B Based on new analysis, we are rapidly approaching major climate change and the effects on society and the environment could be quite severe. Geographers predict that within the next eighty years, current world climate zones could shift and some could completely disappear. Polar regions will get colder while tropical regions will get even hotter, forcing animals to migrate (迁徙) north. Climate changes like these could lead to the spread of diseases. Tropical storms and hurricanes will not only increase but may also become more intense. If the changes come too quickly, animal and plant species may not be able to adapt fast enough and could disappear. According to Science Daily, a new study predicts that by the year 2100, many of today's familiar climates will be replaced by climates unknown in today's world. It is urgent that we reduce the risks of these farreaching consequences for the whole world. The planet itself has been showing signs of change. In 2004, a serious tsunami created by a major earthquake killed thousands in Sumatra and in 2008, thousands died in China because of another severe earthquake. Egypt was hit in 2009 with a major earthquake and Haiti was devastated in 2010 by yet another massive earthquake. Within just the last few months, new reports from around the world have been coming in and most agree that our climate situation is much worse than previously thought. At this point, it doesn't matter what is causing it, but rather, what can be done about it. What's more, our world is getting more and more unstable every year. There is war and threat of war everywhere. Natural disasters are becoming more frequent and serious. However, other planets are experiencing global warming as well as our own and some scientists believe there may be some connection between this. No one knows anything for sure at this point because there is simply not enough data. 54. Which of the following would be the best title for the passage ? A. Ways to protect our planet B. Solutions to climate change C. Be prepared for climate change D. Climate change and its effects 55. What is the author's purpose in using the examples of earthquakes? A. To show the damage earthquakes caused. B. To remind people to prevent future earthquakes. C. To show major changes are taking place on the planet. D. To tell us more earthquakes will happen in the future. 56. What does the underlined word “devastated” in Paragraph 3 mean? A. separated. B. destroyed. C. removed. D. affected. 57. What can be inferred from the passage? A. Animals and plants won't die out as long as climate changes slowly. B. There's enough data for us to predict the future of climate change. C. The world is getting more unstable because of animal migration. D. The earth is not the only planet that is experiencing climate change. C Two years ago, photographer Gen started his latest project visiting local communities in Latin America. The photo that gave birth to his “You are so beautiful” project was entirely unplanned. In January 2015, Gen was in San Cristobal de las Casas, Mexico. He had been trying to get his female subject to feel more comfortable before his camera, and when a request for her to smile didn’t quite work, he found himself telling her she was beautiful. The result of his shot was so sincere and heartwarming that he decided he had found the concept of his new project. Gen is still on his journey to capture the power of this compliment (赞美). The photos he’s already published on his website, however, show the unbelievable effect these simple words can have. When asked to have her photo taken, Mathilda from Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, said, “I don’t have any teeth. Please don’t make me laugh.” After being told she was beautiful, she didn’t seem to mind anymore. “She and I laughed a lot. It was a nice moment.” Gen said. Margarita was selling fruit on a street in Otavalo, Ecuador, when Gen approached her. She agreed to pose for a picture after the photographer bought some of her fruit, but still didn’t smile when he asked her to. Her smile was genuine, though, when she heard the compliment. Gen met Juliana in a village in northern Colombia where desert meets the Caribbean Sea. The region is extremely dry, with some months seeing almost no rain, and Juliana wore a mask to protect her face from the sun. She was selling handicrafts when Gen approached her, and smiled happily when she received the compliment. Mimba and baby Maya are from Brazil’s Marubo tribe. Mimba was shy, and it was only on the second visit to her home that the photographer finally got her permission to take her photo. She seemed to relax, though, when he paid her a compliment. 58. Where was the inspiration for Gen’s latest project from? A. His unplanned travel. B. Praise for his photos. C. A shooting experience. D. His love for photography. 59. Who did Gen meet twice? A. Mimba. B. Margarita. C. Mathilda. D. Juliana. 60. What do the examples convey? A. Gen thought highly of his subjects. B. Sincere praise makes successful shots. C. Complimenting applies to nearly all women. D. Women are nervous when having photos taken. 61. What is the author’s purpose in writing the text? A. To introduce the effect of photography. B. To provide some advice on complimenting. C. To share his experiences of complimenting. D. To show the amazing power of complimenting. D “Regardless of social class, race and age, men say they hate to shop,” says Zukin, City University of New York sociology professor. “Yet when you ask them deeper questions, it turns out that they like to shop. Men generally like to shop for books, music and hardware. But if you ask them about the shopping they do for books or music, they'll say, ‘Well, that's not shopping. That's research.’” In other words, what men and women call “buying things” and how they approach that task are different. Women will wander through several 1,000squaremetre stores in search of the perfect party dress. Men will wander through 100 Internet sites in search of the perfect digital camcorder. Women see shopping as a social event. Men see it as a special task or a game to be won. “Men are frequently shopping to win,” says Ann, a marketing professor at Loyola University of Chicago. “They want to get the best deal. They want to get the best and latest one and if they do that, it makes them happy. When women shop, they're doing it in a way that they want everybody to be very happy,” says Ann. “They're kind of shopping for love.” “Teenage girls learn to shop from their mums and elder sisters, and they also learn to shop by examining articles in magazines like Seventeen,” Zukin says. “And although men's magazines such as GQ and Esquire have long had shopping articles, it's TV that has the eye of young male shoppers,” say Ann and Zukin. “Television shows are used by young men in the same way Seventeen or Lucky is used by girls,” says Zukin, “to help make clothing and toiletry choices.” “Of course, there are men who love to shop and are proud of it,” Ann says. And that is important no matter whether you buy a car or a frying pan. All men love to buy but don't want to get cheated. Ann adds, “There actually are men who are interested, for example, in cooking or shopping or chinaware or things around the home—they become kind of girl magnets. Women like it.” 62. From the first paragraph we can find that . A. men like to shop in fact B. men are all dishonest C. men hate to shop actually D. men are all booklovers 63. Compared to women, men usually treat shopping . A. honestly B. frequently C. seriously D. foolishly 64. As is shown in this passage, teenage girls go shopping . A. only with their sisters B. often following magazines C. only with their mums D. often following TV shows 65. The underlined word “magnets” in the last paragraph means “ ”. A. vegetables that make women beautiful B. magazines that attract young women C. persons that have a powerful attraction D. tools that can help housewives much 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 One of the areas of our body which conveys most about how we feel is how we move our hands and arms. 66 ,but most often they occur unconsciously and naturally. 67 . Give 六、书面表达(25分) Possible version: In many places, it ’s common for parents to drive their children to and from school, which causes a heated debate in society. Some people think driving children to and from school can save children’s time, so their children can get more sleep. Besides, it is comfortable and safe for children to go to school in a car. Also, the time of being together on the way enables parents to communicate with their children , which benefits their growth. However, others argue that it results in heavier traffic. And it will lay a burden on parents when they are busy. In addition, children may become more dependent on their parents, losing the ability of acting independently. In my opinion, schools should offer school buses for young children. For older children, it is up to them to choose whether to take a bus, ride a bike or go on foot. (127 words) 听力录音材料 Text 1 M: Mary, how are your Chinese lessons going? W: I’m learning very slowly. It’s more difficult than English. M: Well, do more practice. Rome wasn’t built in a day, right? Text 2 W: Derek, whose birthday party are we going to? M: Amy’s. She is my fellow worker Karl’s wife. I guess you’ve met them before. Text 3 M: Tina, where are you headed? W: Oh, hey Matt, I’m running to the bookstore to pick up a book I ordered. Want to come with me? M: Sure. Text 4 M: Excuse me. I just came in here to ask you to keep your voice down. My apartment is right next to this laundry room and you know how thin the walls are here. W: Oh, sorry. I’ll try to be quieter. Text 5 M: May I see your air ticket and passport? W: Yes, here you are. M: What is your purpose of visiting? W: Sightseeing. Text 6 W: I’m stressed out by holiday parties with lots of treats like cookies, candies, and chips! As if that wasn’t enough, I haven’t really been able to exercise and I think I’ve gained ten pounds recently. M: I’m sorry to hear that, but you are not alone. Many people gain weight. W: I think I should make my goal to lose fifty pounds! I could start by not eating sweets. M: That’s a good idea. You could also try to eat more natural foods. W: What do you mean by natural? I don’t want to eat vegetables only! I like to eat things with meat! M: Eating natural foods means you eat more fruits, vegetables, and unprocessed meats. W: Like what? M: Instead of eating hot dog, you might choose to eat a salad with some grilled chicken instead. W: Thanks for your advice, Paul! Text 7 W: Hello, welcome to The Daily Grind. What can I get for you? M: Good morning! I actually have no idea what I want to drink today! Any recommendations? W: Do you drink your coffee black? Or do you prefer to add cream, sugar, or milk to it? M: I definitely do not drink it black! The taste is so strong! W: Ok, well, then, do you like sweet coffee? M: I guess so. To be honest, I’m not much of a coffee drinker. I’ve always been more of a tea drinker, but lately my friends have all started going out for coffee and juice. I feel like a fool when it is time to order because I have no idea what to get! W: Coming right up! You can pick up your drink at the end of the bar. Have a great day! M: Thanks for your help! Where is your tip jar? W: Down at the end of the counter with the drinks. M: Great! Have a great day! Text 8 W: Jay, how were your New Year’s celebrations? M: I celebrated with my host family since I didn’t go home. It’s a long way from here to Beijing. W: Did you have a good time with your host family? M: Yeah, it was fun sharing our stories. What did you do to celebrate New Year’s? W: Each family is different, I think. But one of my family traditions is the Rose Bowl and the Rose Parade. M: Wait, what’s the Rose Bowl? And what’s the Rose Parade? W: Well, the Rose Bowl is an annual American college football game, usually played on January 1st. The Rose Parade is held on the same day, unless New Year falls on a Sunday. M: Then, anything fun? W: It includes flower-covered floats. There are also marching bands. It’s really cool! Text 9 M: How was your interview, Emily? W: It was pretty good. Two weeks ago, I had my phone interview with Teach for America, and then this weekend, I had the in-person interview. M: How was the in-person interview? I heard it’s really stressful. W: It was. It lasted all day. When we started we were in a group of ten people or so. We each had prepared a five-minute lesson, then we had to discuss a problem in a group and reach a solution, and finally we interviewed one-on-one. It was really a long day. M: Yeah, I can imagine! When do you hear back? W: They said three to four weeks, so it’s worth waiting. Have you started looking for jobs yet? Can you believe graduation is only a few months away? M: I’ve thought about it, but I get so anxious when I think about the future that I’ve stopped right now. I’m just going to focus on my studies for a bit longer. Once mid-term exams are over, I think I will start again. Text 10 Welcome to On the Town from BBC, I’m Neil. This is the program where we visit some of the most interesting places in London. Today we’re at the British Museum. Firstly, I’d like to brief you on the history of this world-famous museum. It was founded by King George II in 1753 to house the collection left by Sir Hans Sloane. It contains collections throughout time, across the globe. You can see Egyptian mummies, ancient Greek statues and even Terracotta Warriors borrowed from Xi’an Museum under one roof. Financed by the UK government, it is free to visit the permanent collection. You’ll need tickets to visit some rooms, though. As for recommendation, you can visit the great Reading Room, round in shape in the center of the museum. You might also see the Lewis Chessmen. It is a large group of chess pieces carved from whale bone. See the chess set in Room 40. And you can see the huge head of Egyptian pharaoh in Room 4 as well as the Easter Island Statue in Room 24. If you want to learn more, please go to our website. Hope you enjoyed this program and see you next time.查看更多
