This can be anything from a simple fall into a swimming pool, or walking off the top of a tall building. It sounds like a job that you would have to be made to try, but there are actually lots of people who want to do it.‎ ‎ Sarah France, twenty-four, is one of Britain’s sixteen professional stunt women ---there are one hundred and sixty stunt men in the country. We asked Sarah how she came to be a stunt woman.‎ ‎ “When I was young I was trained to be a dancer, and for seven years after school I was hardly out of work. A dancer’s life is pretty short, though, and my father suggested I should think about doing stunt work after I’d given up dancing. I thought about it for the next two years and decided to have a go. For six months, I worked really hard every day. I had to learn different skills---swimming, jumping, horse -riding, etc.”‎ ‎ Sarah finished the course in just five months and applied to the office which decides whether you’re accepted as a professional stunt person or not. Two weeks after she was accepted, Sarah was throwing off the Great Wall of China in Superman IV.‎ ‎ “I was very lucky to get work so quickly. I had a small part, playing a traveler who fell off the Wall after an earthquake. The traveler’s life was saved by Superman,‎ ‎ of course! Actually, I fell forty-five feet into a pile of cardboard boxes! You can’t use anything softer than that or you will be brought back into view of the cinema. People tend to pay attention to the shoes they and others wear.”‎ Medical Daily notes that the number of detailed personality traits detected in the study include a person’s general age, their gender, income, political affiliation(派别), and other personality characteristics, including someone’s emotional ‎ stability.‎ Lead researcher Omri Gillath said the judgments were based on the style, cost, color and condition of someone’s shoes. In the study, 63 University of Kansas students looked at pictures showing 208 different pairs of shoes worn by the study’s participants. Volunteers in the study were photographed in their most commonly worn shoes, and then filled out a personality questionnaire.‎ So, what do your shoes say about your personality?‎ Some of the results were expected: People with higher incomes most commonly wore expensive shoes, and flashier footwear was typically worn by extroverts(外向者).However, some of the more specific results are interesting. For example, “practical and functional” shoes were generally worn by more “agreeable” people, while ankle boots were more closely aligned with “aggressive” personalities.‎ The strangest of all may be that those who wore “uncomfortable looking” shoes tend to have “calm” personalities. And if you have several pairs of new shoes or take exceptional care of them, you may suffer from “attachment anxiety”, spending a large amount of time worrying about what other people think of your appearance. There was even a political calculation in the mix with more liberal types wearing “shabbier and less expensive” shoes.‎ The researchers noted that some people will choose shoe styles to mask their actual personality traits, but researchers noted that volunteers were also likely to be unaware that their footwear choices were revealing deep insights into their personalities.‎ ‎28.We can infer from Paragraph 2 that___________.‎ A.shoes are vital to their wearers B.a practical purpose is to wear shoes C.people want to buy new shoes they pay attention to D.shoes may give away their wearers’ information ‎29.Which of the following is NOT true according to the text?‎ A.People with high incomes probably wear expensive shoes.‎ B.Ankle boots are closely aligned with “aggressive” personalities.‎ C.People wearing “uncomfortable looking” shoes tend to be calm D.People who wear practical and functional shoes may be hard to deal with ‎30.The underlined word “attachment anxiety”, probably means ___________.‎ A.Attached happiness to one’s personality.‎ B.Feeling always worried about everything.‎ C.Often feeling worried about his or her appearance.‎ D.Wasting an inordinate amount of time.‎ ‎31.Which might be the best title for the passage?‎ A.Bad Shoes, Bad Personality. B.People Are What They Wear.‎ C.How To Choose Suitable Shoes D.Shoes Reflect A Person’s Personalities.‎ D Planning to go to a gym? If you are one of those who spent many days planning to join a gym or to attend it regularly, then why not choose some home exercise? While you come back you must be in a starting position, feet together, hands at sides and knees bent.
