I would just watch it go round for hours and hours." When Robertson finally had the opportunity to ride on a train, he felt great. His journey was so mind-blowing that he couldn’t keep it to himself: he decided to take all his classmates to go on a ride with him. When he found that some of his classmates couldn’t pay the fare, he collected cans (罐子) and bottles and raised more than $1,000 for them. Then take any kind of table, even the kitchen table, and let your child lay out the pictures any way they wish. They don’t need to use all of them, just as many as they want. After they have laid out the pictures, have them tell a story. If some pictures don’t fit in with their stories, don’t use them. Very early in history, horseback riding became a primary means of travel. In the very beginning, horses were used for fighting and hunting. Today, horseback riding is mostly used for fun and therapy (治疗). When choosing a horseback riding camp, you must first decide which style of riding you want to learn. American riding is generally related to cowboys (牛仔) and all kinds of competitions. American saddles(马鞍)were made to make sure that the rider feels comfortable and safe. English riding, on the other hand, focuses on jumping, racing and horsemanship (马术). This style of riding gives the horse and the rider more freedom of movement, so the saddles don’t provide as much support and security as an American-style saddle does. If you are a new rider, you should think about going to an American riding camp. Horseback riding is a great therapy for people of all ages with physical or mind disabilities. This type of therapy provides a fun environment in which people can practice new and old skills. The riders try to improve their skills. In addition, they can enjoy the feeling of being with other people in the camp. If you’re looking for something a little different next summer, think of horseback riding camps, whether you own a horse or not. The experience and fun of horseback riding will stay in your memory forever. 71. At first, horses were mostly used ____________. A. for fun B. for illness C. for fighting and hunting D. for travelling and trading 72. According to the passage, in English-style horse riding, _______________. A. riders focus on working with cowboys B. the saddles provide as much support as American riding C. more chances are provided to communicate with people than in American riding camps D. both the rider and the horse have more freedom to move than in American riding 73. When riding a horse for the first time, _____________. A. you should go to an English riding camp B. an American riding camp is the better choice C. you should make a good relation with the cowboy D. you should choose a good saddle 74. The author’s purpose of writing this passage is to _____________. But in 1967 there was no such a thing as the company that people call Amtrak today. I remember the day I came to America. The last part of my journey was a train trip from San Francisco to Chicago after an 18-day journey from Manila by ship. My wife, Francisca, bought first class tickets for what I simply remember as a Santa Fe train. She and our ten-month son, Reggie, both arrived in the United States a few months earlier. Now they had flown from Chicago to meet me. Since we would leave the next day we spent the night in a little hotel. That’s where I had ____________ —a cold hamburger from a vending machine(自动贩卖机). No, I don’t think I should say that. My first American dinner was on the ship. An American ship, in my mind, is already part of America, even though San Francisco is on the other side of the world. Our train was supposed to leave at 10:30 a.m., so we felt we had the time to visit an old friend. She had been living in San Francisco for many years. She gave us food that she had made by herself when she learned that it would take us one and a half days to get to Chicago. She warned us that we might get tired of train food, although she was not sure what train food would be like. 76. What is the best title of this passage? Our company wants to open overseas markets. W: Oh, that’s great. It sounds like your company is making great progress. M: Yes, our products are both good and cheap. W: And your food is really delicious. I think you’ll get rapid development. M: I hope so. W: Of course. Your visit to Canberra was successful, right? M: Yes, the leaders of a big food market agreed to cooperate with us. W: That’s a good start. M: And I am planning to go to Europe to see what I can manage there. Text 9 W: Good morning, sir. Anything I can do for you? M: Good morning! You know, I don’t have a cold or fever, but my head really hurts. W: Do you have an appointment? M: No. W: Then please go to get a number first. I’m afraid you’ll have to wait for a while. M: About how long? W: Well, there are 12 people in front of you. Each of them should take about a quarter of an hour. And we have a one-hour-break for lunch, starting at 12:30. So ... M: You mean it will be afternoon when I can see the doctor. W: Exactly, since it’s 11:30 now. Take a seat in the hall and wait for your turn. M: The line is too long. I guess I’ll go for lunch first, and then mail a letter. I’ll be back at 3 p.m., is that OK? W: Of course. M: Thank you very much, Miss. W: You’re welcome. Text 10 Loud cheers greeted President Barack Obama on Tuesday night as he began his first address to Congress. His audience included lawmakers, important officials, and about 7 million American audiences on television. After a 5-minute introduction, the main part of Obama’s speech lasted another 52 minutes. He spoke about the state of the nation’s economy, and the importance of quick action to get the country back on track. Among the guests was Ty’Sheoma Bethea, a middle-school student from Dillon, South Carolina. She sat next to First Lady Michelle Obama during the speech. The girl had written a letter to the president about her school, asking for help for it, and for students trying to become lawyers or doctors, or dreaming of becoming president themselves. The president thought the girl was very brave and clever, and invited her to attend the speech and give him suggestions, as well as speak to other youth. 参考答案 1-5 BABCC 6-10 ABCCC 11-15 ACCCA 16-20 ACBBA 21-25 CADCA 26-30 DBACD 31-35 DADAB 36-40 BAABC 41-45 ABDAC 46-50 AAABD 51-55 CBABD 56-60 ADACB 61-65 CCBAD 66-70 CACAC 71-75 CDBBA 76.
