you post on your own websites and online profiles, and a comment on your site or post on Facebook can be easily removed. But what about a blog authored by some angry reader?‎ ‎“Nowadays, professional reputation is tied to online,”says Don Sorenson,CEO and founder of online reputation management firm Big Blue Robot.“And you can hardly imagine what people can write about you.I always talk about practicing how to manage your reputation. If you wait until you're in trouble,it's just too late.” ‎ Owen Tripp, cofounder of the Redwood City,Califbased_Reputation.com worked with one financial advisor whose client made an angry tweet about his investments not doing as well as the market, making the post instantly discoverable. The financial advisor was worried it would damage his reputation.‎ Maribeth Kuzmerski, founder of the Grayslake,Illbased RedZone Marketing recalls one president of a big corporation whose own family member posed as a client, attacking his professional reputation until the negative content found its way into his top ten search results.Only after working hard to post positive comments and press releases about upcoming events were those negative posts be pushed back down.‎ People who believe reputation control is just for celebrities are kidding themselves. And those who believe they can avoid the problem by simply refusing to create their own online presence are in the dark.‎ ‎“You have to decide how you want to be perceived when someone searches your name,”says Sorenson,“whether you are a potential employer,or a client,or a student. When you're looking at reputation management from a search engine viewpoint,it's primarily played on Google. And most people don't go past page one.”‎ Luckily there are steps people can take to actively manage how they appear on the web—from simple actions that can be set up in minutes,to those that require more investment of time.‎ ‎【语篇解读】 本文讨论了在Facebook、Twitter等网络工具上保护个人名誉的问题。Facebook是一个社交网络服务网站,中文网名译为“脸谱网”‎ B.travel not just in one direction C.have their reputation damaged D.remove an angry reader's blog 解析 细节理解题。 C ‎2.From the second paragraph,we can infer that Don Sorenson________.‎ planning a trip to the United States, be very careful. You could easily break one of our laws and not know it.We're not talking about obviously illegal activities, like throwing a chair through your hotel window. No, there are other more diffculttounderstand offences1 that could get you in trouble.‎ ‎[2]When you visit Alabama, whatever you do, do not sprinkle salt on any railroad tracks. Not only is it against the law in that southern state—it's punishable by death. The law is real, at least according to warnings flying all over the Internet. We can't find the actual legal statement, though, so this is quite possibly one of those urban legends.‎ ‎[3]Do you want to go whale hunting?Don't do it in Utah, where it's supposedly ‎ illegal. It doesn't matter that Utah is 1,500 kilometres from the nearest ocean:whale hunting is forbidden there.‎ ‎[4]And be warned, you can't legally set a mousetrap‎2 in California without a hunting license, either.Tease a skunk‎3 in Minnesota, and they can send you to prison.‎ ‎[5]You're probably saying, “If these silly old laws are real, why________?” Well, suppose you're on the town council in Waterville, Maine. You stand up and claim that it's high time to get rid of the law that makes it illegal to blow your nose in public. The voters in Waterville would drive you out of office for wasting time on such things. And a lot of old laws, if they really exist, have to do with religious beliefs and lovable animals, so some interest group would be sure to get involved if you made a fuss4.‎ ‎[6]As for that saltonthetracks law, we asked around to see why such a thing might have become law.It turns out that during the main period of railroad building in the nation, crews used to spread salt in the wintertime.Freezing mud that reached track level could derail‎5 a train, and rock salt kept the mud soft. The problem was that the salt attracted cattle, and hitting one of them could derail a train for sure.‎ Notes:‎ ‎1.offence/əˈfens/n.违法行为;犯罪 ‎2.mousetrap/ˈmaʊstræp/n.捕鼠器 ‎3.skunk/skʌŋk/n.北美臭鼬 ‎4.fuss/fʌs/n.(为小事)大吵大闹,大发牢骚 ‎5.derail/dIˈreIl/v.使(火车)出轨 ‎1.How does the author introduce the topic of the text?(no more than 4 words)‎
