1. Save the Animals Animals are natural resources(资源) that people have wasted all through our history. Animals have been killed for their fur and feathers(羽毛), for food, for sport, and simply because they were in the way. Thousands of kinds of animals have disappeared from the earth forever. Hundreds more are on the danger list today. About 170 kinds in the United States alone are considered in danger. Why should people care? Because we need animals. And because once they are gone, there will never be any more. Animals are more than just beautiful or interesting. They are more than just a source of food. Every animal has its place in the balance(平衡) of nature. Destroying one kind of animal can create many problems. For example, when farmers killed large numbers of hawks(鹰), the farmers' stores of corn and grain were destroyed by rats and mice. Why? Because hawks eat rats and mice. With no hawks to keep down their numbers, the rats and mice multiplied(繁殖) quickly. Luckily, some people are working to help save the animals. Some groups raise money let to people know about the problem. And they try to get the governments to pass laws protecting animals in danger. Quite a few countries have passed laws. These laws forbid(禁止) the killing of any animal or plant on the danger list. Slowly, the number of some animals in danger is growing. (1)Animals are important to us mainly because . I think it is a two-side problem. Parents tend to consider their teenagers young children who need their help. After all, they've got used to solving all of their problems. When children reach their teenage years, it is quite difficult for parents to realize and accept the fact that their children already have their own opinions. Just yesterday kids believed every word of their parents, wanted their help, and strongly believed that their parents could solve any problem they have. But today their babies suddenly begin to quarrel with them and refuse to follow them. Parents are just not ready for this change, being unable to admit that their children are old enough to take care of themselves and make their own decisions. Parents want to save their children from mistakes. It is a natural desire, but in my opinion, it is not right. Sometimes we have to make mistakes and learn from them. That's how we grow. Otherwise, children would be helpless and weak after they grow up. Teenagers, from their side, no longer consider them to be young children who need help from their parents whenever there is a problem. As a matter of feet, they often think their parents are outdated(落伍的) and don't really understand them. They want to get out of their parents, control. Therefore, the fight doesn't seem to end because of misunderstanding one another. In my opinion, in order to keep peace in the family, both of two sides have to make a compromise(妥协). Children should realize that parents can make better decisions than themselves because of their rich life experiences. On the other hand, parents shouldn't stick their noses into their children's business every time there seems to be a problem. (1)According to the author, why do parents make decisions for their teenagers? A、They think their teenagers are too young to make decisions. B、They think their teenagers are unwilling to make their own decisions. C、They think it is a good way to express their concern for their teenagers. D、They think it is a good way to prevent their teenagers, different opinions. Parents tend to consider their teenagers young children who need their help. (2)What does the author think of making mistakes? A、It is acceptable. B、It is a big problem. C、It should be avoided. D、It often makes people worried. Sometimes we have to make mistakes and learn from them. That's how we grow. (3)What can we learn from Paragraph 4? A、Parents can easily become outdated. B、Teenagers always consider themselves young children. C、Parents realize they know nothing about their teenagers. D、Parents and teenagers should understand each other better. Therefore, the fight doesn't seem to end because of misunderstanding one another. (4)What does the underlined part in the last paragraph most probably mean? A、Parents shouldn't make decisions on their own. B、Parents shouldn't make decisions for their children. C、Parents shouldn't care about their children too much. D、Parents shouldn't have difficulty in getting along with their children.
