The other day he heard from them and he at last got the chance to teach in Guizhou.‎ After he arrived at a village where some rivers dried up because of severe drought, he distributed the textbooks that his friends and relatives donated to the kids there. What comforted him most was that he quickly adjusted to the life there, otherwise his mother would drag him back, but one thing is for sure: his voluntary work will make a difference to the kids there.‎ 一 单元语法回顾 所谓定语从句就是用来作定语的从句。如:‎ This is the book that I bought yesterday. ‎ People who cannot speak can talk by using signs. 如:‎ Tom, whose father is a teacher, is one of my classmates. 3. 当先词是指物的anything, everything, nothing等时, 或指物的词受到any, every, no, all, the only, the very等修饰时, 或者先行词既包括人又包括物时, 多用that引导。如:‎ I won’t do anything that hurt you. ‎ Paper is first made in China, as is known to all. B.Amusing. C.Courageous. D.Aggressive.‎ ‎ C There is a long-held belief that when meeting someone, the more eye contact we have with the person, the better. The result is an unfortunate tendency for people making initial contact—in a job interview, for example—to stare fixedly at the other individual. However, this behavior is likely to make the interviewer feel very uncomfortable. Most of us are comfortable with eye contact lasting a few seconds. But eye contact which persists longer than that can make us nervous.‎ Another widely accepted belief is that powerful people in a society—often men—show their dominance over others by touching them in a variety of ways. In fact, research shows that in almost all cases, lower-status people initiate touch. Women also initiate(开始) touch more often than men do.‎ The belief that rapid speech and lying go together is also widespread and enduring. We react strongly—and suspiciously(怀疑地)—to fast talk. However, the opposite is a greater cause for suspicion. Speech that is slow, because it is laced(掺入) with pauses or errors, is a more reliable indicator of lying than the opposite.‎ ‎64. Which of the following statements is true according to the passage?‎ ‎ (A) Rapid speech without mistakes is a reliable sign of intelligence.‎ ‎ (B) Women often play a more dominant role than men in a community.‎ ‎ (C) Speaking slowly is more often a sign of lying than speaking quickly.‎ ‎ (D) Touching tends to be initiated first by people of higher social positions.‎ ‎65. What is true about fixing your eyes on a person when you first meet him/her?‎ ‎ (A) Fixing your eyes on the person will make him/her feel at ease.‎ ‎ (B) It is more polite to fix your eyes on him/her as long as you can.‎ ‎ (C) Most people feel uneasy to have eye contact for over a few seconds.‎ ‎ (D) It doesn’t make a difference whether you fix your eyes on him/her or not.‎ ‎66. Which of the following is NOT discussed in the passage?‎ ‎ (A) Facial expressions. (B) Physical contact. (C) Rate of speech. (D) Eye contact.‎ ‎67. What is the main idea of the passage?‎ ‎ (A) People have an instinct (本能)for interpreting( 解读) non-verbal (非口语)communication.‎ ‎ (B) We should not judge the intention of a person by his body language.‎ ‎ (C) A good knowledge of body language is essential for successful communication.‎ ‎ (D) Common beliefs about verbal and non-verbal communication are not always correct.‎ D ‎ There is a boy called Bill in my gym class who has unbearably yellow teeth that almost make everyone feel unpleasant.Recently another boy told Bill that he should "go Ajax" his teeth.Bill was crushed. If the other boy had been thinking, he would have realized that there is a better way to handle such a situation. He could have dealt with it with tact.He could have showed this hurtful truth in a more careful, sensitive way—that's "tact".‎ ‎ If a person isn't sensitive to another's feelings, there is no way he or she can be tactful.Yesterday, my 5-year-old brother proudly announced that he had cleaned the screen on our television set.Unfortunately, he used furniture polish, which produced an oily film on the television screen. My mother smiled arid thanked him for his efforts—and then showed how to clean the screen properly. Her sensitivity enables my brother to keep his self-respect.Yet, sensitivity alone does not make tact.‎ ‎ "Tactfulness" also requires "truthfulness".Doctors, for example must be truthful. If a patient has just been disabled in an accident, a tactful doctor will tell the truth—but express it with sensitivity. The doctor may try to give the patient hope by telling them curing techniques under study or about advanced equipment now available.Doctors must use tact with patients' relatives as well.Instead of bluntly saying, "Your husband is disabled," a doctor might say, "I'm sorry, but your husband has lost feeling in his legs and..."‎ ‎ Tact should not be confused with trickery.Trickery occurs when a nurse is about to give a patient an injection(注射) and says, "This won't hurt a bit." Instead of trickery, the nurse might guarantee the patient that the discomfort of the injection is a small thing compared to the benefits of it.It would also be thoughtful for the nurse to tell the patients about some of these benefits.‎ ‎ Tact is a wonderful skill to have, and tactful people are usually admired and respected.Without tact our society would become an intolerable place to live in.‎ ‎68.The underlined word "crushed" in the first paragraph probably means____.‎ ‎ A.surprised B.cheated C.scolded D.upset ‎69.According to the author, his mother's praise for the brother is ____.‎ ‎ A.sensitive and tactful B.sensitive but not tactful enough ‎ C.truthful but not tactful enough D.sensitive but trickish ‎70.Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?‎ ‎(The numbers stand for the paragraphs)‎ 第二节 (共5小题,每小题2分。 ‎ As I walked across the campus of Pittsburgh' s Carnegie Mellon University, I came upon a table filled with young people chatting and enjoying the fine weather. 71 Trilogy, an Austin, Texas -based software company, had a reputation for recruiting (招聘) our top students.I walked over to the table."Are you guys here to recruit?"
