This tool will help you do it. Just stick a SIM card in it, press it down like a stapler(订书机). A perfectly shaped smaller SIM is there. I’ve used it many times when swapping SIMs from one phone to another.‎ ‎ 03/7/17-- Mark Frauenfelder Profi Cheese Slicer Uses a thin wire to slice up to medium-hard cheeses in four inch sections.‎ ‎ I may own every cheese slicer ever made. I prefer a wire type cheese cutter so I can cut slices ‎ that work well on a piece of bread and sandwich.‎ ‎ This cheese slicer is great for both tasks. It even has adjustable tension on the two cutting wires. A point of information: I did break a wire cutting a very hard piece of cheese with black pepper. Good news, the wire is replaceable, and I was able to purchase new wires to fix it. Maybe best to use on softer cheeses. Lessons learned. But, highly recommended for every other use except for those extremely hard cheeses.‎ ‎ 03/6/17-- Kent Barnes Ash Bucket(桶子)‎ Bucket with lid keeps your fireplace(壁炉) clear of ashes.‎ ‎ I purchased this ash bucket recommended by my friend and have found it invaluable. Previously I had an old bucket that got left outside and usually filled up with rain and became a mess to clean. This ash bucket has a raised bottom and thermal insulation(隔热层) to prevent any accidental hot coals in your ash to damage your floor or cause a fire. You can store this bucket indoors since the lid is nice and tight. ‎ ‎ 03/3/17-- Seth Wilson ‎21. What can SIM Card Cutter do?‎ ‎ A. Cut up a SIM Card. B. Make a SIM card smaller shape.‎ ‎ C. Delete the information. D. Help store more information.‎ ‎22. What kind of food is Profi Cheese Slicer most suitable for?‎ ‎ A. Cheese slices with cracked black pepper. B. Very dry sandwich.‎ ‎ C. Extremely hard cheeses. D. Medium-soft cheeses.‎ ‎23. Which is one of the characters about the Ash Bucket?‎ ‎ A. It is fire resistant. B. It is waterproof.‎ ‎ C. It is useful outdoors. D. It is of no value.‎ B I wrote a business plan the other day. I gave it to my husband for suggestions. After reading it, he said, “I don’t think this is up to your usual standards.” I said, “I need more information. What doesn’t work?” He said he wasn’t sure. I then took the letter and reread it.‎ He asked, “How about if I look at it again and make notes between the space?” I agreed. A half hour later I looked at his notes and told him he didn’t understand the situation and what I really wanted to express. He shrugged (耸肩) and said OK. I took the letter and went back to my computer and again revised. As I was writing, I could see my letter improving based on his suggestions. When I finished, I proudly handed the letter back to my husband. He read it for the third time and said, “It’s still not right but I couldn’t exactly say.” I was a little annoyed and then told him I was the writer ‎ and I had seen some goofy letters he sent out. But I picked up my letter and went back to the computer.‎ After an hour of revisions, I went back to my husband apologetically with letter in hand. I told him I was sorry for what I’d said and asked if he would please read the letter again because I did value his contribution. Being a very patient and kind-hearted fellow, he once again read my letter and declared that it was fine.‎ This all leads me to the following: When you ask for advice on a project, be appreciative and grateful. Understand that the advice and suggestions you get may be negative. Understand that it may mean more work for you. And keep in mind that the final responsibility for the project is still yours. So be modest and thankful even if he or she has noted some problems.‎ ‎24.Why did the author give her business plan to her husband at first?‎ A. To show off her excellent work. B. But unlike the zoo’s other residents, they are not real animals. These creatures are actually huge sculptures and they’re made entirely out of plastic trash from the ocean.‎ These giant artworks, along with 14 others, are part of a traveling exhibit called “Washed ‎ Ashore: Art to Save the Sea”. The Washed Ashore project, led by artist Angela Haseltine Pozzi, works to raise awareness about the problem of plastic pollution in Earth’s oceans.‎ More than 315 billion pounds of plastic litter the world’s oceans today. Most of the plastic is garbage from towns and cities, as well as trash that people leave on beaches. rainwater, winds, and high tides bring the trash into the ocean or into rivers that lead to the ocean. Once it is under the waves, the plastic begins to break up into smaller and smaller pieces. It often collects in spots called garbage patches, which spread over large areas of the ocean.‎ Thousands of marine animals----including whales, sea turtles, and fish----die each year from eating or getting stuck in plastic bags and other items. Plastic pieces can also injure coral and kill sea grass.‎ Washed Ashore and other organizations are working to stop that from happening. Since 2010, Washed Ashore volunteers have collected 38,000 pounds of plastic trash from more than 3000 miles of beaches. They helped Pozzi create more than 60 sculptures of marine creatures that were harmed by plastic pollution.‎ The artworks on display at the National Zoo include a 20-foot-long coral reef, a 12-foot-long shark, and a 16-foot-long parrot fish. Each one is made from hundreds of pieces of trash like water bottles and sunglasses.‎ ‎“These sculptures are a powerful reminder of our personal role and global responsibility in preserving biodiversity on land and in the sea,” says Dennis Kelly, director of the National Zoo.‎ ‎28. Why is Angela exhibiting her sculptured animal?‎ ‎ A. To prove her talent in sculpture. B. To attract most visitors to the zoo.‎ ‎ C. To care about the plastic pollution in seas. D. To teach the people the use of plastic.‎ ‎29. What is stressed in Para. 3 according to the text?‎ ‎ A. Why plastic is difficult to break up. B. What problems plastic litter causes.‎ ‎ C. Where plastic pieces go at last. D. How garbage patches are formed.‎ ‎30. What are Washed Ashore volunteers doing?‎ ‎ A. Collecting pollution trash from the beaches. B. Turning trash from the ocean into art.‎ ‎ C. Raising 38,000 pounds for plastic pollution. D. Surveying the data of plastic litter in oceans.‎ ‎31. Which of the following best describe Dennis Kelly’s attitude to Pozzi’s sculpture?‎ ‎ A. Doubtful B. Supportive C. Negative. D. Indifferent ‎ D Children who spend more time outdoors may have a lower risk of becoming nearsighted, new research suggests.‎ In the study, researchers looked at about 1,900 schoolchildren. The scientists found that the kids who had been instructed to spend more time outdoors over three years were 23 percent less likely to develop nearsightedness during this time than those who had not been instructed to spend more time outdoors. Moreover, among the kids who did become nearsighted during the study, the degree to which their eyesight worsened was slightly smaller among those who spent more time outdoors.‎ The researchers selected six schools and required the children, whose average age was 7 at the start of the study, to attend one additional 60-minute class of outdoor activities during each school day for three years. The parents of these children were also encouraged to engage their children in outdoor activities after school, especially during weekends and holidays. The other half of the children, from another six schools, continued their usual activity patterns. After three years, 30.4 percent of the kids in the intervention(干预) group had become nearsighted, compared with 38.5 percent of the kids in the other group.‎ It is not clear exactly why spending more time outside would benefit children’s eyesight, the researchers said. However, some research has suggested that the higher levels of light intensity found outdoors may increase the release of the chemical dopamine(多巴胺) of the eye. In turn, dopamine is known to restrain (抑制) the type of growth in the eye that is associated with nearsightedness.‎ Based on the new results, the researchers recommend that children spend more time outdoors because of the potential benefits to their eyesight. However, it’s important to protect kids’ skin and eyes from UV light, which can be damaging.‎ ‎32. What did the children in the intervention group do during each school day?‎ ‎ A. Attend an extra class of outdoor activities. B. Continue to do their usual activities.‎ ‎ C. Spend one hour in doing eye exercises. D. Participate in outdoor activities with parents.‎ ‎33. What can be inferred about the chemical dopamine?‎ ‎ A. It can contribute to poor sight. B. It can damage people’s brain.‎ ‎ C. It is beneficial to eyesight. D. It means low levels of light intensity.‎ ‎34. What may be discussed in the following paragraph?‎ A. How to design outdoor activities for kids. ‎ B. How to prevent kids becoming nearsighted.‎ C. How to protect kids’ skin and eyes from UV light.‎ D. How to encourage kids to join in outdoor activities.‎ ‎35. Which can serve as the best title for the passage?‎ A. The More Time Outdoors, the Better ‎ B. Kids May See Better if They Play Outside C. It’s Time to Engage Kids in Outdoor Activities ‎ D. Researchers Found a Cure for Nearsightedness 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ How to Be Good at Sports If sports are something that interests you, it stands to reason that you would want to be good at them.
