This question was raised after a group of penguins were saved from all icy gully( 峡 谷 )in Antarctica. It was filmed for the BBC wildlife series Dynasties. The film crew were anxious when they saw that a group of penguins had fallen into a gully and been trapped with their young. They built a slope(斜坡)so that a few of the penguins could save themselves. The case has taken the international media by storm . Viewers watching this film sighed in relief.“I'm so glad.I understand not taking action directly, but a helping hand isn’t bothering, right?”viewer Kathryn Shaw said on her Facebook. However , others think human interference( 干 涉 )is unnatural .“ You can ’ t have sunshine throughout your life.To have done anything else would only make matters worse”said the show’ s creator David Attenborough, according to The Times. In this case, however,Mike Gunton, the executive producer of the series, said that this was a one-off(非经常的)situation“There were no animals going to suffer by interfering. You weren’t touching the animals and it was just felt by doing this…They had the chance not to have to keep slipping down the slope.”he told the BBC. Such cases are familiar to Paul Nicklen, wildlife photographer for National Geographic. He told Metro,“If it's ever a predator(捕食者)situation,no matter how gut-wrenching,you stay out of the way.Even when you’re watching a male polar bear eat a baby bear.” “There’s no rule book in those situations. You can only respond to the facts that are right there in front of you.”Will Lawson, the show’s director, told Daily Mail. 24.What has led to a heated media discussion? Paul Waas, coach of the swim team, explains,“The discipline(自制力)comes into play when you’re talking about concentrating on the details that your coaches are saying as it makes you faster rather than going up and down the pool the same way you have every time. When you focus on what you’re doing right and what you can do better, then you’11 see the improvement.” Besides, there is also responsibility, goals and workings within a group.Again, here is Coach Waas.“It’s really great! It’s so fun to watch from year to year.I've had kids who as 7-year-olds on the team could barely pay attention in practice and were only interested in who was going first. Now they’ve come back as 8-year-olds,having set some goals and having things that they want to achieve. These skills can help them a lot.” But playing the sports is not without harm. Some can be hard on the body.Young athletes suffer serious injuries that follow them into adulthood.Coach Waas says that in fact, swimming is different from most others.First,it poses a lower risk of injury. The second one relates to how swim teams are structured.Actually, children are not the only ones who can benefit.Adults can also benefit from team sports. 28.Why do the swimmers gather at a swimming pool in the early morning? A.To obtain vitamin D from the sun. B.To build practical skills for future. C.To join in a large-scale competitive . D People who drink a lot of sugary drinks have a high risk of developing cancer , researchers announced last week.Howevet, the evidence cannot yet confirm a direct connection between the two.The researchers said the findings of a large study in France suggest that limiting the amount of sugar-sweetened drinks may help reduce the number of cancer cases.Drinking sugary drinks has become more common worldwide in the last several decades. Sugar drinks are linked to obesity—the condition of being extremely overweight—which increases a person’s cancer risk. The study was published in The BMJ British medical journal. It looked at data from just over 100, 000 French adults—21 percent of them men and 79 percent women. The researchers noted how many sugary drinks each of them had,and followed them for up to nine years—between 2009 and 2018.The researchers appraised their risk for all types of cancer, and some individual ones such as breast, colon and prostate cancers. The scientists found that a 100 milliliters increase in sugary drinks was linked to an 18 percent increased risk of overall cancer and a 22 percent increased risk of breast cancer. The researchers looked at those who drank fruity juices and those who drank other sweet drinks. Both groups, they found, showed a higher risk of cancer overall. For prostate and colorectal cancers,no link was found. The researchers said this might have been because there was only a limited number of cases of these cancers in the study group. Experts not directly involved in the work said it was a well-run study, but noted that its results could not establish cause and effect . Amelia Lake is an expert in public health nutrition at Britain’s Teesside University. She said that while this study does not provide a definite cause and effect between sugar and cancer,it does add to the importance of efforts to reduce sugar intake.” The message from the totality of evidence on excess sugar tonsureption and various health outcomes is clear,”she said. 32.What did the study find? A.Sugary drinks directly lead to cancer. B.Heavy sugary drinks might be linked with cancer. C.Obesity mainly results from sugary drinks. D.Cancer is not necessarily caused by obesity. 33.What does the underlined word“appraised”mean in paragraph 2? A.Controlled B.Evaluated. C.Determined. D.Documented. 34.How does the author prove the findings in paragraph 2 and 3? A.By making comparison. B.By giving different opinions. C.By using actual figures. D.By following the order of time. 35.What do Amelia Lake’s words suggest? A.More evidence needs to be found in the future. B.The researchers should follow more people. C.Reducing sugar consumption needs great efforts.
