Text 4 W: Look, it's already 8. Tom said he'd be here by 7. M: Yes, but you know what the traffic is like this time of the evening. W: He said he is trying not to be late. Why does he always do this? I've had enough this time. Text 5 W: Dad, I've got a letter from Han Mai. She wants to stay with us for a  week next month. Can she stay? M: Sure. We haven't seen her since last October. W: Not we. You met her last October,  but I haven't seen her for two  years. Text 6 W: Did you go out yesterday evening?‎ M: Yes, we went to the Tianjin Sport Center to watch a woman volleyball game between Tianjin and the US. The US team was led by Lang Ping, the former coach of the  Chinese National Team. M:Well, the magazine I want to find is more than a year old. So that means I need to go to the second floor. Oh, excuse me, what am I saying? The third floor? W:That's right, the third floor. For many years, the most famous amusement parks in the world were on Coney Island, New York. Around the 1820s, Coney Island was a popular place for wealthy people. In the late 1800s, it became popular with working-class people, too. Several amusement parks were built there in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Today, ten million people a year still visit Coney Island, although man tog its attractions are now gone.‎ The U.S. amusement parks began to change in the mid-1900s. Before that time, they were usually found in cities. Now they are mostly in the suburbs. Today, most amusement parks are called “theme parks”. Their rides, shows, restaurants, and shops follow historical or cultural themes. At most U.S. theme parks, people do not have to pay for each ride or show. They pay only to enter the park. Then they can see the shows and go on the rides as many times as they want to in one day. Of course, they must pay for any food or souvenirs they buy in the park. ‎ (Text 8) Good afternoon, everyone. I’m so glad to be back to the university to give you a talk. First, I’d like to share how I started my career in journalism. When I was sixteen, I worked in a café every Saturday and Sunday. That was really difficult. When I was eighteen, I was a cook in a fast-food restaurant for a few months. The manager wasn’t very nice and the job was boring and badly paid. But the experiences have benefited me a lot of. After university, I was a marketing assistant for four years. It was okay but it wasn’t very interesting. Then I was an office manager. That was good, but it was always the same. I like differences, so I turned to journalism. It’s different every day. I’m often on planes or trains and in hotels and offices around the world and I meet lots of interesting people. It’s a great job, really. So, folks, you’ll never know what job suits you until you’ve tired it. Next...(fade out) ‎
