the death of languages? A. Colonial conquests of Europe B. The rise of nation-states C. Advances in science and industrialization D. The increase of human population 22. The underlined word ‘stifles’ in the last paragraph probably means _________. A. promotes B. kills C. quickens D. fuels 23. The serious effects of the death of languages include all EXCEPT that_______. A. People would fail to understand how languages began B. Monolingualism would lead to the loss of multiculturalism C. Linguistic diversity would become an obstacle to globalization D. Human brains would become less creative linguistically 24. What is the author’s purpose of writing this passage? A. To explain the reasons why languages are dying out. B. To attract people’s attention of the urgency of language preservation. A. To warn people of the negative ways of globalization. B. To argue how important it is for people to speak more languages. 第二节 阅读七选五 (共5题;每题2分,满分10分) 请根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Having a Healthy Mindset(心态) Build a positive body image. It can be hard to have a positive body image when we are flooded with pictures of very thin actresses and models. But there are ways you can learn to feel good about yourself, no matter your shape. 31 . Avoid negativity. 32 . It’s fine to want to make changes, but try to give yourself encouragement, rather than tearing yourself down. For example, instead of feeling bad about eating a bag of cookies, say to yourself, "I guess now I have extra motivation to do 20 extra sit-ups tomorrow!" Focus on how you feel. Body image is all about how you feel about how you look. So try to focus on positive feelings. Focus on the good things your body does for you, like give you the energy to play with your dog. 33 , you will also feel more fit and beautiful. Don’t compare yourself to others. By the age of 19, Steve was a star baseball player at the University of Minnesota. I wanted to be exactly like him. So when Steve asked me to go with him on a spring fishing trip in northern Minnesota, I was excited! After planning the trip, we gathered clothes and supplies, and began our great adventure. We reached the Superior National Forest in northern Minnesota by early evening. On our way to the campsite, Steve pointed to a small house faraway in one of the mountains, saying that it was the ranger station (护林站) where the forester worked. Finally, after a long walk, we reached the campsite and set up the camp as the sun was setting. Steve knew all the tricks of an experienced wilderness camper. After we gathered enough wood from the forest, he started the campfire using only stone and steel — no matches. For supper we feasted on freeze-dried beef, wild rice and pea soup. I ate greedily after all that work. Tired enough, we climbed into our sleeping bags early and talked about our plans for fishing the next day. We were still talking quietly when a sudden north wind picked up; the temperature dropped and it began to snow. Steve found a way to increase the temperature inside the tent. He dragged a log from the forest to the opposite side of the campfire. Then he wrapped aluminum foil (铝箔) around the log. The heat from the fire reflected off the foil and into the tent. Soon images of lake fish were filling my dreams. The snow had stopped, but sometime later a powerful wind must have kicked up the flames of our dying fire. I was suddenly awakened by Steve. Our tent was on fire. Frightened, I ran out of the tent immediately. The tent collapsed (倒塌) with Steve inside. Without any thought of endangering myself, I reached into the burning tent and pulled him to the icy lake. Fortunately, we were not seriously hurt. Paragraph 1: Later, as we stood by the burning tent to keep warm, we considered our difficult situation._____________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Suddenly, we heard a noise in the forest. ______________________________ _______________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________ 英语试题参考答案 第I卷(共三部分,满分110分) 第一部分 听力 1 -5 CBAAB 6 - 10 AABBB 11 -15 ABBAC 16 - 20 AACCC 第二部分 阅读理解 21-30 CA BADB DBCB 31-35 FDAGB 第三部分 35-45 CAABB ADCDC 46-55 BCADA CBADB 第二节短文填空 (共10空;每空1分,满分10分) 56-65 longer, are made, on, it, amazing, to carry, extremely, other, cases, picking 第八部分 书面表达 (满分40分) 第一节第二节应用义写作(满分15分) One possible version : Dear Sir or Madam, My name is Li Hua, a student of' Class One Grade One. Our campsite was in the deep of the forest, really far away from the highway. We were in the middle of nowhere, wearing only underwear, with our supplies burnt into ashes, including our cellphones. Even Steve was unsure what to do next. The only thing we could do was just sit in the cold air and wonder how to get out of the forest. Paragraph 2: Suddenly, we heard a noise in the forest. Anxiously we listened and stared into the darkness. A jeep appeared. A forester had spotted the light from the fire and had come to have a check. We jumped into the warm vehicle and the forester drove us to the ranger station, where we were given clothes and were able to call our parents. Steve and I had many more camping adventures from then on, but it was on this trip that Steve began to treat me more like a friend rather than a younger cousin. Our friendship continues to this day.查看更多
