I feel happy with them,” Murphy explained. “I take the mini-bus to work, greet the university guards(门卫) and come into my office. Then I go to the classroom buildings. Students are often waiting in the classroom when I arrive, and then we begin moving desks around and get ready to start class.”‎ ‎“I was originally encouraged to apply for the English Language Fellowship by David Bell, my teacher then,” she said. “I’m thankful that he encouraged and supported me throughout the application, interview and acceptance process.” Since Murphy came to Mekelle, she has kept in touch with three of her Western instructors: Gloria, Joanne and Carla. “They were important in my work. They continuously offered advice, and shared their experience with me,” said Murphy.‎ Although Murphy’s first 10-month Fellowship is to end this summer, she will continue to share her teaching in Ethiopia. She has accepted an offer for a second 10-month Fellowship in Ethiopia.‎ ‎“I immediately fell in love with Ethiopia. Everyone I met was unbelievably generous and wanted to make sure I felt safe and happy. Of course there was a period when I wasn’t used to my new life here. No one is free of life problems. Only a dead man faces no problem. As long as you are alive, challenges are everywhere. ‎ How do you face problems and challenges in your life? Problems and challenges are the building blocks of your personality. They make you who you are. Besides, whether what happened in your life builds or destructs you depends on how you look at it. If you take your problems as troubles, they will be troubles and may cause destruction. If you take them as constructive tools, you are going to be built up on them. ‎ Problems are everywhere. No one can avoid them. And they are good too. They open up a different look and opportunity if you are willing to see. When you face troubles, do not frustrate or freak out. Just cool yourself to think in a different direction. Think in a positive way. Every problem has its own good as well as bad sides. Focus on the good one. Look at the bright side.‎ Besides, there is always a good person, perhaps your mom or dad, or one of your friends, right beside you who can turn everything into your best if you are willing to turn to them. No matter what happens, they will be there to help you. Trust them and they will never let you down. All you need to know is that you are loved wherever you are. ‎ ‎28. What’s the meaning of the underlined phrase “freak out” in Paragraph 1?‎ A. Feel shy. B. Stay calm. C. Keep up. D. Feel upset.‎ ‎29. What can be the best title of the passage?‎ ‎ A. How to Avoid Problems B. Challenges Are Everywhere ‎ ‎ C. Face Your Challenges Bravely D. You Are Loved Wherever You Are D A new study has found that social media could be affecting the sleep of young adults.‎ The study is a project of researchers at the University of Pittsburghg’s School‎ of ‎Medicine. They found that young people who often use social media are more likely to suffer from sleep disorders than those who use social media less. The researchers say doctors should ask young adults about their use of social media when treating sleep issues.     “This is one of the first pieces of evidence that social media use really can influence your sleep.” said Jessica C Levenson. She was the lead author of a report on the study.     The researchers set out to examine the connection between social media use and sleep among young adults. Levenson noted that these young adults are possibly the first “generation to grow up with social media. ” The researchers wanted to find out how often young people used social media sites like Face book, Twitter, Credit and Tumbler. For the study, they gave questionnaires to nearly 1,800 adults, aged 19 to 32. On average, members of the study group used social media sites one hour a day. They also “visited various social media 30 times per week. ” Thirty percent of the study's participants reported having serious problems with sleeping. Those people who used social media a lot were three times more likely to have a sleep disorder.‎ ‎ And those who spent the most time on social media were two times as likely to suffer from sleep disturbances. Levenson said the number of times a person visits social media is a better predictor of sleep problems than overall time spent on social media. If this is true, she adds, then practices that stop such behaviors may be the most effective. 32. What’s the main idea of the text?    A. The researchers focus on social media.    B. The researchers manage to handle sleep problems.    C. Social media affects sleep.    D. Doctors treat young patients. 33. When treating sleep problems, doctors are advised to_______.    A. offer some advice about giving up social media     B. ask the patients about young adults’ use of social media    C. give young adults some medicine    D. ask about the patients' living conditions 34. How did the researchers mainly carry out the study?    A. By doing questionnaires. B. By doing online research.     C. By collecting published data.         D. By giving an example. 35. What can be inferred from the text?    A. Men are more likely to suffer from a sleep disorder than women.    B. People often using social media are less likely to have a sleep disorder.    C. Using computers less helps avoid sleep problems completely.    D. Sleep problems can be determined by the times of a person visiting social media.‎ 第一节 ‎ (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ How to Fight Back-To- School Anxiety August is the time to prepare for a new school. 36 These simple tips can help you or someone you love deal with the year ahead.‎ ‎ 37 Like any new activity, a new school year is always easier when you’re prepared for it.
